I'm not seeing the problem with the game being "easy". Due to maintenance costs being much higher than other games, the company needs as many paying customers as possible. If you make the game too hard in any way, you start losing customers that don't have the patience for such things.
Then you lose other customers because, although they can handle the difficulty level, some of their friends can't. And if they wanted to play a game solo for simply the content, they would play a singleplayer game that has the advantage on content due to not having to worry about accounting for hundreds of other players while developing the story.
