The content they're adding in 2.1 is meant to help people prepare for coil (Crystal Tower is meant to be a precursor to BC), we aren't actually getting the next set of coil until at least 2.2 (unless stated otherwise) so in reality you'll most likely still be trying to do coil when 2.1 rolls around.
It's a shame you aren't on my server :/ My husband and I host pug coils every weekend. We specifically ask for people with little/no experience in coil (but *DO* screen for gear, ilvl avg.70).
Once we have our group together, we take a few minutes and ask everyone to watch a strat video just to make sure everyone will know what we're talking about when strategy discussions need to be had.
Some might call us stupid for doing this. However, we've found it relatively successful. Not only are we helping people that would normally not have the opportunity to go otherwise (like OP) we're also helping people learn at least the first turn or two. And in return, they are helping us in the same way.
Not all runs are fabulous success stories, as you can imagine. Nevertheless, it's a learning experience for all, and our groups generally do pretty well.
My point? You could organize something like this, OP. At least for a while until you find a group you like or until you feel you're experienced enough to join those more hardcore groups. What can it hurt? At least you'd be getting in there as soon as you'd like.
Never tell anyone it's your first time. If you've watched a Youtube video you're experienced. If you do something retarded on the run and die/cause a wipe then you lagged. That's how most people roll.
Just friggin talk to people. Run a few AK/WP or primals with them to show them you're not a tard. Make an LS, invite people to it. Whatever. Make friends. Eventually, these friends will wanna do coil. And they'll wanna bring their friends with them. Boom. Coil group. Don't lie about having done it before. That's a dick move. I've been up front about my experience, and had no trouble getting a group for anything.
You run up to someone and immediately get in their face with TAKE ME TO COIL NOW LOLOL of course they're gonna tell you to sod off. Or the group is gonna probably gonna suck. (Though those can be good for getting your feet wet.) It's a social game. Be social.
Study the fights. Watch some videos. Don't say you are new. Then, you won't have this problem.
I've seen people, right before the last boss in Turn 1, or 2, that they declare they are new, but we're so far into the dungeon that they are not going to be kicked. In fact, they are usually helped by the group. The fight strategy is explained and most of the time, about 98%, the run is smooth.
