Aurum Vale, is it really that bad?

Ok, old thread. But yes. It is evil. With a good party, it is fine, but tedious. Ran it 12 times today for a drop for zodiac. Nothing. I have a feeling RNGesus is going to screw me on this one. Wipes are not uncommon. It is fine if you take your time and pull back, but the team jump-rope has to be good.

Once I have this drop, I don't want to touch it again to be honest.

Compared to AV 1.x, the AV ARR is easy.

People hate on Aurum Vale but I enjoy it a lot.

I don't mind Aurum Vale if it's just one run and my teammates are good. I do mind having to spam the hell out of it for Zodiac - it's definitely my least favorite dungeon to spam. And bad teammates are a bigger problem there than in any other dungeon as well.

I don't mind it tbh unless the tank asks if speed runs are ok (yes) when what they really mean is sac pulls (no). Had that happen last night and it made the run go slower than if we just killed everything, which is what two of the party members wanted anyway since they were leveling up jobs and wanted XP. Ended up vote abandoning before the second boss.

I've only had one group fall apart in Aurum Vale, but those guys were just auto attacking and ignoring every single mechanic. We would have failed no matter what dungeon we were in.

Aside from that, I've never had any issues with AV. Maybe I'm just lucky.

Well, it's not that hard really, but it has this reputation because it's almost a level 50 dungeon, but is not and so level sync really bites hard. People used to overgearing content at level 50 hate the place.

It's ironic though that in a game where people bemoan the lack of challenge and difficulty, that those same players are so intolerant of running AV - because it's difficult. It's difficult because they can't overgear it.

The mechanics are straight forward, and as long as everyone works as a team,, and does their role, there is no reason it should not be cleared 1st time. I hated it the 1st time I ran it, but now, it's a fun dungeon because it maintains it's difficulty.

Cutters is not that hard, that last boss really isn't hard as long as you know it's AoEs. the 'hardest' fight in Cutters is probably the Princess if the WHM won't kite the adds (which somehow became *the* way to do it). But to be honest I've run CC through DF several times and tnaked the entire thing just fine without a kiting WHM, and without a wipe - much to the surprise of the other players. Like AV it simply requires that people pay attention and do their job.

If the WHM can't/won't kite the adds, or you have a Scholar, just kill the Marshal ants first when adds spawn, and ideally have the tank gather the adds to keep hate off the healer.

Leveling up my White Mage. Someone chain pulls in the first room (accidentally?), Tank dies and then leaves immediately. Black Mage is just there for relic and wants to rush through skipping as many mobs as possible even though me and the Ninja need some experience to level up. We stand around impatiently waiting for a Tank to Queue in progress... waiting... hoping... waiting........
