We actually have some of the fastest ramp if you start with Rouse+Spur and Enkindle when you Fester.

I decided to avoid cooldowns because every class has cooldowns, and its somewhat of an unfair comparison. I guess I assumed midfight ramp up on a brand new target.
I was thinking of re-rolling Lalafell, but two things kept me away.
1) The extra MP regen will only be better on fights like Twintania(long fights)
2) They are objectionably worse at fights unless everyone is a lalafell. When I was first progressing on divebombs, I couldn't see the marker if it was a lalafell. I don't play with sound.
That, and I just love my Elezen. She's a sexy beast.
I can't open with anything unless a tank has at least Garuda weapon, so it's not really my choice anymore.
Even with quelling I'll pull off of ifrit and lower tanks. I don't feel like waiting 10-15s on every pug boss fight.
Well, yeah, you're right even with no CDs. Due to how powerful Fester is, our Pet still attacking while we're applying DoTs, and our DoTs ticking while applying the other DoTs--We're not as far behind as most think we are.
The only times I have felt weaker as a Summoner are when I am farming fates on my own and when I am a dps who has to take out boss adds QUICKLY.
Lets start with fates, if I am not in a group that fate mobs are hit or miss for me. If I get to the fate before the bulk of the fate farmers arrive I will do well. If I arrive mid way I am screwed. However, if there is only one fate boss or a main fate boss then all is well.
Next, dps as a summoner can be tricky. I don't have a problem with main bosses or regular pulls, but it is those tricky timed adds with the bosses that hurt me. I have to lay a foundation to kill adds. I have to set up my DoTs, use Bane, and spam tri-disaster (which is slow). Then I have to WAIT for the damage to happen. Doesn't play out too well with the boss adds in Aurum Vale. I can use sic, but the pets take too much time moving from the boss to the adds. Then I have to deal with players who get upset because I can't put out like a black mage or bard.
I'm loving Ifirt's Boost, So I finally go to run Coil with my FC and they pretty much carried me, and show me the ropes, I was feeling in for the BLM and T4, they said they needed my AoE, Ifirt got the job done in turn 4 and did not die.
Pretty big SMN nerfs in the patch notes.
Thunder Can now only be used by thaumaturge and black mage.
Sustain Will now consume MP sintead of HP
We won't even have 5 useful cross class abilities now.
Swiftcast, Raging Strikes, Surecast, Quelling Strikes..And, what? Hawk's Eye? Yes, we need DEX!

couldn't help but notice they didn't fix the stupid accuracy requirement for pets either.
Summoner is the most nerfed job this patch and they don't fix any of the problems to offset this.
