I wouldn't swear to this as a good guide, but it may help you to take you in the general direction in which you want to go.

While Gloom purple is lacking from the charts, to me it looks like Gloom purple is close/between Regal Purple/Abysseal blue. At this point I think just darkening the colors is what you want to do, so maybe try adding more berries, to make it darker. If you do get Abysseal or Ink blue, I think that will put you in the right direction. I'm not the best person to ask, but just a suggestion. In my experience - and failure of 12 attempts to get to black, pulling out color, or trying to cancel a blue, or purple, just resulted in going backwards as far as light/dark went.

You need to lower your red and green by a couple of fruits while keeping blue as is. I would do a couple of berries procs to do that then 2 apples, two pears to keep red and green as is and lower blue back down.

You may do all together or do the berries first and review the values then to adjust.

First, you need to lower them all across the board, so you may wanna do a couple of sets of all three deepeners, making sure you get the six procs. Blue would still be up so I would then do a couple of pear and apple sets.

yuo can do it all together too, but might overdo blue, so maybe darken across the board first and adjust blue later.

Any idea why my earlier feed of 2 apples and 2 pears brought me from royal blue (34 42 96) to gloom purple (74 62 89) when the red and green should have neutralized each other. No way 2 feeds can bring it up 40 points. SOmething seems to be off with the formula..

I got my Celeste Green chocobo yesterday and I'm super happy!

I used 13 plums and 2 o berries, the same as other users have posted. :o

So, I'm stuck at slate grey ("stuck" is used loosely since I like the color), but want to go for charcoal grey or soot black. Anyone have any advice what to do from here?

I tried 1/1/1 lightening fruit to try to drop all of the colors down together a bit more, but somehow ended up at lilac purple. Thankfully it only took one feeding to get BACK to slate grey from there.

Okay so finally got started and it didn't go my way. I haven't exactly recorded my results, but I'm currently at Opo-Opo Brown, just fed 3 Apples (each producing a feathers message) and I'm trying to get to Some shade of darker green. Am I going the right direction or have I totally messed up?

im not sure why... but last night i fed my chocobo 50 times in a row. and all 50 times it said the new plume message lol gonna see what color it is when i get home. :P

Yeah, I got 2 feather messages (1 for each fruit) , which was weird cause supposedly 1 fruit with 1 message should suffice, but seeing my result with kobold brown I tried to do something different.

Stable condition was good

Where can i find the latest/most accurate dying guides for the colours? Is there a best resource?

omg <3 so far I got lime green, trying to figure out how to get it to that

Well I reset my choc to it's original color.. lemons are cheap now. It was easier to accomplish my goal of Sunset from there with 24 Apples in one feeding and only the first msg did not provide a feather changing. I just went off what others have posted 22-25 apples and got it first try. I am officially done for now.

I was stuck in a regal purple/ royal blue loop for a bit. There is some data on my Chocobo Color Map, although I don't have Ink Blue mapped. You are welcome to submit your data as well :)

You need to up the blue by quite a bit.

You're currently at RGB 182 182 131

Need to get to RGB 173 192 202

You should feed Valfruits and Plums evenly to bring the blue up while maintaining the red and green equal as they are and then one more valfruit. At least 4 or 5 plums to an equal amount of valfruit+1 to do one up red and one down green. You can do it all together or review after the first feed to adjust the last valfruit.

Any advice on how to reach this point? Like I said a few posts up I'm sitting at slate grey and feel like I'm very close to soot black, but don't want to move from there without some info.

What did you use to go from currant to soot black? Curious to see if it was close to the same fruits that I used.

Thanks for this, I just fed a Plum, as I expected, and I directly got a "new feathers" message, will see in 6 hours, bet it should be Royal Blue again! I'll try stuff from there to get into Ink Blue and report on your Gdoc.

If you're still on shades of the grey, the best bet is feeding even amounts of berries/pears/apples.

Mine was Slate Grey at a point too, i got it to charcoal grey with 5 Berries | 5 Pears | 5 Apples

If you hit charcoal successfully, repeat the same feeding, if your colors are properly even it should theoretically drop you on Soot Black (mine didn't, apparently even though rounding made it go charcoal grey my hidden blue values were slightly higher than the rest, and so i got Abyssal Blue, then after doing some thinking went Grape Purple > Currant Purple > Soot Black).

I'm currently at apple green and would like something a little darker. Of the three, which would be the easiest to get to from where I am at now; Morbol Green, Turquoise, or Hunter Green? What fruits should I use?

Once I get to Blood red, how do I make sure I go in dalamund red and not regal purple?

YAY! So unexpected. I fed it O'Ghomoro Berry x17, Xelphatol Apple x15, Valfruit x18. In that order and all back to back. Let it sit over night and it went straight to Regal Purple. Was expecting Blood red but was gonna go for regal anyway. IM SO HAPPY!!!!

Fed fruitx9 but no messages
Then fed berry x1 got message

Ended up at dalamund red

Thanks alot for taking the time to help me! But I'm kind of confused. I've been told that if I feed fruits and don't see the change color messege it actually doesn't count as if I didn't feed it anything. Is that right? you told me about feeding a number of fruits regardless of the messeges, then feeding-without-a-messege does affects color?

Any fruits you feed are shifting you around the RGB spectrum behind the scenes so they technically all count. When you receive a "Feather's Changing" message it's because you've successfully fed enough fruits to push you from one Dye range into the next.

I went from Desert Yellow to Royal Blue with 25 feather messages from berries.
How would I proceed towards Soot Black from here?

If any of the color gurus please give me some advice I'd be very grateful.

Not without message, unless each shows the feathers are changing message, they didn't count.

Got my Chocobo to Charcoal Grey from Regal Purple with 1 Mamook Pear so what should I feed it now to get it to Soot Black?

Ok so I feed those 3 items like you said and got the new plumage message every time, Time to wait 6 hrs and see. I will post back to see what color I get and hopefully you could help me out again and point me in the right direction, really confused with the whole color theory at this point since everyone pretty much has their on idea on it.

More and more Soot Blacks popping up. Grats to all the new owners of super awesome - and somewhat of a challenge to achieve - Soot Black Chocobos!
