So, Soldiery Weapons

This is all really good info guys! I had forgotten that CT2 will give us Unidentified tomes and Sands.

Makes me wonder if we'll have more dropped weapons that scale to the higher relic levels.

The information in that image is outdated. It was stated the novus weapons will be item level 110 during the live letter. Maybe something will change in 2.3, but I wouldn't bet on it.

Planning your character months in advance is all well and good but one thing.

What's going to keep them from just upping the soldiery tome drop limits by then anyway?

I'd say, get the animus AND the weathered/upgraded gerolt weapon both. It's also about what you enjoy and the OP seemed to want the gerolt weapon so... I can't really say it's a bad choice either. It's a nice weapon. Our static WHM has it and he enjoys it.

I personally bought my gerolt weapon and upgraded it too. Sure there is the high Allagan one and the zodiac in a future patch will rival the gerolt one (though for bards, it's going to be a *future, future* patch since the stats on the relic aren't very appealing). I can't count on ever getting the high allagan weapon. In the past, with twintania, even though we had been killing her for months, some of our static never got their weapons.

already been said but it can take longer to get atmas+13500 mythos than 1500soldiery. someone who can only play on weekend but manage to get a static for baha have close to no time to spend on animus and if he's unlucky might still be under half his atma collected

how is it wasting anything if the DPS didn't save soldiery to buy his weapon but whm did? do you really think that having an UAT in inventory increase your DPS?

the weapon wont be obseleted before your alt gear(unless he drop High Allag weapon) and since he still havent finish his atma weapon he can choose to upgrade an alt weapon. I think an alt with a ilvl100 weapon and 0soldiery > an alt with i90/95weapon and gear from1500soldiery

As a smn I originally looked at it and said I want that.

However, my personally reason is that I love the relic quest. I'm not saying I liked farming atma or myth, but the ongoing work to obtain a more and more powerful weapon that eventually is customizable as soon as next patch, apeals to me more.

This is one thing I like about the game. Both paths are viable, and both appeal to ddferent people.

If you follow the trend, Relic is always 2nd/3rd best.
Lots of work for numero 2, why not aim for 1?

I have got bard and mnk soldier weapons because i am raiding as bard and monk same time (t6-t8 as bard, t7 as mnk). 3 weeks each weapon

My bard is ilvl 101 and my monk 94. Now, i'll spend my soldier tomestone in gear that increase slightly my dps but not as the weapon.

If i had choose the animus version i would need 1500 myth x 18 = 27000. 27000/ 50 each brayflox run = 540. It's insane :D

that can be said for about 80% of the soldiery weapons, even the ilvl 100 versions are better.

the only ones who should really get Animus are Drg Mnk and Pld
