I can just imagine them, choking and swallowing that ball of venom in hopes someone will give them that succulent piece of fruit dangling just out of reach :).
Its most likely turning into a tumor and slowly killing them.

i tend to commend healers mostly since alot of tanks i met arent real nice lol but there are some good polite tanks aswell xd but if majority of ppl have left b4 i get to commend stage i give to whoever is remainin xD gotten like 12-13 myself from the same way i guess xD
There are lots of legit nice people in this game, and even those who don't ham it up and just do a good job can get commendations from me; even dps! =P
Saying hello is not sucking up. Neither are explaining dungeon mechanics, congratulating other players on their level ups or achievements or being patient with people who make mistakes. Those things are just part of the way people should always act towards each other - a.k.a. civility.
Performing your role well is just one of the factors that can lead to getting a recommendation. I haven't changed my way of playing or treating others since 2.1, but I have noticed a marked improvement in the attitudes of people in the DF. And it's all for the better.
Except when someone begs for a recommendation before the dungeon/heist has even begun. That's just cheap.
We had a BRD drop group after the second boss (because he couldn't avoid the aoe's) in Dzemael Darkhold. I was leveling up my DRG at the time and we had a whm and war that was left in the party. I believe the tank was fairly new to the dungeon so I was explaining the encounters. So the 3 of us ran the rest of the instance ourselves.
Got to the last boss and we down him in one shot and the other 2 both gave me their comms.
I don't always give my comms to the tank (if I'm on my drg) it usually goes to who ever was the friendliest and communicated the best. I've been in runs where only 1 person has said anything while the others were silent for the whole run, that single person that spoke (if it was not mean) usually got my comm.
I agree,
While it is sad that people need to be gifted into acting civil, it is many many times better than dealing with people who are essentially abusive just for the heck of it. I have no problem with people asking for commendations but no matter how much I am asked, I will only reward people according to the intended design of the commendation system.
I have yet to come across a commendation begger.
My personally policy, no matter how good they were in the run, if a person begs for a commendation, they're not getting it.
It is sad that people have to have an incentive to be nice, I have not changed my behavior in the game since 2.1, but yes, I would rather have someone act fake than be a dick.
I say hi and "thanks for the group" in every dungeon I do. I did this before the Commendation system was even conceptualized. Is it really that hard to force out a couple lines of text?
I've only seen a few instances where people purposely pointed out to use the Commendation system. I don't see people sucking up for them. In fact, most groups I'm in are pretty silent overall, just like they were before. I give Commendations based on people's general helpfulness and/or displaying a working knowledge of the class they're playing. Tanking and healing is more obvious in this respect, but sometimes you'll see a DPS that stands out. I'll vote for a DPS above all else if they're performing above satisfactorily as it's way easier to pick out a good tank or healer.
I ran Castrum Meridianum 2x wearing iL90 tanking gear , pretty much main tanked every boss , not 1 wipe not 1 death , didn't lose agro once .
After last boss was down people just instantly left , I doubt they commendated anyone at all .
Got 1 commendation in 2 runs .
Last time I ever tank that again, so much for helping people .
