The Shield System

Guard will only take up a slot on you raction bar once you equip a shield, there are two ways to move guard on you ation bar.

The Manual Way:

Do not equip your shield until you have set all your action, so if you want guard to appear in slot 3 on the firts bar, equip an action in slots 1-2 and 4 - 10 then when you equip your shield it will automatically take up the first free space on your action bar - slot 3, obviously move the slot as required.

The Automatic way:

Using Macro's is by far the most efficient way to equip actions so:

Set up you macro for each line of your action bar, again using slot 3 as the example:-

Equiping your sword put light slash in slot 1.
/ea 2 "Heavy Stab"
/equip 3 "Vintage Scutum" (equips guard automatically)
/ea 4 "Deflection"
/ea 5 "Aegis Boon II"
/ea 6 "Outmanouver"
/ea 7 "Phalanx II"
/ea 8 "War Drum"
/ea 9 "Taunt II"
/ea 10 "Provoke II"

As you can see the above macro sets 9 actions and equips my shield for me all in one go, i then have 2 other macros for the other 2 lines of actions.

Phalanx II actually does just as much damage as other weapon skills, Except Riot blade, but doesnt cost 2000tp either. It is where a good gladiator gets most of its single target damage from if he/she is tanking. 250tp, no stam, very short cooldown.
