Everyone is entitled to their own opinion I suppose. All I'm saying is that someone who has played a job for longer and has better gear is always gonna be more useful than someone who has barely played a job and has crap gear. That's not ignorance in the slightest. There is always bad players of course, but we are talking about the big picture here. I foresee this as a good change for alliance raids overall.Quote:

Normal Raid may also be an option but it is in my honest opinion a bit easier than the Alliance Raid. I've always thought the disparity in competition for loot was a little unfair. Queue as a healer and you know you're going to most likely have someone fighting you for the gear you want. And it sucked feeling tempted to drop when you'd get matched multiple dps who'd be able to need on the gear you wanted (remember the all bard parties in world of darkness because everyone wanted that crit/det body? lol). Tanks on the otherhand had guaranteed win-on-need (except in LotA before even that got changed).
I dont like the solution of having to fight potentially 7 other people for the drops you want though. And you know its going to be a ... poop-show... towards the end of the week when you get people who roll on whatever just to get loot and be done (15 runs for the tank body, lost it to the drg with no tank leveled because he just wanted something).
The worst thing thats going to happen is people will start asking for "loot-pacts" much more frequently. Never ceases to amaze me how entitled a LOT of people are. Not to mention, a lot of players dont seem to get that theres no nice way to ask "hey are you going to roll on this piece of gear"? It sounds like a damn threat. Like, "yeah I am? now what? I get to listen to you tell me how you deserve it more than me the entire run? You'll drop and its my fault we're sitting around waiting for a rep? You'll get your two buddies to vote kick me?" I have no intention of indulging anyones demands to "state the loot you want". But yeah, the whole idea is just an absolute recipe for salt and drama. -

While I'm not pleased with the Greed-only change, even if you buy into their logic as to why it was done, it really only applies to the most recent raid. Folks outgear older raids to the point where they are easy as pie; if a wipe happens, it won't be because players were playing on a sub-optimal job or wearing sub-optimal gear, but because they blew a critical mechanic (like failing to put up the shield in the Phelgeston fight), in which case it would have made no difference if they were on their main job or not.
The greed-only thing should NEVER have been applied to older raids, and it should be removed from current raids once they are no longer current. Obtaining desired pieces of gear for glamour (really, the only reason to bother with older raids) is now nigh-impossible, since you'll be casting lots against people who want to exchange the gear for Grand Company points. With the current raid and its one-piece-per-week limit, there's a good reason not to lot willy-nilly on every piece of gear. With older raids, there's no such incentive. -

Need before Greed. This change isn't a good one. Having to roll against people who are greeding everything without even looking at it - because that's the reality - for job-specific gear in the job I'm running at the moment is ridiculous and some of the salt that will be flung around will no doubt be mine when I lose out on a piece of gear I need to someone who randomly spammed greed.

I don't think this is a good change. If anything I think it will discourage people from going as tank or healer and lead to longer queue times. Also, I would often greed things even for my main job if it wasn't actually better than my current gear since I wouldn't want to need something just to turn it in for a few hundred gc seals that someone would actually wear or glamour. This doesn't allow for that distinction.

As far as class exclusive weapons or gear goes I may roll on that too if it looks good as I could use it in future.
This way I think, yeah it’s perhaps less likely I get the thing I want, but I’ll probably get something for one of my classes at least.
It’s the system, you need to blame that, not the players who roll on things they are allowed to roll on.
