Tanaka or Yoshi?

I don't really understand this, I think Yoshi has made a ton of difficult decisions and changes; in fact, he has in many ways completely overhauled the FFXIV that existed at launch.

And too charismatic? You don't like that? I think that is my favorite thing about Yoshi, his openness and involvement with the community. It's unheard of really for someone in his position, and it is unbelievably refreshing imho.

NOW, I do agree in that I can't help but be concerned with the way that the game is developing in certain ways. Like the overuse of instances and anima. Or the content finder, which I do want but am concerned with how it will end up being implemented. In this respect, I think Tanaka's product would have been very different and potentially more enjoyable from my own personal viewpoint.

However I still hold faith in Yoshi's leadership, and I am very happy to have him here over Tanaka (sorry Tanaka buddy, FFXI rocked so at least you're back to that). After all, I am enjoying this MMO more than I have any other in years, and believe me I've played a crap ton of them. I think that says something. :)

And please don't give me the "the game was rushed" excuse. The has been in development for 5 years. There has been other MMOs with less development time and they were complete games and much better then XIV at launch.

Well if the game hadn't been released far too early, then Tanaka would probably still be at the helm, and we wouldn't have Yoshi around in the first place.

Of course Tanaaka's game design ethic was to essentially flail players, call them bitches, and then steal their money when they're down. For further evidence see pre-Aht Urghan FFXI and FFIII.

Yoshi is a godsend by far. Besides, Final Fantasy always thrives on new blood steering the ship. Having Yoshi come in was a good move.

All these arguments about the game being released early and Tanaka not having the chance to make it what he wanted are misplaced. Who's idea was FATIGUE? Who's IDEA was experience based on contribution to battle? Who's IDEA was Battle REgimens, though good idea, but horrible executed, Who's idea was to have the ENTIRE game revolve around Guild LEVES? Stop looking at Tanaka as though its FFXI.

This game was a pile of shit before Yoshi. After Yoshi, it's the only mmo i'm considering playing for a very long time.

The lack of Yoshi Love in this thread is appalling.

I agree, it's pretty unbelievable.

I second that, All the changes Yoshi is bringing in are making this feel like a proper FF game, hell it feels more FF than FFXI does right now.

Tanaka's name is most often spoken like one would utter the word "Kahn."

Yoshi-p's word is spoken most often with the giddy love of a pop icon fan.

Tanaka may have been a visionary, but that is all they amounted to. Worse, Tanaka has the older mentality of game design that favors the designer's vison over player input. Yoshi's has learned to take great consideration of, and participation with their community.

Having both of their talents is a boon to SE. However, if this was a question of who should be in charge of a project containing both of these individuals, Yoshi is the one who would make the correct decisions to lead the project (and company) into a brighter future.

More people in Square Enix should learn to follow his example.
