And yet, plenty of us said to bring the UK prices down, so that no one is getting ****ed. Y'know, instead of volunteering to get ****ed along with the UK players.

I take it they are still ignoring this issue then...
Just ignore Mei's posts, the guy's a troll.
Disgusting behavior by SE. Not surprised that nobody has said anything. There sadly only is one way to show your disappointment, DO NOT buy the CE edition. Don't do it. And keep this thread up top so they can see how disappointed and disgusted we are of the blatant disgracefulness shown to our fellow UK players. I'm not one, but I will show my support by not getting CE and voice my opinion.
See this guy has the right idea. Not to sound rude but the people SE are aiming for are those who will just buy without really thinking about it. They know they will get people who are just like "Oh collector's edition, insta buy" There are numerous people like that. I just hope physical CE doesn't sell so SE can learn their lesson.
While I am very much aggro'd by this turn of events (see what I did there?) I have to ask myself what led SE to make this decision. The vast majority will say greed and while that it is true to a point, it is a business first and foremost and requires money to pay salaries and to keep running etc., something less sinister has to be the root on their end. I don't claim to be an economics expert nor do I keep up with each developed country's rate of exchange, but something seems... off. I wonder if, in the making of this expansion, some rules were changed that we don't know of yet. We all would like to blame someone at random, and trust me I am just as upset as the next though I don't hang my hat in Britain, but what will that accomplish?
To explain what I mean I work in manufacturing and I am in charge of shipping/recieving as unglorified as that is on top of my other duties. I does however allow me to get a glimpse at some of the world of commerce. We ship things to customers and as we have to pay for the shipping the extra cost is tagged into their full cost of product. While this is most likely not the issue with physical CE in Britain it makes me wonder if something similar is being passed onto the customers due to some possible changes in trade rules/rates or even if the cost of certain other regulations may have caused this. As I said I am no economist but it seems odd to me that a gaming company after pulling themselves out of a hole with the re release of this in 2.0. I can't imagine them being foolish enough to try and alienate a third of the player base in europe without some sort of reason outside of "greed". Just food for thought.
What I'd really like is for someone to ask Yoshida or a developer straight up, what on earth is the justification for this price gouging. It wasn't long ago that we were told that FFXIV ARR had 4m subscribers, so its not as if this hasn't been a resounding success, I couldn't imagine that SE is financially hurting as a result of the assets spent on this game (from what I've read, the opposite is true).
Trying to bleed your customers is never a sound business plan, and will never be received well; look what happened when people got wind of the disk locked content in Streetfighter vs Tekken. People still haven't forgiven Capcom for that.
Silence is not the answer. If it is not addressed the outrage from the UK community will not die down, it will only strengthen. A customer base that no longer respects the company that they pay a subscription to is not one that will stock around - people will stop their subscriptions and take their business elsewhere, as I have considered doing. Since SE are providing this MMO on a subscription based service this is clearly not going to be an outcome they would wish for, but how on earth could they expect anything different?
I was not able to attend the fanfest last year, but I will definitely be at the next one, and I will ask Yoshida about this if it hasn't been answered by then. That is, assuming I am still playing this game; considering this debacle, I'm not so sure I will be.
