I think you are missing the point. That Ishgard is more open to potential random demonlooking thing vs random dragon looking thing says alot.

Truth be told, The Auri really don't look draconian other than a vague reptilian appearance. If they had wings maybe. But just Horns and a few scales, that's like saying Lalafell are Imp people just because they're short or that Roegadyn are Ogres because they're really big. Like Miqo'te having Cat Ears and a Tail, the Auri are no more related to Scale or Wyrmkin than Miqo'te are Beastkin.

The Horns on the Auri look more like Voidsent horns honestly.
My original post that you quoted had nothing to do with if Ishgardians would be happy with part demon people running amuck (NOT that we have proof Auri are part demon). Don't try to spin me into an argument I'm not in I'd prefer to create my own arguments thank you very much :p
The whole "Au Ra's motif is demon" comment is highly suspect what with all those pieces of concept art that clearly say "Race_dragon" on them. If they were referring to the Xaela I would understand but otherwise that comment is a lie.
They could've just changed their minds.
When it comes to concept art if SE had changed their minds then the Au Ra should look different from what we got. The Au Ra look nothing like any of the humanoid demons within the game asides from having horns.
I hope someone from the dev/lore/community team gives some kind of clarification on that comment because otherwise it just looks like SE is lying.
Aright time to settle this. The word likely used was "Yokai" which does not explicitly mean demon. It's more akin to the word Monster in the west. "Ryu" and "Long" are the Japanese and Chinese words for dragon respectively. So if they used the Word Yokai they meant Monster rather than Demon. And the Auri certainly don't look more than half human at most. (And some combinations can look very demonic. Draconic is kinda hard to make with the PC Character Models we have)
He used the word "akuma" from what I remember.
It still doesn't make much sense for Ishgard to not freak out really. Heck it even talks about from the benchmark about how it's a common misinterpretation that the Au Ra are dragon people, despite the biological differences in the two. So, unless if Ishgard is dissecting and studying Au Ra, which I'd be curious as Au Ra in general seem to come from Othard, I'd be curious on why they don't freak out immediately/continue to hold suspicions on the Au Ra.
