I see your point, but I'm going to pick at you anyways.

All melee jobs have offensive and defensive abilities. I'll just list one of each, but some have more.
GLA has Cadence/Rampart
PUG has Blindside/Featherfoot
LNC has Ferocity/Diversion
ARC has Raging Strike/Decoy
and
MRD has Murderous Intent/Defender, so actually MRD just has defensive abilities since MI is broken.
And what's funny is LNC is the only class that has no abilities that use MP, but yet they were given the highest MP of all melee. Every other class has at least one ability that requires MP.

I'm not questioning you Holyomen; but I can't think of any MRD abilitys that use MP.Which ones do? just for my own reference.

and as for everyone else....
GLA - Red Lotus, Red Lotus II, and Luminous Spire
PUG - Seismic Shock, Seismic Shock II, and Pummel
ARC - Triforcate
THM & CON are obvious.
LNC has no abilities that require MP.

something is wrong with you if you think there are more similarities between MRD and DRK, then MRD and WAR. Just saying, looks like you are trying too hard lol.

I was just using that as an example comparing it to DRK. DRK wasn't known for its defensive abilities the way WAR was....or the way MRD is. And just because a job has one or two defensive abilities does not mean they are useful tanks. WAR was able to be a useful tank if you wanted..... just like MRD can be. Sure, ARC has decoy(you really reaching now lol), but lets go see them tank something hard because they have decoy.

Most all the classes tend to be generic and broad, but I guess that's the point.
There won't be any real definition until Jobs are released.

So right now the case can be made that there is a similarity of the present classes to many jobs we have seen in the past.

MRD is like WAR since they both use a Great Axe, have defensive abilities and tank.
MRD is like DRK since they can cure from damage dealt and have weapons with a long delay, and can build a lot of enmity.

I have a feeling once the jobs come out we will again see a blend of abilities from past FF jobs.

See, this is where your not making sense. Your just like all those fools claiming CON was gonna be BLM just because they had elemental nukes. Well they had to have some kind of damage.

And here you are telling us what WAR and DRK are before they are released??? Seriously???

Please tell us where the devs posted there definition and design og WAR and DRK in FFXIV, cause only a fool would continue to make the same unintelligent assumptions they did about conjurers being BLK just to learn they are to be WHM.

DRK was an option the devs CLEARLY posted as a job, WAR wasn't.......

I love it!

Maybe you made a typo or something, but the devs never posted DRK as a Job.

There's no reason to revise what I said.
If you look back you'll see I said you "can make the case" meaning I'm not stating facts, just making a case based on previous job traits. Dark Knights have always been self inflicting blood suckers and seeing as MRD has Bloodbath and Godsbane down the road, you can make the case for a MRD going DRK. Obviously this isn't XI, but when looking at DRK it's better to compare MMO to MMO rather than MMO to RPG.

As far as WAR, they've never been a distinguished Job until XI. For that reason and others I've shied away from saying MRD will go WAR.

But it's all good, the point of this thread was to discuss what Advanced Job MRD would get since SE left us hanging.

All I want to say is blahblah warrior/fighter blah blah dark knight... why does nobody remember berserker? Block out MRD's defensive skills add berserk and some offensive skills...

I thought the purpose of jobs was to take the general classes and make them specialized for a specific task so ... why not?

The insane melee of a Berserker would be fun.
Although that would leave the game with only one tank. Is that a problem? Maybe, maybe not.

But if a Berserker gets like 4000 HP, then I could still have fun tanking, it may just annoy the healer though.
