I can give a pass to those who use Lv. 48-49 accessories that match their job's stats (STR->DRG/MNK, VIT->PLD/WAR, etc.). Those aren't quick to finish even in the beast tribe strongholds, so I can let that slide in dungeons. Switching to iLv 70 gear is also acceptable since they were made for CT.
What is completely unacceptable is half-a$$ers using crafting gear in places like Crystal Tower. That betrays a lack of self-respect and respect for others' efforts to finish the raid.
The DF is also not there for people to speed run.
This.
Theres a huge difference in going in gear thats suited to your job and it being doable with it. It's people who go in full crafter/harvester gear on both sides with a white lower level weapon thats the problem.
Then they can't keep up with their role and pull everything to try and SB. Even stuff way off the track. I had this experience with a healer. AFAIK. If you join a JP party like that, they kick.
If I'm going into a dungeon I know I'm way over geared for I almost always spirit bond accessories, however I wear ones appropriate for my class/job and switch to my better gear if we're going up against a tough boss or run into any problems. So long as people are mindful and considerate about what and when they're spirit bonding there is really no cause for them to change. I do understand however that most people don't care about what they have equipped and that seems to be the problem.
Had this issue with a loldrg earlier last week. Got out of the load screen to see the drg wearing full myth gear only to switch to some low ilvl stuff. His health went from 5k to barely 3k. Needless to say it took a while to kill trash.
Pretty much.
People basically want things done completely their way; then get mad when others are doing something their way (SB acc or watching cut-scenes). Who is really selfish here?
The only thing anyone should expect in DF is a successful run to completion. You can't really be choosey outside of that.
If you set the standard at doing all DF dungeons at 20 minutes, and the numbers that you and I made up together based on nothing are true, then I guess you are totally correct. However, if you set the standard at something reasonable and use real numbers, I think you will find that the effect is much less dramatic, and that it is worth every gil going into my pocket!
If I only have X amount of work to do at my job, I will do X amount of work, then spend the remaining time attempting to improve my personal lot in life. Because I am not a communist.
Great point - show me the ToS line that says I can't use Wanderer's Palace to spirit bond as long as my gear is of the appropriate stats? You are there to speed it to get myth as fast as you can, I am there to spirit bond to get gil as fast as I can.
this and the growing number of spiritbinding turret bots I run into sound like good reasons to redo the grindtastically garbage materia system
Curious. Yes, it does slow things down, but is it really harassment? Are you not harassing the other player for wanting to improve other gear through materia (or otherwise make money)? The gear is technically good enough to allow him to actively participate in the duty, it's not level 30 gear in a level 50 dungeon. While it isn't beneficial for the entire group, I don't see it as harassment. Just an inconvenience.
I'd hate to see what you do to people who are genuinely undergeared for a speed run. Would you report this person for harassment if they're just trying to get tomes and dungeon gear? I mean their gear doesn't help the party as a whole, they "couldn't actively participate in a manner that benefited the groups progress in the dungeon" despite meeting or slightly exceeding the ilvl requirements.
