I'd say that Lalafell are analogus to Gnomes, but I do agree. I would like for there to be Dwarves (because eff you, proper English, Tolkien was right & it should be spelled d-w-a-r-v-e-s). I'm fine with the addition of the Viera, too

I totally support this. FFXII was my all-time favorite game in the series, and I absolutely loved Fran. The concept art for male Viera is awesome!! I love being a Roe, but if Viera were to come, I'd seriously consider using a fantasia.

From the concept art, males seem to look like taller miqos and females like a less clunky elezen. If they based it on those bodies maybe they wouldnt have to adjust the armor too much? not more than they had with Aura anyways ^^ Personally i love Elezen but can't stand how stiff and clunky they are when they move and emote so i would love something similar to it but more refined :D

Viera are beautiful. +1, I'm all in. I love the concept art, and I love Fran and her sister in XII. I would love to play in XIV as one!

Their whole attitude of movement, of walking, of carrying themselves. I know it's little things, but they still resonate. And I think there's room for updating/expanding their story into the current world, despite their isolationism.

Of course, we'd need more than footwear addressed. We'd need their own flavor of gauzy armor and weapon art. We'd need Viera-cultured housing items. We'd need Viera-inspired mounts, pets, retainers, music, glowy effect glams, dances (!).... etc. :D But I admit, I'm not afraid of any of that. Not even the footwear. I know that SE would do an awesome job with all of it.

Adventurer (and Warrior of Light) Viera would fit naturally in the XIV world, especially given recent events regarding Ivalice, the Empire, etc.
I know, other races too, but we're talking about Viera here.
So yeah, count me in.

Aye, you really get it. It's about more than just form, it has to do with the emotes, style, lore, and interactions that can be explored and enjoyed. We need more quest and events for all the races, including but not limited to racial gear quest, emotes, lore, hairstyles, ect... all of which can be earned by other races, there by allowing for all to have access to content but tieing it to the races to expand the world knowledge about the difference in their views and culture.

I would love to see more of the Hellsguard and their culture of sell swords as well as their sacred mountain home where they train in both martial and mystical in their duty watching over the gates of the underworld.

I personally believe the team could write them in as being sheltered by the twelves wood much as they were in Eruyt village in Golmore Jungle. As the elder primal Bahamut's destruction laid waste to vast areas of the shroud, it could be explained that the illusion magicks were dispelled and as such their home was revealed and therefore the previously accessible west shroud is still off limits to all but the Seedseers that have kept them a secret until now. With the wood no longer able to shield them, they must now journey into the world and rejoin it to not only learn of the lands and people they have been closed off to, but also to better protect their homeland by learning new powerful skills, abilities, and jobs not Known to them. Basically a mix of FFVI Esper village, FFXII Eruyt village, and a little of the Dragonlance series of books event Lorac's Nightmare:At the beginning of the War of the Lance, the Dragonarmies attacked the Elven land of Silvanesti. King Lorac Caladon of the Silvanesti tried to use a powerful Artifact known as a Dragon Orb. He became enthralled by the orb, caught in a nightmare whispered to him by the Green Dragon Cyan Bloodbane that twisted and deformed his homeland. Think the Emerald Dream later used by Blizzard in WoW.

Alacran, I think it would be better for Viera to not be native to Eorzea, but a land that we've never visited before. Like the 'far west' (aka The New World) or something. Due to how long it has been since Bahamut razed the land (5 years + however much time has passed in the story from the beginning of ARR to currently in SB), I feel we should have seen Viera (NPC's) in Eorzea by now.

Dwarf is more of a final fantasy staple than Viera. More interesting as a race too, seems like a no brainer.

Yes, because being the loudest voice in the room obviously means that you are the majority. This thread has been very divisive at times, with many posts of those 180 pages saying no to Viera.

That could be another option, but it need not be the only one. In a world of magic, where cities can fly, dragons fight invading armies, and curses can change an entire population into a sentient monstrous form, the limitations are endless. The idea of a parallel world hiding a group of people would be fascinating. It could also play up a culture of mysticism and illusion that is ingrained and uniquely theirs, something only mentioned in passing with Roegadyn Hellsguard.

Though i will conceded the point having them from a newer less explored area could open up said placement for all matter of lore, the sad fact is there is much still to see in Erozea. Abalathia's Spine was never truly fleshed out being that we went every way but through it and had not an iota of lore Hellsguard or otherwise. Matter can be changed but never completely destroyed. The west shroud still exist, as does portions of Coerthas, there was more to Xelphatol than just a single dungeon, ect...

I would love to see the Viera honestly would be awesome to see them show up close to end game. I would fantasia so fast on my old main it'd make heads spin.

bunnies are my favourite animal!!! i only played tera online bc i could bea cute bunny girl and the combat was good.

Let me be a bunyn girl ffxiv <3 i know it's not gonna happen, but still itd be nice!

Personally, I'd say no to this because
1) theyd essentially just have a slightly altered miqo'te model.

2) we have enough cutesy/ pretty races imo. I'd rather have something more beastial. So I'd rather them spend time on working on armor riggings for a new beasty playable race than have them give us another hyur with animal parts race and a new job.

Never going to happen.

If they are implement them in like... 5.0? That means that we will not get any improve in our character creator. Which makes me sad.

Also... We already have miqotes and elezens. I will not allow any cute Viera.
I want a tall and slim Viera like FFXII, if they can't give me that... it would be better don't do anything. I mean REALLY. We EVEN already have tiny lizzards girls. I'm done with the cute thing ALWAYS.

I want a race that can't be pretty, at least not in the conventional sense.

Keep up the good fight for Viera! We had to do the same for male Miqo’te and female Roegadyn. It’s funny how people was against those to but look how many of them are running around now. I support this thread 100% and would buy a Fantasia as soon as they got announced

To piggyback of this, adding more races/gender to the game only adds to the constant growing problems to the Character Creator. Say they add Vieras. They will cut corners to "fit" everything into the current creator. Will you guys accept having the same ear types? Will you accept having the same patterns? Will you accept having them look like humans with bunny ears? That's exactly what's going to happen. The no "High Heel" feet alone is enough to call them a disgraceful adaptation of the race. We deserve a revamp of the Character Creator. You're gonna tell me that adding more options to the current races/gender will "break" or "throttle" the game but adding more races/genders won't? And adding hairstyles on top of that? That's not adding up at all.

I support Veira. I like their FFtactics advance implementation personally. I think they were tall in that. Would be nice to have another tall race though less bulky.

I think they should add Viera and add in a new class at the same time....like fencer since rapiers are already in the game. Mid of expansion jobs have been done before (NINJA *glares*) and I think it'd be nice addition since the models are already there. I just hope it wouldn't be overwhelming to add both at the same time. If it is I'd definitely settle for just Viera alone.

I'm pretty sure the devs/Yoshi-P said they will no longer release jobs in patches due to how much work they require.
Also, just because the FFXII models already exist, doesn't mean SE will just copy and paste them for the playable races. They'd have to make sure every piece of gear (hats and feet especially) will look natural on them, as well as apply the specific Job animations on the race and etc.

Just wanted to pop back in here and say that I still support (tall) Viera as the next new race.

a bunch of the jobs in tactics advance have them wearing normal shoes so the high heal thing is a non factor really. Just seems to be a preference for them socially, and given we have stuff like wolfliege that downright mutilates player feet and several shoes with some level of heal on them having that heal spike as the racial gear seems doable.

they're faces aren't really super beastial either so shouldn't be that hard to implement over a human model
and we already have mi'qote ears so half the work on viera hats would already be done

and the longer features don't seem like they should be a big deal either, it's a lot like elezen modeling really just a bit more extreme in places like their fingers

and fur is just a texture so having that should actually be even less work than the horrible skin disease au'ra have

It's really not a stretch, if you look at the official art of fran and took off the ears/tail she's basically just a tall, skinny, dark-skinned human. and we already have races with animal ears and tails so...

I have to admit I was really disappointed that Stormblood didn't bring a new race to the game. I hope we will at least get one in 5.0.

Same, in comparison to Heavensward where we got a new race and 3 new jobs that weren't all DPS. I hate that they gave us TWO dps this expansion -_- its so dumb

1) You believe there is a double standard
2) When you see what the Au Ra females could've been compared to what we got was basically the same as the Miqo'te (both male and females). Hyur derplander cosplaying.
3) We can ask for viera and it'll be a major let-down cuz "<resource>limitations".

I say #4 is pretty accurate.

Many people judge about using a hyur in this game, being human in real life. But in the world of FFXIV, there's nothing more common than a Miqo'te. Just saying.

I think AuRas females at least have they scams, so it's acceptable I just hate how... Little they're. The first thing that we saw about them, a fierce tall dragon woman... That is what we want.
I was elezen for so many time, I love their lore and such. But I cannot stand the porportions that they have. :/

SE put no love on female Elezens giving them those long shoulders, and I will not say a word about the female Roe.

While I certainly can't speak for all the nyan-cats (because you will have certainly never seen me complain about anything you seem to be suggesting!), I don't see how making an argument in favor of having more makes anyone an hypocrite.

Hey now... I recommend you wander around the 'Show your Roe' thread. Plenty of good looking Roegadames there.
If you meant their emotes and some combat poses, though... yeah. I can see why (some are a bit cutesy).

I don't feel that we particularly need anymore races honestly or that we need a new race with every new expansion pack. This is nothing against Viera or any other race, but we already have six playable races to choose from and if six aren't good enough for the community, then nothing will be at this point. There is such a thing as having too many races to choose from and it may just make things such as lore, settings, etc extremely convoluted and that's not to mention that they should really fix and add better options for the existing races to make them all stand out more.

GW2 has only five playable races and people have been content with that for years and before GW2, there was vanilla GW and that only had one race which was human. I think people in this generation of gaming, especially towards MMO's, have either become too greedy or are never satisfied with anything.

nb4 Lupin are male only, Viera female only.

180 pages and 1800 posts later and we still dont have a Viera race in ffxiv... are they listening?
