Considering all the stuff that happens i doubt it would just be a couple cutscenes.
Most of the stuff that look very small (or pointless) in the start actually become big plotpoints later on.

Oh, forgot to mention - the AST guild symbol is the two interlocking squares, in case you weren't sure what to look for on the map.
Can somebody tell me the best way to level my Astrologian after I unlocked it?
Just doing the story and side quests will get you to about 57-58ish. After that its dungeon runs, FATES, hunts, sightseeing log will get EXP.
Oh yeah, sorry didn't think of that. I never leveled any of the new jobs. In that case not sure how far along the MSQ and sidequests will get you. Since the EXP is scaled with each level I would imagine it will still get you to atleast 50, but thats just an assumption. Maybe someone who leveled the new jobs could post a better answer.
Go back and level them the same exact way you leveled your other classes from 30-50.
For speed, daily roulettes and FATE grinding. Northern Thanalan FATEs are the best once you're high enough level due to how small the zone is. Coerthas is popular until then, but it's pretty spread out.
I find FATE grinding to be boring, but I've never bothered powerleveling a class. I just do it leisurely for non-mains, and I level mains via story/side quests, which I'm going to do anyway.
Once you get one class to ~59, a good way to level up a second one is via the HW Hunt bills. They give about 400,000 exp per day total on top of the 400,000 from trial roulette + leveling roulette bonuses. Add in whatever exp you get from killing monsters in the leveling roulette and you'll be getting about a million a day. That's enough for a level every 3-5 days - not bad for semi-casual leveling, given it only takes like an hour a day to do those.
