Joined an expert dungeon in progress. Saw a tank running ahead before I could use the shortcut and he dies. Mob train then slaughters the DPS. Tank runs off to grab train again and dies again as I die as well. Walked right out of that dungeon.
Hm. Didn't go as a healer, but eh. WoD, CoD. I eat 4 stacks of the lightning because I was a bit slow on the uptake. Stay alive because being overgeared is good from time to time. The next thing I see is a swiftcasted SS on me from my FC's healer.
I think she almost had a heart attack >.<
Another stupid story: she had to use Benediction on me in KotL because my laptop decided that I have to eat AoE's on breakfast, lunch and dinner. I never felt so embarrassed for myself in the game. Think I said sorry to her 10 times before I calmed down.
Ran Levi EX as a healer recently and have had to solo heal the last 20% twice. Once I lagged at one point and spammed Medica and prayed. The other time I didn't lag but I was up to about 11 stacks and had to be right next to whoever I was healing to reach them.
I don't know if this is horror, but I don't get healers that Med2 before pull or spam Med2... I get healers that flat out refuse to use Medica or Medica 2 ... at all ... It is like they are afraid of it ... no matter how much aoe damage is going out (WP First Boss Fire During Spears for example). I have had to sing Mana song so much in Expert Roulette (Sometimes I like to BRD :3) fights because of Cure 2 Spam and Regen on everyone ALL. THE. TIME. Spam. Boss at 50% ... Healer with <100 MP ... What The...?? -Sings- ... -_- Srsly, your not even dpsing or holying or medica spamming... where is your mana going?! :O
o_o This is a thing? You're just talking strictly WHM right? Since you just said "healers" I want to clarify. XD
If the WHM is not using Medica/Medica II than they are gimping themselves. Cure II costs 266MP at level 50. Medica only costs 372. Cure II has a potency of 650, Medica has a potency of 300. Casting Medica twice (600 potency) would take about 5seconds and would cost you 744 MP as opposed to casting Cure II on everyone (650 each) at about 10seconds and 1064 MP. This isn't even including Medica II (3.5second cast time, 452 MP cost, 200 + 500 potency after 30seconds) or Regen (186 MP cost, 1050 potency after 21seconds). Casting Cure II and Regen on everyone would cost you 1808 MP... So I can kind of see where all their MP has gone lol.
Casting Medica II once is generally enough to keep everyone besides the tank alive against the WP HM first boss. I generally just DS + SC Medica II then Regen the tank.
I wasn't the healer but I felt pretty bad for the healers...
So got into a Shiva EX with about 25 minutes till maint. Even one mess up and we'll have time to do it right? I'm a WAR, Pld with 9k health, no new players, seems good.
Pld goes to tank first phase...and almost immediatly loses aggro and can't get it back. I take it, things go ok for the rest. Pld doesn't try to go for it again after so I'm tanking. My WAR literally just hit 50 (I have tank gear from Pld being my first though.), and I have some DPS items on more for ACC than anything else and I'm pretty sure I'm a little squishy even for a WAR. Which isn't helped by people stacking on each other and getting most of the group (including one of the healers dead.) Wipe.
Then we try again. Once more Pld can't keep hate, though this time eventually gets it back. Then they don't turn for the first sword move. This run was our best one getting down to sup-25% but still wipe.
HERE'S WHERE THINGS SUCK.
So third and final try, just barely enough time if we do it right. Things go well, Pld has a little trouble still but keeps aggro for the most part. Get through, I take for second phase, all well...then I get ahead of myself and get smacked with bow. Proclaim sorry, get rezzed, eventually have to take back aggro because the Pld dies. Things go ok again...then I die AGAIN to bow because quess how I moved? Thats right, I didn't! At this point the Pld is dead to because frozen, and most of the group is dead. Sch lb3s...and then we end up wiping anyways despite us all being back, in part cause all but said healer and one dps were double'd weakend.
I feel really bad for them, they were good healers too...
lol, sorry, yes I mean WHM's... but yeah, it isn't just once I've seen this but several times in fact. Medica 2 can be much more promising then spamming Regen (T9 and T13 come into mind ... can you imagine trying to regen everyone after Megaflare or Metor Stream ... not to mention Gigaflare! :O).
I don't know what to say to them so I don't say anything, I probably should, but then I kind of expect "Mind your Biz! I R HEALER!", "Just DPS!" .... in response to it :(.
I've had this happen in Titan EX once, while on bard. THe person was cureing, one at a time, after Titan's jump landing, and during stomps. Needless to say, we were always running around super low on HP and dying/wiping very often at early stages (pre-heart phase >_>). I just didn't understand why we were dying with constant low HP till I watched their habits and realized what they were doing. I had, at one point, been running around at 25% HP - after Second Wind - for quite a while before being tossed a bone. And dying once to stomps because of it.
I was not a happy camper, as a WHM main. It's not hard to medica when necessary.
My derp story : Stone Vigil. 2:30am. Duty finder by myself. The tank pulls three or four mobs into a side room. I follow closely behind to heal - when whoops another set of two dragon aevis come lurking around the corner and i pull the aggro, healing myself, speeding towards the tank - nearly down to 1/3 of my hp before the tank can take them off of me. Bard goes : Lol...duh....
I throw heal after heal (bless Cure II), dancing around, watching my mana and the tanks hp bar burn down like a firecracker...tank and i keep on dancing... like a miracle the tank and i managed to survive... Afterwards we have to wait for my mana to get back (yes WHM problem) the Dps said : Dude most tanks would have died on that one instantly.
Tank and I compliment each other on making it through. The rest of the run was cake. Been long since I´ve been that close to a heart attack outside of coil or extreme modes.
I got some more so personal derpage than horror persay but still cause me and the party some panic I guess
forgot which dungeon it was but I was on my SCH kinda in the zone the tanks hp starts going down so I switch to heal and was like why are my heals not working good, you can kinda guess where this is going... , left cleric one whoopsie
I started to work on my WHM again and I had recently changed up my hotbar to better optimize it. Did low level roulette and got Cutters well the first few rooms I was a complete derp kept hitting things I didn't want, guess I shoulda tested my hotbar changes before going into a dungeon.
So I was the horror i guess in these two instances /shy
Not really a horror story by anyone's fault but my own. But still heart attacks D:
So, I'd gotten a new computer and monitor (after the old comp AND the monitor decided they were having nothing of.... well, anything) so I had to reset all my skills, my HUD, etc... and I'm a little annoyed because I can't remember where I had some of the skills (Holy, etc). I'd start going to the general location of the original skills placements, but find nothing there. "where the hell did I put my Holy...."
First horror - I'm only used to a 17" monitor.... now I have a 24" - I'm so used to having the party list right on top of my face by way of lack of screen room, so I felt slow in noticing HP bars... I used to able to see whats going on around me at the same time (just gunna have to move the party list, I guess). Now go straight into T6, 7 and 8 like this without much whirl given to get my eyes used to the distance. lol D:
Second horror - co-healer was in dire need of healing and about to die... somehow my dominant hotkey bar (1) had been flipped to bar 2... so I'm trying to spam Stone Skin on the poor guy instead of healing him -_-; Took me several seconds of trying to spam random skills to realize this, in the middle of the battle..... it was either T7 or T8 o.oa we sorta spammed the turns in order so it's all blurring together...
Third horror.... we were still just learning T8 with only two people in the LS that knew how to do it. So after our first go (just to get the first half down and then work on where we ended up stuck) we get an explanation about the big/little circles. I wrote down the diagram, but hard to pick up on the fly just yet. We go and pull again. Unfortunately, the two guys that knew what they were doing were trapped in the circles.... Me with my shitty memory skills as to which circle required a person where.... stepped in when everyone scattered. Apparently, my placement was a good thing, because I'd then been marked as "Saseal seems to undestand the circles, so we'll mark Sas as the third person to handle this mechanic".
I wut? D: I just derped and happened to get it right ;-; Nooooo, don't give the nubcake Saseal any important roles that can kill uusssss! T^T
....and so I had heart attacks for the rest of the night, every time the circles came up :|
On the upside..... 6 noobs of 8 and we managed to down it in one night before timer up (nerfed coils, I know.... but still not bad for 6 noobs going in blind-ish)
This is similar to when I changed from PS3 to PS4. The difference was huge and it took a bit to get use to. The amount of screen space you have on PS4 when compared to PS3 is ridiculous and the HUD took me forever to figure out and get comfortable with. It's hard to step outside your comfort zone and change something. lol
Yeah, I was so frustrated trying to get my skills perfect again, but now having to adapt to the new placements for some of them. Pretty much my first 5 hotkeys are memorized - after that it gets a little foggy. 'Medica in 6 then Medica II in 7? Or was it Medica II then Medica...'. And then frustrated with myself in missing things that were originally closer together/in front of me - I put the Focus Target HP/cast bar up where I always had it, under the hard focus monster bar info.... but then it was so high I didn't see it. o_O Moved it down, it was blending in with the fight and still missing the cast bars. I was not a happy camper when I was derping to Twisters when it's just not that hard to dodge.... Derp around in an 'S' shape when you see the cast bar until it's gone. easy.
Need. To find. Happy. Medium. Sas no likey change! Change bad! Sas Sma-!..... wait, no, too expensive...
I've so far moved the party list, focus target, etc all around my hotkeys and inserted next to my chat box. If I don't see stuff that way, I'm a lost cause :| (though, with my luck, I've just blocked stuff, instead of being too spread out...)
Another horror story. ._. But again my own doing and it's making me flop around on the floor and ask to be put out of my misery.
Saw someone in PF asking for T5 help. I help them out, no problem. Managed to only once? miss Twister (I moved the focus target down, after that, but thats when it was getting lost in the background, too... but STILL not nearly as bad as the next time I go in...). Had a lil' trouble, but nothing bad or unexpected. We had it down no problem. It was easy, just like the last few peeps I helped (PF/FC/LS).
FC mate said someone in his other LS was asking for T5 clear help maybe 15 mins later. Sure, why not, I'll help them out. Twin isn't really that hard, anymore.
Cue not dodging almost every other Twister (I focused too hard on the MT's health - which was low after Twin's AoE after snakes... a few times). I was soaking through MP like holy hell more than usual (sorry, Bard x.x) - I think I was taking on too much? SoS was always on CD at the worst of times. Dippy me kept being in the middle when Dread Knights show up (I FINALLY trained my brain to stawpit within the last few attempts) between twisters and 'Ohshit'ing into sprints to get to the MT to heal and not noticing where the hell I am in the mean time. Didn't even see conflag symbol on me once (good thing I didn't trap anyone ><). Got too close to Twin and got flopped on.... twice (didn't die, but uh, embarrassing). I was a walking clusterf--- for that run.
I swear, it's like a switch was turned off (my focus...?), somewhere after the first clear party, and made every mistake known to T5.
We completed with 17 seconds left on the timer, but erf.... not proud of myself, that run.
Said Sconeskin instead of Stoneskin during raid last night. orz Never gonna live that one down.
Yesterday went to High Roulette and felt like chilling out so queued my BLM.
Stone Vigil HM poped up and Tank immediately said they were new.
I went with "oh, then just go at your own pace". BLM can chill out pretty good.
Yep, the Tank was maybe ilvl 70~75, healer wasnt that far ahead either, and the DRG there was also under ilvl 90. Their best weapon was maybe i80.
Okay sooo resigning to the party and finding surprising how well they handled things, I just proceded like normal and explained the bosses mechanics.
I did warn them about the last boss properly, I swear! But once the boss summoned its copy I proceeded to LB them when they were close together, to which the WHM I think felt the motivation to jump in and holy them, after which single cast they were swiftly floored...
Took me a few seconds to process that...
It was like *bosses together* *WHM steps in* *WHM casts holy* *Holy flashes away* *WHM is dead*
Poor guy D:
Luckily tho, that last boss is really easy to heal so even a BLM can handle it :/
I cant blame them for getting bored and wanting to holy...
Speaking of Holy, I also went to Keepers of the Lake on my Extreme that very same day, and right when we were on about to enter the first boss, the BLM companion said "sorry, have to attend my 3yo for a bit", to which I answered "oh damn, good luck with that".
Tank didnt wait since he maybe thought just a single BLM will suffice... but then our WHM had a firefox updating boycot and saw the DC icon on them... BLM HEALS GO!! >_>;;;!!!
Luckily enough the WHM came back and wasnt locked out (unlike the other BLM), and managed to up the WAR tank I was barely keeping up in my losing fight... then I proceeded to handle DPS and Bombs relocation... guess I did a good job because managed to take down the boss to a 40% and no bomb was going off at all, but then our WHM got bored and felt like being helpful by Swiftcasting Holy on a pair of bombs to push them away... and as if the boss was waiting for that chance, turned around and aimed right at the WHM which was right in the direction of the 20 or so small bombs + 2 big ones...
All I said was "uhoh..." and casted my magic shield on myself and the healer D:
Somehow we survived... but damn that was scary...
Is Holy a trend for WHMs to cast their own demise or something O_o;;;?
This first one isn’t really a healer horror story, but it confused and bemused me, so I thought I would share it anyway.
So I was firing up my usual Expert Roulette and was thrown into Keeper of the Lake. The tank is a very well geared Paladin with a range of Dreadwyrm gear and a Curtana Nexus and shield. The Dragoon was handsomely adorned with i120 gear and the Black Mage in his Augmented Ironworks casting gear glory with my i120 Scholar self rounding up this motley crew. So all in all, a pretty good party and an encouragingly quick run ahead of us.
Towards the run up to Midgardsormr, as the airship sat in the skies, poised to drop bombs onto us, the Black Mage began to become bafflingly unpleasant. He was criticising the tank down to the finest detail in a wildly condescending manner, berating him for not making perfect use of the airship’s AoE attack. I could not fathom why, because it would not have mattered either way given the high DPS we had as a group.
Then during the Midgardsormr fight, he openly mocked the tank, with witty jabs such as “lol tank”, followed by the eloquent “who did you pay off to get carried through FCoB, tank?”. When the tank found himself caught in one volcanic plume attack during the second dragon phase of the fight, our Wordsmith reacted with a jubilant “f**king hell, tank, LOLOLOL”. Even when the boss was felled, he couldn’t resist one last jab regarding his Dreadwyrm gear. I stepped in to defend the poor guy, stating clearly that he had done nothing fundamentally wrong. He tanked well, may have got into a few AoEs from time to time, but most importantly, IT WAS A GOOD, NEAR-FLAWLESS RUN. What was his problem?
Guy then turned on me and called me a subpar Scholar, recommending that I stick to DPSing rather than healing, because he allegedly could have done more healing as a Black Mage than the designated healer of the party. Suffice to say, I laughed my arse off as the guy quickly left the instance.
Then after that, will be a short summary of my wonderful tales in the World of Darkness – or should I say, World of Derpness.
- WE CAME SO CLOSE TO WIPING TO THE FIRST ROOM. You know, with the Chimeras? Apparently people were so entranced by the ominous, crimson circles on the floor that they continued to step into it for prolonged periods. And apparently people felt it would be swell to ignore mechanics and just eat as many of the Garms’ attacks in the face as possible.
- Angra Mainyu: we had folks eating a blast to the face over and over again, because they elected to stand in front of the boss. We had folks persistently die to the floor mechanics, because alternating between red and white required effort. Hourglasses were ignored at one point. One guy had to be ejected from the group, because he made it clear that he was not going to bother pulling his weight. My co-healer was miles away and did less healing on our group than a couple of other healers from another alliance.
- Five-headed Dragon: my alliance’s tank was the main tank and was irritatingly impatient. He pulled even though six people hadn’t yet entered the arena, cussing them for being too slow. You know, despite the fact that it would actually be FASTER to wait for everyone to be there first? Despite missing six people, we managed to take down this boss without too much incident, but two of the locked-out players decided to drop out (perhaps I don’t blame them!).
- Atomos gauntlet: okay, I was sort of the problem here. I was constantly being devoured.
- Cerberus: oh dear god, what was going on? No one was near the main tank by the front and we had some people scattered around, culminating in quite the horror show when a good handful of us had the hysteria status ailment land on our heads. My co-healer would constantly stand in the goo without being mini’ed, leading to at least three instant (tasty) deaths. I had to single-handedly tether the boss up, because no one else bothered with the chains. Then Wolfsbanes somehow went out of control and coupled with people hanging around by Cerberus’s tail area and being happily swiped in the face regularly, we had an embarrassing couple of wipes to this guy. There were only so many hard-cast rez spells I could conjure up in a short space of time.
- Cloud of Darkness: is it over yet? Nope! What do you do when you have the crosshairs on you? You run away, right? Not this guy, who proceeded to dance around in our cluster of a group, almost downright murdering us all in the process. I presume he was kicked after that. It appears to me that when a certain, desirable piece of gear has already been attained from a preceding boss fight, it gives green light to some players to just troll. We wiped, because ignoring the snakes was a grand idea. As a result, a good handful of people walked out, including our main tank and my co-healer. We continued with replacements, until another clean wipe due to a lack of volunteers to allow the meteors to drop onto their dainty heads. Someone turned a little pissy because the Scholars’ Sacred Soils were scattered around (almost as if we weren’t all bunched around in the same place as one tidy group!) and most of the group took a deadly Particle Beam to the face with 3% to go.
Somehow, we still finished the whole run, after a good hour and fifteen minutes of derpage. What did I get out of it? Not a single comm, not a single good gear piece, no sign of a minion drop anywhere and only some tomes I could have got just by doing a regular Amdapor Keep HM run or something.
Ah, well.
I've been doing all my zodiac dungeons and I am wondering lately if new lv 50 tanks know how to use flash. Even I ran a dungeon with a tank who never used shield oath at all. I told him a thousand times but apparently he didn't take a look to the chat.
Eorzean Horror Story....
It's funny since i moved servers I'm in the EU pool now so in DF you get tons of French players. WoD has become a battle with my alliance as much as with the raid itself. I know some decent French players but there seems to be this group of kids from there who are beyond clueless on what to do. I don't pretend I'm some top player I'm not but the things i do often i do them well because i learn from mistakes and get used to mechanics and how to make the most of what i can do. Some of these players in WoD lately make me look like a world beater none of the things you need to do are particularly difficult even first time with some simple instructions I've had people in my group not die once. I don't know how some people get that far without learning even basic simple things like how to use focus target and what their own abilities do.
Not really a horror story but:
I was doing a run of Cutter's Cry as a SCH and the run was going very well. Everyone did what they had to and everything died quickly (especially the first boss)but then things got... interesting on the Chimera.
It was going normal at first, just dps and avoid AoEs, but when its eyes burned blue the Ninja didn;t get out fast enough and was one shot. So I rezzed (hard cast. No Swiftcast.) him, and he stated that he was stupid for waiting so long. I said it was fine, the boss isn't hard.
Well, the next time its eyes burned blue (like right after I rezzed the NIN) he was one shot by it again. He thought he got out in time (and to me it look like he did too but w/e) So I was rezzing him but I had to move during mid cast, so I had to recast it and by this time I got him up the tank was down. So I rezzed him, and then the BLM was down. Then the Tank died again.
So the whole fight I'm just trying to just keep moving and trying to find time to hard-cast all these resurrections and healing whoever needs it so they don't fall (again). Eos was a big help because she kept me up. Well, I got one on the tank, he grabbed and pulled the boss, then I got the BLM. Everyone got healed up and I still had good MP so I just focused on healing and shielding the team while they burned through the last 1/3rd of its health.
I got all 3 commendations, all without dying and all with out Swiftcast (since I set it for level 50). It was fun and a real test of my skill as a healer.
I wonder the same thing myself. Did they pay for the account? Or are they just that clueless to the basic mechanics of the game that they, some how, got carried through all the content to get here?
WoD is actually easy once you get the mechanics down. As you stated, nothing is particularly difficult that you have to do there. And if everyone knows what they are doing (its been a long time since this was a thing) its almost as easy as ST.
A big examples of this is the first boss. Once everyone knows what to do he doesn't take that long and does next to no damage. Otherwise everyone is dying all the time. And no one seems to want to bother with mechanics these days. :|
Speaking of WoD...
Last time I was in there - my group was awesome (...minus me when I derped in Angrah), but... I can't say much for the other two Alliances x.x
Co-healer D/Ced on the way from the first trash to Angrah, so I solo healed up to Atomos when a new one came in.
The derp was real in Angrah - myself included. Now, I haven't died to Double Vision in ages. I guess that day was time for a refresh on that. :| I don't even know why I ended up being that dumb, when I knew better. Either way, I'm noticing that I'm healing a lot of the other alliances people in the fights. Went to raise one of my own party members.... couldn't see them or the target symbol int he mess of names and effects (I usually check they're in range so I don't waste my swift cast) so I moved in towards the middle to make sure my Raise range was broad in a wide circle. Aha, found him, he was hidden under Angrah. Now, because some of my hotkeys are a little off after resetting via new comp, I hit swiftcast + Holy instead of SC + Raise -_- (They're next to each other. I'll take that as an indication that they used to be swapped pre-new comp, and I haven't brought back my macro, yet... and honestly the macro had been annoying me, anyway). Sigh. *facepalm at self* And then DoubleVision on strike three appeared right after - sprinted for the side and... didn't make it. Down I went. And down I stayed because none of the other healers wanted to raise my alliance's only healer o_O (which, yeah, I made an idiot of myself so I assumed they didn't want to raise an idiot and Holy makes everything incredibly noticable - but come on. I think the soon-to-come description is just as bad as my blunder - if not worse). Second, while I'm laying there, I notice some other alliances healers and people are down..... and no one is getting them up. And no one consistently healing the MT (Also, people need to stay out of the eyebeam zone -_-). So boom, down the MT goes. Another OT picks Angrah up. Boom, down they go. Our tank picks it up..... boom, down they go, too. >_< DPS dropping between pickups, as well. It's like, I'm staring at the other healers, one of which had been raised, thinking "Are you people kidding me!?" Went through ALL three tanks without heals!? *Slamming head on desk while watching all of this unfold*
We only got lucky that Angrah's HP was low and someone LB'd.
The rest of the raid went okay, though.... I guess Angrah woke everyone up (myself included). Five-Headed didn't go bad solo-healing, just wasn't easy, either.
How about this WAR that would let his wrath stacks fall each time WP HM. I even focus targeted him to see the wrath counter dissipate on pulls. No IB, unchained, thrill of battle once. Not even a minor one like foresight or bloodbath. So I knew where this going. Wiped once on that big stairway pull, it was too much for him to handle and I burned all lustrates too but I knew this was going to be a bad end. If he infuriated and used a cooldown it would have been sustainable. The next time he used vengence once (this tells me he is new to tanking this). He was pretty lousy with pulls and letting the bards tank a mob or two, and consistently took mobs out of my shadow flares to get bigger pulls. Just sloppy in-general.
Garuda HM, was farming light.
Suddenly, a wild Newbie team appears!
MT, me, other healer and one BRD were vets.
It was a rezzing party for me and the other healer.
This one BRD hugged the floor more than I ever got any action IRL
We got it down to 15%, miraculously. Then the other healer agroed both the sisters and got one shotted in the tornado. I raised him, but it was too late when I myself dropped.
It was exciting, yes. It was very intense, yes. We even had to kill satin! But God... it felt like the old days of i70 again.
Just got sworn at and kicked from Qarn NM by a WHM because I asked if the tank needed any pointers, as I noticed he was struggling to hold hate on multiple mobs. WHM just lost it and launched into a tirade of swearing and then I was kicked....This has honestly ruined my night :(
I think I know what might had happened, because I had the same problem while doing this dungeon as a WHM for the first time: As I read all texts in German, there won´t be any hint like "the eyes are blue, the eyes are purple". Everybody told me to read the chat-log, etc. and everytime i read it there was nothing to see like (translated) "the eyes are glowing evil" ... and I was like "THERE IS NO COLOUR!!!!"
Well, we managed to survive as I could heal myself when i got hit by the AOE and with my second group I just found out that you just have to look right on the middle of the screen where it says "RAM-HEAD + DRAGON HEAD" :-))) ...so, maybe he was German and confused as the English texts are different :-)))
That's why I removed swift-holy from the bar entirely (in fact all the DPS skills are on the second bar.) I found it frustrating when a combat skill would be cast and blow the cooldown. So one bar for Healing mode, one bar for CS.
So...
Today was derp-raids.. Fails all around. I'm checking my screenshots so I'm not mixing them up...
World of Derp - This ... was actually the least-worst today. My party was fine, Co-healer SCH was fine... two bards, two BLM's and a SMN. Only problem was Alliance B had a troll who kept trying to get the party killed (they were targeted first and ran straight into everyone) on Cloud of Darkness. So one wipe happened on CoD when one of the pads were missed.
Circus Tower... this screenshot explains it all...
http://i58.tinypic.com/mmshmw.jpg
SCH was kicked at first chance (after wipe at Scylla), replaced with the other kind of WHM that everyone hates... the one that only heals and jumps around. Two wipes. One at Queen Scylla, one at Glasya Labolas, where the Clockwork Squires all head towards the other healer in my party, and the second time around headed to the healer in another party. *shrug*
Labyrinth of Trolls...
About 30 seconds into this, the tone I have assigned to Alliance is going off every few seconds... and a screenshot will probably save me describing this.
1) Tank in my party is trolling Alliance B. Alliance B is non-stop spamming the Alliance Chat, Alliance C has super-weak DPS.
2) Co-healer starts the first fight in CS, and drops dead 3 seconds into the fight. Followed by half the party.
By this point I can feel my blood pressure going up because I can feel it on my face.
At the first fight where everyone splits up, Party B won't stay on the pads, and wipes everyone. So one of the people in my party run over and stand on their pad the second time around. None the less we're still the first ones done and we wait like an extra 3 minutes for Alliance C.
http://i59.tinypic.com/34yzrsj.jpg
Tank drags one of the boses into the lava, so I'm of course not only healing through that damage but those who also jump into the lava. The party is mostly DPS. Now unless there is some reason for this...
At Phlegethon, raid wipes again. Tank in my party decides to force Alliance B to do the mechanics and drags the boss to their pad.
http://i59.tinypic.com/zu2oba.jpg
On the plus side the wait for each raid was less than 90 seconds.
Wow. That LotA run sounds like hell. I couldn't even imagine. I'd probably just drop it and come back later.
Also hate when people decide to throw on crafting gear to soulbind, not only without telling anyone but also compounded with the fact that every single one I've ever had do this didn't even try to pull their own weight or do mechanics.
Not really my healer horror story (I have some but they are reeeeeeeally old), but I am leveling ninja so I joined the low level roulette for bonus. I get brayflox, with 3 new players.
I don't mind new players, I love to help... We start, the conjurer (I realized it was conjurer a bit late) proceed to heal with cleric stance on and the tank didn't flash. I immediately said to the healer to remove CS and explained why... I got ignored. First boss wipe, we revive, healer put CS on again. I remind again about CS but I get ignored again. We kill the boss, and we wipe on the next trash. After reviving, healer forgets CS (but not for long, just enough to reach the other boss and diligently apply CS again). We beat the boss without wiping and proceed to the next room... The bard decides to pull extra enemies, healer panic and starts spamming medica, I try to save the healer but once I get aggro the tank won't take it from me... Result as you guess is a wipe, anyway in a way or another we get to the next boss and we kill it with no problems.
We finally arrive to the last boss, I explain everything about the strategy but I don't get any reply... We wipe a minimum of 8 times until we are at 3 minutes left on the timer... I just gave up, I couldn't take it anymore ;_;
I seriously hope that they didn't listen because they didn't understand the language or had another chat log selected (full E party, but I am aware that people may not know English anyway).
As for my own horror story... Well, I need to go a bit back in time, when the light farming for nexus started.
I was confident enough to heal trials as a scholar in df, so I queued for the trial roulette and got Titan hm. As I said, I was confident... Until the black mage pulled and died, a bit of chaos later and the tank had Titan. Ok, no problem, swiftcast+res black mage (even if I would come to realize it was a mistake).
People seems to think that they are invincible and don't dodge plumes, more deaths... Both me and the other healer try to keep everyone alive, between people eating bombs, plumes and everything they can. We wipe.
First thing I read in party chat is "scholar, heal. Do you know what {adloquium} is?" Yes, I know what it is. I was using it. Then another message "don't bother raising dead people" and I am like, ok.
Second try, my cohealer dies immediately, I raise him because I realize that probably I won't be able to soloheal if people don't dodge anything. Fast forward to post heart phase, the tank turns toward me and I get a mountain buster in the face and die, the other healer dies because of plumes (as everyone else).
I get blamed for the wipe, and called names, the black mage (yep, I really hated that guy so I remember him) even says "I wasn't raised :D".
I decided to leave the duty, I didn't care about the 30 minutes penality, as my confidence in healing just disappeared. Ofc my fc was able to restore it when we made a group for Titan ex runs and I healed with no problems :)
My GLD tank just now was so bad, that my WHM Chocobo plushie that sits on my desk suffers from post traumatic stress disorder from now on! He tanked with Provoke only, didn't used Flash, didn't answer when I asked him if he needs tanking tips, just kept standing in Thunderclaps water the whole fight, got blown up by bombs because he thought I can heal that and everyone else had aggro, just not him! Excuse while I go cry under the shower, so my neighbours can't hear me...
I was the horror. :( I just came back from traveling for a week - I had been using my laptop to do daily ixali, but it wasn't really enough for combat. Decided to heal ex roulette with a friend.
The tank let us know he was i90 only, so we were in for some fun. He had trouble holding hate, understandably.. But on the first boss, I ate the lightning three times. First time, blm friend managed to keep me alive with a well timed mdef buff.. Died the next two (we wiped once). I only ever saw the marker once (which I dodged).. I don't know if being away killed me attention or what, but I never ever saw the marks..
People always cry that this game is so easy and how people need to do the Coil because it's so easy.
But none of them have done the Crystal Tower raids on a daily basis. Those raids will test you FAR more than any silly EX or Coil run.
It was a new SCH, still wearing that i50 gear you got from your class quests, in an ST run.
I was BRD, so I hang around the back.
This SCH keeps on spamming Succor and Sacred soil on top of me. Even when there's no damage incoming. You heard that right. Sacred. Soil.
While the WHM desperately heals the tank alone. The Succors never made it to the tank at all. When he mentions the SCH wasting her mana, the SCH was all
"I want galvanize for everybody."
*headdesk
Did I mention she was panic healing? I didn't see Physics once at all. Just... more sacred soil...
Was getting my relic on my alt's Scholar (i62), Titan HM time.
Everyone was new except for me. EVERYONE. Tanks, other healer, and DPS (well one of them had a relic and more HP than the tanks, but that bard was always the first to drop because of not getting out of plumes in time).
Technically my character was new, but I know the fight like the back of my hand :P
So we start. Phase one no issue of course. Phase 2, half of them didn't understand the first set of bombs. Then half die from plumes. Wipe in phase 3. Gaols not being burned. Main tank was standing too far and fell when floor broke.
Second attempt got a bit further, but wipe around the same part. Main tank died again the same way at same point. Other tank takes over. Wipe (other healer dead, DPS dead, I don't have swiftcast).
3rd attempt (now with 10% echo) we get further still, but wipe at heart phase.
4th attempt I try to explain bombs, but tank pulls before I can. Wipe at heart phase. Still not killing Gaols fast enough (and not ignoring second gaol)
5th attempt 30% echo. I explained bombs and told them to follow me around if they still weren't sure. (marked myself). Beat heart, I placed a waymark for main tank to stand on (safe area from bombs). Wipe because of column bombs, tank also didn't sit tight on the mark as close to the edge as possible like I told him.
6th attempt 40% echo. We win. Tank stayed on the mark that I placed, no bombs hit him except for the cross sets. Other healer died soon after heart phase. One bard shoved off by landslide. Solo healed the rest with my i55 book lol. Couldn't raise because MP and no swiftcast lol.
Two or three commendations. Woo.
*Edit added tidbit about gaols.
That bard sounds like me
Died four times. Could *not* see the damn markers in time to save myself. Response time bad. Computer sucks.
I said leave me dead damn it.
