Perhaps. I didn't give the full details, but we ran about 4 times before everyone was ready to get rid of him. He was causing a lot of drama. Everything went much smoother when he left. Everyone in that party would agree that it was a valid harassment kick.

I can't say I've noticed any worse attitudes than usual in the Derpy Finder. Although, I do recall a recent Fractal Continuum run where two of the DPS were new to the instance, so I did my best to explain mechanics on bosses as we went. The tank was less than pleasant, making snide remarks most of the way about low damage output (even going so far as to call me, the WHM, out on not helping enough when I was tossing out attack spells left and right), before finally culminating into a full on tantrum on the last boss where we wiped 3 or 4 times. He laid into us with, "You're all <bleep>ing terrible. Please uninstall the game and never come back," before rage quitting.

A second tank joined and we beat it on the next try.

So yeah, in short, there's plenty of awful people out there who think the game revolves around them and their needs. I'm sure we've all had moments where our patience has run thin, but it's important to remember that there are real people attached to these characters with real feelings. We were all new at some point and we've all made mistakes. And as the age old saying goes, "if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all."

Bad attitude is the community's fault. We all as a whole. Whenever someone defend that a person can and should play and behave the way they want, the way they think it's fun for themselves, it's only adding to the problem. Because instead of have a group of people working toward the same goal, giving heir best so everybody can have fun, you have usually that one individual who play the way he wants because he is paying for the game and it doesn't matter if he is ruining it for everybody else or being a rude a-hole.

df has always been like this, the community hasnt changed at all. You can meet some of the nicest people and some of the worst just like you can in the open world areas. (in any game btw)

However it is your choice to use it or not.

Whenever I met hostility, I either try my best to ignore it (I split my chat channels up and switch to FC/LS chat), or try and counter it with niceness, for example, if "I'm doing it wrong" I'll politely ask them how they would do it and proceed to do that, it might not work and shut them up or it will work and I've learnt a new trick and thank them.

I've been playing for a few weeks now, and have come from what many consider to be a very toxic MMO. Not World of Warcraft, never played that game btw.

I've done my fair share of Duty Finder related dungeons, and outside of a few bot tanks and a couple of hard headed people, I've had little toxicity thus far. Most people tend to be silent and I don't mind that. I have a friend whose been on a large part of different servers both in and outside of Primal, and she says she's encountered more problematic people in servers outside of NA.

At the end of the day I feel, and I could be very well wrong when I reach the current endgame though that'll be a while for me, but I think even if I encountered toxic people in a party, that the number of decent people in the party will always outnumber the problem people.

This is why I left WoW. I was hoping those types would think FF14 to fluffy for them and they'd stay away. Unfortunately this game has gotten so much attention that the WoW trade chatters are heading over here. :( We can only hope that they go back once a new expansion comes out.

Because of this attitude I never ever go tanking or healing alone into a dungeon, I always have a second person I know with me to keep me grounded, as I am really NOT self confident when it comes to tank/heal, and if people start attacking me about my game play (or how bad I am) I start doing even worse because I am nervous. I do use DF alone as DPS (those two classes I am confident with, you won't see me do any melee) - don't get me wrong I also met some really nice people who were patient with me and all the errors I did, explaining what to do.

But lot of times it is true that there is bad attitude in the DF and they start B**** the moment you don't do the way they want you too. I don't mind adapting if my group uses a different tactic, I just ask for pointers... but lot of times people just insult, so I prefer to stay quiet most of the time.

To understand JP servers you basically need to understand that their way of using PF/DF is very different from NA servers.
On JP servers, Party Finder is used to basically learn content so that when they enter Duty Finder they can bring their A game so as not to inconvenience the 7 other people.

PF groups are set up with the expectation that people are gonna mess up but that's OK because everybody knows in advance that there are beginners in the group. DF groups are serious business time because it's random other people and the expectation is to clear the content. Of course, not all JP players do this, but a lot of them do.

Contrast this with NA where DF is basically how people test out content and then use PF if they want a serious group for things. (This is largely due to the influence of WoW on the western MMO playerbase in my opinion; Japanese players never had anything like LFD before FFXIV so they adapted differently to its presence.)

I am actually afraid only of one type of crowd.
