so... how the hell do u beat captain madison in satasha hard?

The way me and a few guildies found out how to do it:

When he targets someone with the musket fire they will get a crossheir mark on them, the tank needs to get in between the target and the boss. You'll get a message saying he's missed a shot, or something along those lines.

Also focus firing the boss helps aswell :)

We didn't have more than 3 shots go off using this way.

Out of curiosity, has anyone tested LoSing Captain Madison during the gunshot attack? Like, just run behind him as he's casting. I have a theory that this might cause him to miss, in addition to the DPS method, but I'm not sure.

We did try running behind him, thru him and all over the place. Never once got a 'miss'.

So this was how it works huh? I always got the crosshairs and immediately tried to Line of Sight the move, and each time I ran through him and the tank, so for me it appeared that you had to LoS it multiple times. Glad to know it's just that somebody has to get in the way of the shot.

Having rerun this dungeon a moment ago, it is indeed the DPS that makes him stop the Musket move. Meaning his fight is a DPS check, just like how the first boss was a Healer check.

I've run this dungeon twice and had no idea that people had issue with the second boss. I've never encountered any problems. That last boss, though... my god that one gave us issue, moreso the second time I ran it. It took forever; I was on BLM the second time and was being tossed around all over the place and couldn't cast -- it was awful! xD (I'm so done with krakens, I hated Hullbreaker's too.) And the second boss in Snowcloak was so drawn out because we had no idea the larger snowballs hurt him more, so it just took foreverrrrrrr to kill it.

My party tried this a few times and it doesn't work.

Either I had a back group or I fail at tanking.

Tuesday, went is as tank. We ended up abandoning at the 2nd boss after a lot of wipes.

Next day, decided to go in as monk. Got through the dungeon with no wipes.

Madison when shooting >> adds >> Madison not shooting.

Save all cooldowns for when Madison starts shooting at 35%, and DPS him hard to stop the shooting. That is really all there is to it.

Melee / Magic LB 20% spawns happen.

once he starts shooting he doesn't stop till X amount of dmg is done. So LB boss with AOE BLM or Melee LB and all good.

Our party which was 3/4 new to the place. Wiped on 2nd boss once and last boss once.


My wife was the tank and came up with attack plans after both attempts that worked.
