Fan Census: This is embarrassing

Remember that FFXIV is a "theme park" MMO. Some people don't like roller coasters - does that mean they shouldn't go to Six Flags? Of course not, there are plenty of other rides and things to do. My parents took me to Carowinds one year and my mother spent all day watching Star Trek On Ice while I did the coasters and my dad played pinball in the arcade. Everybody was happy.

We tried for months to get a coil static off the ground in our free company. There was never a night when at least eight of us could make it. Some people finally pressed ahead and cleared T5 without us, but only one guy (our FC leader) joined an external static and made it to T13.

I'm worried that the amount of RMT on NA/EU servers are skewing the results. Can we filter to only see the % of active players with T9 clears, that have beaten T13?

Yay I'm in the 2% for balmung!

But to be fair. Balmung population is much higher than other servers. Servers with small populations don't necessarily have more people who have cleared.

i really want to do coil but the elitism of the NA players is what stops me from even trying.

Also, with such low numbers for their "hardcore" content, why would they bother implementing more than just one end game raid per patch? People are asking for more of this content and I will point them to this and say "look, no one is even doing it!"

I also think people need to realize- looking at the numbers - that these percentages of FCoB completion don't represent everyone who does Coil - just those that beat it. However, I'd wager even taking into consideration those working on beating Coil with statics, that the average for US players would be under 10% of the player base doing Coil, 15% being generous. The 85% that log in to socialize, Gold Saucer, Choco race, Gather, craft, run dungeons or CT - those are the ones and those are the metrics SE looks at when designing content - Wildstar is a good example of what happens when people try to cater to the 'hardcore'- no company is going to focus resources on something 85% of their customers don't do. I don't think these numbers are embarrassing at all - different cultures sometimes like different things. Plus...don't forget that the majority of the players don't even read this or any other FF14 forum - as in most MMOs.

What we need is something more like the interesting structures of the first Coil, like how T1 had some exploring and a challenging mini-boss before the main fight in a non-circle arena, or how T2 had a series of mini-bosses you could kill that would affect how the main boss would act, or how T4 didn't even technically have a boss.

Things like that are what people seem to want, not this "here's some trash that won't do anything interesting or challenge you in any way, and now here's the boss in this circle or square-shaped room." We want the raids to be interesting outside of just the mechanics of the bosses themselves. Give us an optional path with a cool mini-boss we can kill for accessories or something, or a boss in a room with an interesting shape where there's a reason for the room being the shape it is, or another fight with no boss or maybe even multiple main bosses at once. Just... something more interesting.

This is embarrassing. We should be doing better than this. They play the exact same game as us and we aren't even competitive compared to them.

I think its more embarrassing not really even reading your own post? Last I checked, 28 would be higher than 29 ;P

So that means Excalibur is the number 1 NA server not Gilgamesh? ;)

That is exactly my point. I have tried a couple times but, silly me, I mention its my first time actually doing it but I've watched vids. At which point people auto ditch, call me down and no party forms. I don't even get a chance to fail at it... I'm also the only one in my FC interested in doing coil, and I cant commit to a static group with my play schedule.
