Firstly, the cost of transport for a handful of people is minimal and when divided over a couple of hundred tickets becomes inconsequential. Secondly, regardless of where they are the cost of having to set a venue up is always going to be an overhead and I'd imagine it would be considerably more expensive for three days in Vegas or wherever the event is in Japan. So, yeah, at the risk of branding you an apologist, the cost to the UK/Euro players of this game for the event is pretty disgusting considering what we actually receive.

Aussie pensioner here so I can't go either. Got my code today; wish I could use it just to get the digital item...

They really should give more information for potential buyers though. It reminds me of those tacky $10 mystery gifts some shops sell (and in fact I think SE did one of those as a digital promotion with less popular games last year, no FF titles in it obviously). I'm the sort that typically reads the fine print on things before I buy them so the fact that they're not giving any real information sets off so many mental alarms it's not funny.

I think they're betting on people's imaginations, or the FF brand and the fact that there's a limited number of tickets that will sell fast, and neither of those things are good tactics for trying to sell tickets to something like this. Imaginations are hard things to live up to, especially when it's the imaginations of a crowd of avid fans. One wrong step and their failure to give adequate info will disappoint many, which will land them in similar hot water to the original FFXIV 1.0 release with bad press abound and even worse bad word of mouth within the fan base itself. That could easily put future events in jeopardy if this is an experiment in feasibility.

Hopefully they'll release a LOT more information of what people are paying for before they sell out of tickets aimed at subscribers, but at the very latest before they go on general sale.

After refreshing for 10 minutes I finally got the ticket site open in two tabs.... just in case.

SE should really use sites that can handle traffic better.

this site is also used for blizzcon, and when i tried to buy tickets, it never went down, just couldnt get past the queue to buy tickets for it ;/
