The only people being toxic in here are people bashing the strike and bashing healers for daring to complain in a polite and constructive manner.

I know that in the ffxiv community, suggesting there might possibly be any potential flaw in the game is blasphemy against your lord and savior yoshi p. It's always been the worst most cardinal sin, just above talking in party chat or calling out a herd of naked lalas running around a locked fc house.

um.... those who support the strike have been equally bashing those who don't agree with it. It was even insinuated that you aren't allowed an opinion on healers on BOTH sides if certain content hadn't been cleared in this VERY thread.

Next time, please be more careful with what you post. You claim this thread is toxic yet you are toxic, yourself, not only to this thread but to others.

I do wish that talks could be opened without personal attacks or backhand comments, so I get what you mean a bit.

However, I don't think it needs to be as far as locking the thread. A lot of good talk has come from this thread even through the attacks. In truth, while I support the Healer Strike, some of the talks has made me go back and re-examine things to make sure I am viewing everything in a way I agree with, so if anything, I appreciate the 2 sides to the conversation. It just takes a bit of reading between lines sometimes :/

It has come from both sides, but I know for my own headspace, the times I feel the "call to action to defend" is when I feel like someone is being a bit unfair. Let's be real though, it is better to not respond if you feel emotionally charged (talking 90% to myself). Not excusing things, just how I have seen a lot so far.

If you had seen their other messages in other threads, you would have known that they're only flaming and trying to disturb the conversation. Not adding anything to it.

I won't pretend people supporting the strike are perfect. But equaly? That doesn't look like anything near reasonble. For example, did people supporting the strike do things like (or at a similar level of) create and distribute lists of people posting in this thread and how much savage/ultimate content they cleared according to some website, with the explicit intent to shame them into silence?

I think we may see a phenomenon along the lines of the downfall of WoW. Just one thing that happens in WoW is that people stand in damage for more damage uptime because they know it wont kill them. This will bring about toxicity in game.
I also notice more toxicity in game in boring easy content like ST and Laby. When people are bored they seem to find ways to entertain themselves that arent healthy for the game.

I think with continued easy game content, the politeness of the ffxiv community to play the game as intended and move out of aoes will decline into people just standing in any aoes they can so they can keep attacking. Especially with massive room wide aoes we saw in the media tour dungeon.
If you do the aoes, you dont need a healer. So if you have a healer then you might as well stand in as much aoe as possible to do more damage to compensate for not running a third dps.

Maybe it would be good for the game though. It would give healers something to do and using the myriad ogcds to heal wont drop dps anyway. Even if a healer is pressed into healing with gcds too from a new meta of standing in aoe to deal more damage, i think the dps keeping uptime will outweigh the healer gcd healing instead of attacking anyway.

These things even get to a point where people will tell new players to not bother moving out of aoes because theyll just lose damage and make the content take longer for everyone. Then soon enough it will be considered toxic to move out of aoes.

This already is the way in other games. Dont think it cant happen here.

And then you have people like me doing ultimates as healer and still saying the role is boring as hell. But pretty sure my opinion doesn’t matter cause I’m an elitist or something….. while people that didn’t do ultimates getting told they are to casual and have no clue what they talk about because they didn’t do the hardest content aka spreadsheet city.

It’s the typical people talking without fact checking anything and flipping the narrative over and over and over again.

Anyone reading this who values privacy. Go on your lodestone character profile and write in the description:
fflogs-hidden
tomestone-hidden

This will force your character to opt-out of these two website. Realistically they should be like that by default but those website developers seem not to respect people's privacy to make it opt-in.
