Solid point.
Imagine a healer not being able to fulfill their primary job because it's arbitrarily decided that cards or fairies can't heal fire damage.

Which is also hilarious because most of the time the argument one could hear about DRK is that:
"Dark mind is really powerfull and has a really short CD, with the amount of magic damages in raids it still puts DRK above the other in terms of mitigation"
In theory, maybe.
but in cases like that, well.....
It bothers me a lot less with Dark Mind than Dark Missionary. Dark Mind has tangible upsides, and you have other mitigations to fall back on.
Dark Missionary however is your only unique option for raidwide mitigation.
Had to touch on this because the tanks aren't really homogenized. Three of the four tanks have both mitigation and self/party member sustain options - fairly strong ones in fact. Drk is suffering as primarily a Mitigation tank. Even then, it's mitigation ends up being sub par in comparison to other tanks being able to both mitigate and heal damage either at the same capability or better than drks mitigation (even considering that TNB is HP% based meaning it grows as the HP pool increases). Pre-DT Drk made up for that fault in DPS output, but now it has had its DPS nerfed to possibly the lowest ranking of the four tanks, and it has horrible self sustain options. It stands out in a bad way compared to other tanks, especially since 7.0 changes.
Honestly, Drk needs a rework from the ground up and the Devs need to be willing to give the self sustain back to drk that it had pre-Shadowbringers as there really isn't a good excuse given all the self sustain other tanks have these days.
At this point there seems to be a large number of folks that are dissatisfied with DRK’s damage, maybe less now post patch, because selfsustain is so low? This seems to mainly be a problem with dungeons, which has typically been a lesser problem since the majority of this game focused on raiding. With criterion dungeons I don’t think SE can avoid addressing this. TBN is not a good cd compared to the other short CDs. It’s not enough to carry DRK. In the short term they should decouple AD and CS. Give a AD a ~30sec cd or less and add a HoT or excog to oblation. There’s no reason dark missionary only applies to magic damage only when there is no other not you have to fall back on like is the case with dark mind - adjust it for all damage.
There’s so much love for dark mind, while I understand it, I think it’s holding back DRK. SE seems to be using it, among other mits, as a justification for not doing more. When pld was moved away from damage specific mitigations, DRK should have been as well.
If SE did this I’d consider leveling it. It was my main in hw, sb, shb, and to a lesser extent in ew(bcs rl). I want to level it, in fact main it, but I’m not going to bother at this point when gnb and war are in way better spots.
I think its just because functionally DRK has now severely limited short mit alongside two mits that have no use in the tier, and while it has decent damage that is trending to the top of the list, its not really a lead that warrants how many drawbacks bringing a DRK to a fight like M3S entails.
Honestly DM and HoL should both do physical mitigation too or at least have something in their raid defensives that defends against physical damage whether thats a barrier or percentage resistance.
I really don't see the point of it only being magical damage defensive if they wanted to do this why would they do something like 10% magical 5% physical like addle, not great but at least its not useless in some fights.
At the very least, attach a barrier to Heart of Light, and Dark Missionary.
Just finished Xeno's video on how he would fix it.
Since this can never be stressed enough...
Do not remove the mp cost of tbn and increase the cd to 25s
Do not remove the mp cost of tbn and increase the cd to 25
Do not remove the mp cost of tbn and increase the cd to 25
DO NOT HOMOGENIZE IT TO BE THE EXACT SAME AS THE OTHER SHORT CD'S.
If you have absolutely NO intention of making the offensive kit with active MP management/resource intensive. Leave TBN alone.
We don't need mindless sustain just tacked onto abilities in our kit. We have not one, but 3 resources available for you to use to make it more interesting. MP, Blood Gauge, Darkside if it even remains a timer.
If you are going to rework Dark Knight, actually put some thought and care into it.
