Can we have iLv Requirements for story content?

This would be because the level 51 dungeon drops ilvl 120, and the level 53 dungeon drops ilvl 130. So yes, ilvl 130 poetic gear doesn't become outdated until after these two: the level 55 dungeon drops ilvl 136. The ilvl on leveling gear in Heavensward is accurate enough in regards to stat allocation.

They could make the iLv req for the entire roulette (and not what dungeon you can be placed into) to scale with the job lvl. For instance, a Lv 54 job would need to be 120 to access the roulette and a Lv 40 jobs would need somewhere around i30-35 to enter the roulette.

Sad but true. Reminds me of all the fail PF groups trying to get Bismark Ex done. Had a BLM using a MND ring just to hit the iLv req.

Another problem is the way iLv is calculated. The weapon, legs, and body pcs that have the biggest stat impact affect your iLv the same as accessories with a minimal impact.

A few times I've seen or heard of situations with people being ridiculously undergeared for what they're running. Last I got to see myself was a healer in Cutter's Cry wearing a cracked shepherd's belt, which is simply a mat used by crafters to turn into... a vintage gatherer's belt. So no stats at all. He was also wearing a vit necklace. Funny enough the tank was getting hasty and asked if he could do big pulls, and that healer said that he could heal anything with no problem. Turns out he couldn't.

Like that there are many other stories that happen with ridiculously undergeared players, or people who have no idea what they're wearing. They may not be that common, but they still happen. And with such a lack of knowledge or care about their gear I don't expect them to be good enough players to make up for that disadvantage. I don't expect such a stiff limit in gear, maybe to use gear that is at least competent for the previous 1 or 2 dungeons. Accessories could still have some freedom, but left side should have an expected minimum.

I have seen many players in Stone Vigil wearing the craps from chests. Also I had a healer once in SV who had the battlemage chest piece, level 20 hat and the rest were items with control. Funny run as I was synced paladin with stoneskin, but I dread to imagine how would they heal a tank wearing leveling gear in garuda normal... not to mention similarly geared tank in awesome no stat gear.

This happen to me today on garuda story fight:
I was taking and I know the fight well, i took notice our groups hp was low through most the fight. I'm like ok... am i sucking at tanking this harpy or wtf is up?

We had a ton of close calls on hp. at the end my bf said "i surprised we even beat that" i asked why, he stated the healer ad mixed tank/gathering jewelry. i just /facepalm

Only time i did this personally was SV, i still had on the brayflox tank set mostly due to i was focused on story, and was hoping for dungeon drops (which i got).. but even i was nicely called out for it which i did back talk cuz i knew they was right. I just was personally testing the limits of the gear and was gonna upgrade if i was kicked (which i wasn't)

Again there is no excuse for not updating ur gear. all gear is buyable from npc rather cheaply, you can easily level up a craft to make it, you can also ask ur fc/friends/linkshel to make you gear. there is 0 excuse not to be in up to date gear.

I think that this would be a bad idea. The reason being:

1: By the time a proper set drops for a person, that person is already a few levels higher if unlucky and can do other dungeons.

Example: After I hit lvl 51+ on my Summoner, I rarely dropped any gear from any dungeon up to Gubal Library, eventhough I ran each dungeon more than 10 times. I was lucky that I had the gear from most of those dungeons already because I leveled my BLM prior to it and ran each dungeon at least 30 times. Did the Aery 60+ times.


2: People will start to demand the max ilvl possible and start kicking people if they don't meet their standards.

Example: In Tera Online, we had ilvl requirement for each dungeon. People started to abuse that feature very quickly and went to those dungeon only with max required ilvl most of the time. Say a dungeon can be cleared with 150 ilvl, people only accepted people with 175 ilvl and kicked all the others.


Side note:
In order to fix this issue, the RNG level of loot drops needs to be improved immensely. In all my dungeon runs from lvl 51 to 59 (as a SMN) I only saw melee class loot, with the exception of healer gear every now and then.
They would need to fix this so that in every run at least 1 item drops for each and every class.


So, in conclusion:
No! I wouldn't want this to be implemented. Been there, seen it happen.

Personally, I think everything that needs a certain equipment standard to be completed needs a matching iLvL requirement. Minimum iLvL requirements serve the purpose of ensuring a clear is possible, so if the dungeon/trial can not be completed in the given timeframe if everyone sports your level of gear, you need to upgrade. If it can, upgrading is a courtesy, not a necessity.

That said, this sort of gearcheck should indeed use a weighted average and consider stats as well es effective iLvL. White NQ =/= HQ =/= Green =/= Blue after all, despite the iLvL being identical.

It's simply a matter of protection. Any four people should be able to clear the dungeon and if RNGesus decides to put four terribly undergeared players together, that clear is no longer possible.
Convenience is irrelevant IMO. iLvL 200+ in Fractal/Neverreap is nice, but 145 suffices (Even though people groan and sometimes leave if they see it). In the same vein, it's nice if someone is wholly up to date with their gear in leveling dungeons, but it suffices if they just aren't terribly behind.

There are plenty of avenues one can take to obtain appropriate gear that doesn't involve farming dungeons. The Main Story and Side Quests alone (especially in HW) throw so much free equipment at you that there's zero excuse for ever being as poorly geared as some of the players that I've seen or that are being described in this thread.

So? If you're talking about randomized DF groups, so long as your equipment is appropriate for your class, it's incredibly unlikely that anyone will care or try to kick you just because you're close to the minimum ilvl. You're a lot more likely to be kicked for some other arbitrary reason than because your ilvl is "too low" when the instance has a hard minimum anyway.

So? Firstly, not every player knows about side quest give gear. And I don't think that there are side quests in every new area, (every 3 levels or so) that give gear. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Secondly, you seem hostile, chill out a bit. And your last sentences are not correct. When there is a max ilvl people do abuse that mechanic.

How about you correct your attitude first, and help people understand that they're not properly geared.


Story content DF is fine as it is, we don't need more hostile players raging to new players because they know less about the game than you do!!
