Why oh why did they lock housing behind rank 6?

Sure why not if you could do it.

But that doesn't deviate the fact that houses are locked behind a FC with rank 6 and above is to prevent anyone to just turn it into a personal housing. I'm a mercenary selling carries and I could buy a house at current pricing if I wanted to. Some of us could just form up with the minimum of 4 to form a "FC" and buy a large house cos we simply had the gil.

That's just part of the equation because you also need the FC to be at rank 6. The current plots are done with FCs in mind to prevent/deter rich crafters and mercs like us from swooping them up.


And BTW do differentiate between rude and frank. I don't sugarcoat my words and anyways what I said earlier was a fact about reason behind the rank 6 lock.

It wasn't just to stop players turning FC housing into their own private estates - when housing was first added the highest FC rank you could reach was rank 5, and thus rank 6 was specifically added at the same time as housing was, and rank 6 was accordingly made the rank needed to unlock housing. The reason for this was to prevent a run on land right at the start, thus preventing certain FCs with large wallets from buying up all the blocks at the start.

As it was it took a few weeks before houses started appearing as FCs gradually attained the needed rank to buy land. Of course this said nothing about the huge land prices at launch but that's another barrel of moogles. ;)

I'm all for folks using FC housing as personal housing. That much is true (I think its cool that the system supports it actually). That still doesn't deny the fact that it isn't intended to be used as personal housing (kudos to those that are). Whether the OPs intent is to share it amongst his small FC or use at his personal home, I hope he gets it.

Three of us and maybe more? Just at the moment it is for me and my friends..mostly me and my best friend who wanna live together in game not have separate houses.
