Lets talk Aurum Vale

AV is definitely not tuned properly to the level, Tonberries in WP are easier than AV... Of course, Malboro's have always been my most hated monster from every single FF game in existence; I think they could rework this dungeon to make it less annoying in some way.

The 10-tonze swing of the second boss is confusing, it changes randomly between frontal cone and 360 degrees swing... The debuff you get on first and third bosses is worse than the whole of AK combined, AK is simple but when you're synced down full DL gear has trouble with that debuff.

AV messes with your head.

Leave AV exactly as it is, Make it a 50 instance and switch WP with it, make that a 47 instance.

I believe the attack is 100 ton swipe. The other is 100 ton swing. One is a frontal cone, and the other is a 360 degree attack. I forget which one is which, but they are two separate attacks, and you can also tell by his movements (if you don't see the name of the attack). As a tank, I run through him to avoid the frontal attack, and I stun him on the 360 degree attack to save the melee from being pwned.

I have to take issue with this. I've only done AV once. Like you, it was for GC quest. I got the win on one try. We had a SCH healer. Also, I, the DPS, am on PS3 and do not have access to focus target, as it's not in the game for PS3 players yet.

So it's not the type of healer or lack of DPS focus target which caused you to fail.

I think Deceptus probably means DPS that attack different mobs makes things take longer. If DPS attack in unison, things go quicker. I see how you could mistake the feature focus target for DPS focusing on the same target though.

I didn't read any of the replies.

I just want to say this Dungeon is a flippin nightmare. It's harder than Coil IMO. Did it last night with a friend for their friend. I started as my Whm who is +1 and 4i90's. Tank was terri-bad...wipe...wipe..wipe...wipe.. So my buddy switched to his +1 Whm, I switched to my Relic'd Pld. and we still got our asses handed to us.

Finally!!! after like an hour we managed to down the damn dungeon. Maybe I don't understand mechancis or something but I freakin hate this dungeon. I did realize something. First boss Next to the exit, there's a group of 3 fruit thats tucked in the corner. Thinking maybe stack casters and healers there instead of out in the open so they can be hit with Medica?? Crazy enough I want to try and do the dungeon again. I don't like thta it was so hard even with 2/4 people pretty well geared.

That's exactly the thing I love about the dungeon. Since it syncs your gear down, you can't be over-geared. No matter how decked out everyone is, the dungeon can still be a challenge.

I love running this dungeon on my scholar. The poison stacks on Eos just take paying attention to what she is doing. If she is spamming embrace on herself I just bring everyone up and summon her again. If done before she gets too many stacks it's easy to hardcast since the party damage is in predictable intervals. For every pull of 3+ mobs E4E the tank and virus the larger mite. For the second boss I place Eos in the middle and move to the right. There is an alcove there where you can stand behind rocks to avoid all mechanics of he is being tanked too close to avoid the swing. For Mistress I can help dps the adds by switching to cleric stance and using Miasma 2. This requires melee range but the dots will dps down the pods and it has an insta cast.

This is a great dungeon for learning your class better.

As a side note. I ran this yesterday with my FC mates. One was fresh 50 and needed it to access AK. We brought another new level 50 scholar to heal. We cleared it with no wipes. Then we tried to do AK. With two fresh 50s going off the side we could not get past demon wall. I think people forget how difficult the mechanics of that fight can be after doing it over 1000 times. Nothing in AV comes close.

Crazy thing is I really do want to keep trying the dungeon again. I don't like that it was difficult.

Can the gold lung be silenced or stunned?

I only went through that hellhole once on SMN before the GC promotion switch. There's no way you could get me to go back there on any job. Anyone blathering about the "challenge" is a boldface liar or out of his/her fool mind.
