Am I the only one concerned about the long wait for personal housing? 1-3 months is doable, but 6 months (after 2.1 drops) seems like an eternity. I guess there is some technical reason for the delay, but it is just odd that content that naturally should be a selling point to players and has been worked on for so long is being restricted to most players. No FC is going to give everyone house designing/furniture placement rights. It would be like playing the same Sims game with 10-20 other people. Complete Chaos. Instead, it will be FC leaders and officers making most of the aesthetic decisions, as it should be to avoid that. It seems that many players in FCs are going to be removed from the design portion of housing.

It's vanity content meant to get players invested in the game and to subscribe more. However, it keeps players from get invested by taking the personal decisions ("I want to live in Limsa" "I'm going to buy a mog rug" etc.) away from most of them for 6-8 months.

I think being able to afford the house itself is an accomplishment if it stays at that price.

It's pretty mystifying that there are going to be FC housing but not personal housing, because presumably what you can do in your own house is less than what you can do in a FC which might have better privileges. So if you can do FC housing you can also do private housing. It'd make sense if it's the other way around, i.e. we get personal housing and FC housing later because FC housing is more ambitious, but I can't see any scenario where personal housing isn't just a more limited form of FC housing so what's the hold up?

But no FC would buy a S-sized house (a whole FC in one small room?). So it would cost more because they would buy a M-sized or L-sized house.

Both types get their own privileges.
As example for chocobo raising you would need a personal housing.

Didn't Yoshi say the houses would be on an auction system so if people keep bidding them up it could be very expensive.

It's a reverse auction.

Price starts high and drops as time goes on.

Eg. Small house begins at 850k. Each day that passes, the price might go down 10k. (or something similar)

Sounds about right.

Did anyone catch if they said if a house/land would be able to be shared by two people?

Also wondering if we should start ranking up in all three FC's. I really like the look of Limsa housing but not sure if anyone other zones showed beachfront housing.

In that case they can just implement the personal housing while leaving certain aspects like chocobo raising out until a later patch. I'm guessing most people just want a house where they can put down some furniture and put some trophies. The more advanced stuff can certainly wait.

With how people buy titan runs and Vanya gear willy nilly I bet these people with "magical throwaway funds" are going to buy up all the land plots easy.
