Grindus Weapon

Hi....Despite my little time, I'm a relic collector.... So fast this is the progress:

SMN & PLD & BRD = Zenith
MNK = Atma
WAR & SCH & BLM & DRG & WHM = Animus
NIN = Nexus

Going to have it fully chained soon with either SCH novus or lolDRG's....
My opinion of my steps of it:

Zenit; Should not even be called a step.... Easy peasy
Atma: Pre-patch I used to hate it, obtain four of these were a hell (Try imagine farm 48 old atmas)... Weeks and weeks of fates, achieving the 3000 fates item without even know it...Right now I hate how it is and like it, like it because too easy, hate it because I remember how bad it was before and how some of my atmas costed to get. Also, I liked the fact that almost noone tried to do a second atma again, so a person with more than one atma was rare to see, not the stuff now.
Animus: I like it, until the point I know already all the fates and leves and monsters and everything that appear...Funny thing is that whenever I see a person with an atma in a certain place I already know which FATE he/she is waiting for... Only thing I disliked was the FATEs to do. I hope they won't make it even further easier...
Novus: It is terrible, you need a lot of alexandrites, that's a lot of days, without possibility to do it better or not, trying to obtain alexandrite by FATE is pointless and not worth it. The worst part is that it is now a bit of P2W, people that sells dyes or bracelets of the cash shop can use that gil for buying materia, etc, while you poor noob have to spiritbond yourself everything.
Nexus: I kind of liked the fact of raising light through using it, and unlike in Novus farm, doing fates always give you some reward... Only boring thing is the fact you can't change of class for doing this. I have to say that in-between for waiting for some garuda or t4 bright, doing fates did almost half of the work.
Zodiac: I hate it similar to novus, so I paused my nin and now working on DRG's next step, soon doing its light.... I just hate it by the fact a dude can buy something in cash shop, sell it for gil, and then buy the 3 star crafts required for this relic step. I hate the fact it requires you big fish and crafting stuff to do it, thus, requiring gil. RNG and dungeons is okay, and that content kind of needed some flush. Soldiery and Grand Company seals is perfect, finally had some use to the grand company seals, but already bought my 4 bombard cores, and still... 3 star crafts...


Aside of the sad factor of Novus and Zodiac. I have to say I still liking relics because they are not so easy as taking i110 from Syrcus, or Shiva's i115, and those easy peasy ways... It is always good to show my efforts and progress with a class... Since I can't level anymore my dear jobs what really shows its progress is their relic status. (A class with an animus at least had to pass 27 useless fates, 27 lol-dungeons and 900 monsters... Doing that kind of fast shows a little your control with the class in the normal contents of the game, it's my opinion. Even the high allagan stuffs are not of my like, just a RNG drop and going too much there, boring)

And no, mine is not done. Mainly doing it as a little sideproject because Sasuke's Blade look pretty damn good. I'm mainly going for the Poetics/Dreadwyrm weapons...you know, stuff that requires you to do actually challenging content, of which you probably don't have any, right?

And yet you're the one getting all mad over my opinion. You guys might want to stop putting words in my mouth. I do believe getting a Zodiac is quite an achievement, BECAUSE of the mindless grind. It still doesn't make any sense to call it "hard"...because the entire relic chaininvolves no hard content.

Relic Grind feels like getting every fisher achievement there is. The fishing is piss easy (And don't tell me RNG being a factor adds to the difficulty of a task), but the grind to get every meld, and every gear piece is costy and takes up alot of time actually making that money. But if you'd call fishing hard then you probably wouldn't be able to solve this here either:

I have my dragoon relic at Novus, just a handful of light away from Nexus, and my Ninja relic is 55/75 alexandrites into becoming a Novus as well. I'll eventually do it for more jobs, probably PLD, I REALLY like that Excalibur design. Might do it for DRK when it's released too. Maybe.

2. I have Animus; and at the time I was working on it, it took just as long to collect myth to buy the next book as it did to finish a book, so I guess it wasn't that horrible. I have been doing dailies for the Alex maps and have done some (27) melds, but I doubt I'll ever finish novus. Partially because I have a Diamond Cane now but also because the materia melding (75!!!! of them with fail rates) is a horrible, horrible idea. I sincerely hope there is a change made to it later that keeps it from being so ridiculously expensive. You either have to farm gil to buy materia or farm gil to buy armors to spirit bond for materia or level up DoH classes to make gear to spirit bond if you can afford to make them... and I hate DoH classes. No thanks.

My wish? Untradeable materia purchasable for soldiery (that would also make a tradeable item untradeable if it is infused with one). Win/win. I have fun earning tomes and don't mind doing that slowly but I don't have a lot of gil and I am not interested in becoming a crafter or a farmer.

1. Have my Zodiac Lilith Rod
2. Started working on a couple of the Zodiac quests for the Yoichi Bow (I saw this in expert roulette today and it makes me want to work all that much harder on it)
3. Have almost 1200 light for my Bravura Axe.
4. Have 25/75 Alexandrite for my Ninja and will be upgrading it to Novus when I have all the catalyst.

I kind of like working on relics in different stages. For example I run an expert roulette each day so why not get the quest and get a map. Relics are part of what I do in addition to running other content and having fun with friends.
