In Alphascape (doesn't matter which one as it's happened multiple times in different fights)

All four DPS dead, 2 healers and 2 tanks alive, lvl 3 Limit Break ready, healer gets stack marker, runs it into the remaining party... aaaand wipe.

I have been both that healer, and the healer who goes, Nope. *Runs away* casts LB3.

Last night I got Deepcroft normal while doing roulettes, got the notice for a new player. Great, thought it was the GLA, did a check. Nope, he had several 50s and 60s. Checked the MNK, nope there either, bunch of 60s and some crafter/gatherer classes leveled up. Checked the SMN, nope there either, had 6 60s on their search info. I wondered who it was the entire dungeon run until we got to the boss room and I see the notice in the chatlog: 'SMN has achieved: mapping the realm Tam-Tara Deepcroft'.

For the rest of the night, I wondered just how deep that smn's pockets were.

Could have been they missed a side room or some small part of the map. I didn't get the full mapping achievement for Sastasha until about a year after I started playing because of all the little siderooms people don't go into anymore.

There was a new player notice at the beginning, so that wasn't the case.

I've been running healer more often than bard lately for roulettes/trials etc and I ended up getting Hell's Lid on my AST for a 70 roulette. Everything seemed normal, Diurnal on, Protect, start down that slope to the first set of 3 crab adds - and the tank left party. Didn't say anything at all. NIN, MCH and I hung around a couple of mins before going "whatever" and set off 3manning the dungeon. MCH was in full 380 crafted so ended up tanking and just. I had so much fun in that dungeon doing it a 3 man. Obviously it was slower since I wasn't able to DPS so much what with keeping the MCH alive but I still got out a fair amount of DPS.

We'd just finished the 2nd boss when a tank from my FC queue'd into help and we promptly blasted through the last pulls and boss. Honestly I really wanna do that again =D

Hmm. Eh, not really a concern of mine what people spend their money on. If they wanna jump stuff, well that's them. Could have also been an alt - MSQ skips still give bonuses for dungeons despite them being marked as complete in the player's journal.

What's worse is that we didn't even go into any of the side rooms at all the entire run. The tank would get close enough to pull mobs out and back into the hallway for us to mow down, but the smn would stay close to me, since I hung out near the rear as healer. If anything, they never left my hip.

Sadly, that's the norm nowadays - people don't really explore the side rooms. That's why it took me so long to get the mapping achievement for Sastasha lol.

Some dungeons you actually can go back and poke your head into those rooms provided you don't get too close to the mobs if they've been ignored during the run. I found this out the fun way one day after the pug I was in cleared the dungeon and they had all exited except me.

On another note, just got out of a party where the tank let the rest of the party I was in do the tanking for him in roulette, then admits to 'cheating his way' to Ishgard just to unlock drk. Thankfully it was Halatali, but had it been Quarn normal or higher, I would have 'noped' out of there fast. Only job the guy had leveled was a 52 war. What he meant by 'cheating his way' I honestly have no idea, as I was trying to keep my party healed and the nin and brd were eager to finish the dungeon.

I was farming O11N on BLM to get a crank for my gloves and ended up queuing into a group that (I didn't know at the time) was either a 5/8 or 6/8 group. Double heals, single/double tank, double DPS. I lodestone'd the group later and found 5/8 of them from the same FC and the other tank might've been with them since I in-prog'd with them later (more on this later).

So, there is a new player bonus message, that's no problem with me. We have a wipe on Level Checker due to someone not being in the circles so we get a damage down debuff. Even with LB3 from me it wasn't enough to push the damage out.

We then have a wipe on the second attempt due to tether target remaining in centre of arena and everyone gets wiped on the subsequent Atomic Ray.

We then have a third wipe on... the very first Star/Lar mechanic (it kills both healers and every other DPS but me).

Vote Abandon is tossed out and passed.

I re-queue on BLM and eventually get a 9m in-prog pop. Sure, what could possibly go wrong? Every in-prog I've done to Alphascape normal thus far has been successful.

I zone into O11N with 6/8 of the same members from the previous run.

Well, I'll give them another shot.

I don't recall when but I think both healers got wiped out on a Lar/Star mechanic in the final half of the fight and since we had no SMN/RDM it was a wipe.

Another Vote Abandon, which passed.

Sooooo... I decide if I'm going to farm and that group is going around making a small mess of things, I'll just go on WHM and avoid them entirely.

Well, at least as a WHM I can pick up a lot of pieces. And boy did I pick up a lot of pieces. At one point during that run we were down to 2 tanks and 1 Healer (me). I'm just happy I got enough people back online before the next Electric Slide mechanic >>;

Twas... quite the evening to farm O11N. Got my crank two runs later after this one. Thankfully, those two runs were much less chaotic.

If you and your friends make up 3/4 of the party, what's the point of using Vote Abandon?

Two crappy SCHs today—

One in V12N where 4 people died, no healer LB3 yet (LB3 bar was halfway full), and they refused to raise a single one of them. I had no MP to raise more than 2, and the BRD that subsequently died to AOE damage said they had Refresh ready. Asking them to raise, and they just... stood there. With 75% MP. Doing...nothing. By the time we got healer LB3, 3 people were dead, including the BRD and SAM that had been dead for about a minute, so I just healer LB3’d to get them up. Because I didn’t have any MP to actually raise them.

And then V10N where the SCH never had a fairy out. At all. Ever. And then them and their little BRD friend who did less damage than both tanks with zero deaths tried to say the SCH did all the healing during the run. Yes, that 1,700 HPS with that 500 DPS you had was very impressive. Totally did ALL the healing. :rolleyes: The SCH died at about 15% and I just left them dead. Waste of my MP to raise a co-healer who would rather AFK instead of heal.


But I had an amazing AST co-healer in Alliance Raid Roulette (Dun Scaith). We kept drawing Expanded Balance after Expanded Balance, so Diabolos had about 100% Balance uptime with Diabolos Hollow at about 50% Balance uptime. XD But then someone ran the black ball that chases you into the party and killed half the raid, so we had to damage control instead of fishing for cards. They were super cool, though.

Had really interesting alliance run thx to ddos attack.

was playing asta on the last boss of The Ridorana Lighthouse (Yiazmat) when on of the attack's happened and the fight got really challenging after that. Yiazmat had around 15 to 30% health left. and only one´s that was left after the dc was the one tank in my group 2 dbs and myself, in group B was one healer a and one or 2 dbs and in c was similar to group b everyone else were offline. the fight go even harder when Yiazmat whent into Growing Threat stage and my mana was low because of the raiseing that had to be done after the dc, Me and the tank were the only ones still alive after the dc and ofc lot af people where still offline but with like 8 people we still killed Yiazmat its was hard but also kinda fun :D :D

I started farming Omega normal for some music, and am nearly done with Sigma (just Movements I and III to go).

I had a run of o8 where the other healer, also a Whm, just used so much Medica II for every healing need. They also died a lot, including right after I used a Swiftcast to get one of the DPS up that wasn't doing too well either. So I used Presence + Thin Air and got the Whm up, went back to combining heals and DPSing as needed be. Then we won the fight...

Bad Whm: "Next time help use medica2!"
Me: "II is overkill"
Bad Whm: "USELESS!"
Me: "I was plenty"

They left before I could finish, saying Assize and Indulgence help too, more than the ticks from Medica II. I also would have called them out on dying and barely DPSing at all, something easily seen without a parser (I'm on PS4), but again they were no longer present. I did, however, get two of the comms. *shrugs*

Meanwhile, I was having a long night full of PUGs who just couldn't even. That run of o8n was the first after a friend joined me. Once we were out, he said "Damn, no wonder your brain is fried," as I had explained before he joined. Oh if he only knew. @_@

Is there a thing with tanks and Hell's Lid or something? I remember my first run of Hell's Lid started with the tank leaving the party before I even got out of the opening cutscene. It was...an experience.

Just had the best PvP match. I got the 24 man one, which I love. There was me on SCH, a PLD, and six DPS. And this PLD, let me tell you. He was nigh unkillable without my help. And us SCH's are slippery and ourselves and need teamwork to be taken down. And even then I pop Sprint if things get too hairy. There was this one fight where the red team tried this teamwork thing. I pushed back by a WHM and then Holmganged by a WAR. But our PLD was having none of that and popped his Limit and then I popped my Limit and we got out of there. But this one BRD was persistent. I hit him with Chain Strategem and like all six of our DPS jumped them. We were up by like 200 points by the end.

And PLD if you read this, you were great. You left before I could comm you.

was doing o11n for the weekly and decided to go in as BRD since it's getting the gear anyways. Was surprised when someone took the tether that does the AoE paralyze away cause normally it's a frantic mess with that thing. So being BRD figured I'd do the nice MNK a favor and Paean them. Then in chat they go "bard commd" cause apparently they don't see people playing their classes well

Got Nidhogg for Trials roulette. Co-healer and one of the DPS didn't stack despite being in full health. Even after being Rescued into the stack, they ran out. Thanks. Oh and the MT-PLD didn't have an Oath. At all. Even after being reminded in chat.

Doing omega for loots. I was forced into solo healing O9 on two separate occasions. One healer died immediately and all raises timed out, the second disconnected as the tank pulled and didn’t show up again. I don’t mind though, I like a challenge. Both groups made it super easy by not flubbing up mechanics. Didn’t get a bolt either time but walked away with a handful of commendations. 10/10 would heal again.

I was playing on my alt character as tank. My first time tanking aurum vale, so I was a little nervous. Anyway, we get to the final morbol boss, and it starts spawning the seedlings. I tried defeating them, but the dps were not attacking them. They spawn and swarm me, giving 9+ burrs in seconds, killing me. Wipe. No biggie, we can try again. We get there again, but only one dps is going for the seedlings. Loads spawn and chaos ensues again. Healer calls *beep* and bails on us. Then the dps start getting angry. I'm doing my best people, but I can't tank the boss AND 5 mobs that give me a burr per hit. I need help killing them, but they hardly even went for them. Anyway, I still apologise for what's happening. Vote abandon was issued, but a new healer appeared just in time. We fight the boss again... and still more seedlings. DX We somehow managed to win, and the dps scarper without so much as a 'howdy-do' or 'thank you'. Sheesh, why are some people so rude? :(

I play that fight as 2 flavors of tank (almost always ending up as off-tank), and do my best taking that tether far away. I've thus far (after initially figuring out what it was) only failed to do so once for reasons that aren't "someone else ran into the tether partway through and brought it back to the group".
I've done that fight a few dozen times by now, and I've never -EVER- had a duty finder Bard give me Paean for that mechanic. And this is with 3/4 of my parties having at least one Bard.
I too would probably commend a Bard right away just for doing that if it happened. :x

Had a Syrcus Tower party today where half of my party died to Curtain Call, both Healers included. Amon was at 2%, though.

Something else that is sadly consistent about O11N seems to be none of the ranged being willing to take the north "meteor" during level checker. I wonder why... I get that it's where the boss usually is, and thus the least natural place for a non-tank to be standing, but after so many goes of getting a damage down from that one exploding, I'd think at least a few people would pick up on it always being left empty, and fill in. I go there as a filler if there's 5+ melees, becoming a bootleg caster with my Holy Spirits, but there should be no need for that with 4 ranged people in a party. :/

I once had a very painful party in the vale as a healer. No one would follow directions, and I realized you could get as high as 12 burr stacks before taking somewhere in the +7k hp range damage. Needless to say we wiped 3 times on the final boss before everyone just fled out the entrance.

I've had people on the second boss just stand in aoe range for his 100-tonze swing and die, and immediately go 'wtf?' Even though I did warn them before the fight started to gtfo of range for said attack. Perhaps I should start emphasizing 'That will break your nuts, painfully, if you are hit by it.'

Then there was one recently where my friend and I were on discord chat and we were both in the vale, him as healer and me as tank. We had a sam on the second boss who really, REALLY liked pain for some reason. She would die to 100-tonze swing, he would raise her, and she would get right back up and run back into swing again. This happened 3 times and I was lol'ing so hard that I almost couldn't tank.

My friend wondered if the sam might've been into S&M, as they died on the final boss as well by somehow not paying attention to the pools they were standing in.

Reminds me of back in the day. Same boss.
Someone in the FC I was in was doing that dungeon and he was complaining on voip about a dragoon in the party, then they came to that last boss and after some tries the tank gave up and left. To be nice I jumped in and soon enough noticed the major problem, said dragoon was running around like a maniac eating all the fruits so when others needed them there was none. This time the dragoon planted himself in poison and died, I quickly told the healer to not rez him, with that dragoon tanking the floor we downed the boss. To this day I still believe that this dragoon was trolling.

I got kicked from a Sukazku farm party today :D

Everyone except me and the two tanks got knocked off, and since it was very close to enrage, I figured I'd rez the drg first, since sometimes you can get a 2nd LB off, before you hit enrage.
This made the second healer who had died (who was also the party leader) angry, they wanted me to rez them or the RDM first. After reading their comments, I thought fair enough, so I rezzed the RDM second. Luckily Suzaku bugged out so we didn't get enrage, just a 2nd set of the 4 colour sequence plates.

We cleared it, and without a word, I was removed from the party right afterwards, and the party leader put the party up for a farm again.
Bascially, I got booted because I rezzed the wrong person, when 5 others died to the same mechanic.¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I found a second farm party right afterwards who were much nicer and cleaner, so it all worked out in the end :)

It's not really a Duty Finder story, but I was running dungeons with my squadron just in case it becomes important later (like how you had to have ran 5 different dungeons to rank up to captain). I hadn't tackled the last five dungeons that were added, so I started on that. Didn't really have any problems until I popped into Wanderer's Palace Hard.

And then I had many regrets. That dungeon is pretty bad with squadron AI. It's so bad. On every boss and every pull. It's the only squadron dungeon I've had trouble with. I hope they don't add more dungeons like that to the list.

I found something...interesting while finishing leveling my Black Mage to 70.

Lots and lots of Heaven-on-High runs?

Queued from msq roulette and had an amazing co-tank that just made the run go super smooth! No battling for aggro/rubber banding, grabbing adds, and waiting for/explaining stuff for the new players(had a mentor crown too!). Msq roulette isn't by any means hard but it was just nice to see someone do what they could to make it less tedious for the rest of us. If you're reading this, thank you!

Actually we have that guy in our FC that has the habit to max out everything, he basically was done before he even had the story completed, while i admire his determination it was rly painfull to watch....

Some ppl are like that. Well and some buy like 5 jump potions xD

Had a group that used a real strange strat.

They got kinda upset that i couldn't instantly adapt to a strategy i had never even heard of before on the very first pull.

To make the matter worse, one part of the strategy was entirely reliant on RNG to keep the tanks from dying.

Voke-Shirk whenever possible, because the MT has huge problems keeping aggro on the boss without extra help. Because aggro management is not the Warriors job, it's everybody elses.
Tank Swap after first tankbuster.
Tank Swap again as neccessary.

Die horribly to the debuffs because RNG says current tank gets doom from flying enemies and Shirk is still on cooldown, and the other tank somehow generates less aggro than me, despite being a Warrior while i'm a Paladin, causing me to get aggro back after the provoke and take an auto.

Followed by my death triggering a doom spiral that wipes the whole group.

Attempting to point out that a strategy that relies on RNG to not kill one of the tanks is not a very good strat naturally does not end well.

I'm a bit disturbed both by how this fact needed to be pointed out and the way they reacted to it.

"iLvl: 400. Need a fast clear. Heal yourself, skip dogs, <and something I don't remember> or kick."

Sounds like you ran into a premade party that's expects any pug to overly exert themselves to cover for the deficiencies one of theirs have. I'm open to alternate strategies but not ones created to support bad play

Feels like you're in the wrong thread

Had to solo heal most of Ridorana on WHM. My cohealer AST was in Diurnal for everything, which IMO is redundant to have 2 regen healers when you could have shield+regen but the important was:
-She died about two or three times per boss (so consequentially did not have much MP to start with)
-would use A. Helios when the party was on like... 95% HP. You know, an amount of HP that they could easily just.. not bother with since at those times there wasn't often an incoming aoe for a while. So she was OOM a lot, despite having a bard and MCH in party with refresh, plus a BLM w/ Mana Shift.

I didn't have to use Medica or Medica II all that much, just an assize and Cure III for the post-comp mode aoe, but the lack of mana on that was spent on raising my cohealer. Eventually just felt like leaving her on the floor tbh.
