The wife and I needed to do Bismarck Hard for MSQ. She's running DRK and I'm AST, and we took the time to watch the video breakdown of the fight. We grab a couple of FC mates to join us, so we have both tanks, me as heals, and a dps. Wife states she's new, and we get into it right after buffs are up.
First round seems to go on for a while. My wife does a lot of her learning "trial by fire" style for timing of specific abilities, just prefers the videos so she knows what mechanics to expect. There's always that first time hesitancy before you get used to the mechanics anyway. So, yeah, we wipe the first time.
Seems like the WHM and a couple of the dps were together. Someone asked if everyone knew what was going on, and the WHM just spammed laughing emotes. For a whole minute. I'm not certain, but I think he even "not readied" on the ready check. It got old real quick, and I wasn't the only one that thought so given the vote kick that went up and through. Yeah, dude, I get it. A real big bad player like yourself who's got multiple 60's probably thinks it's sad that first timers wipe on a new fight. So go ahead and mock them, that'll learn 'em!
One of the dps leaves, and another, a bard, starts complaining about how we kicked his buddy. We get a replacement WHM and a BLM. WHM asks what happened and the bard takes the moment to call the group childish. I retorted that two of us were new, and some of us are unable to handle a wipe. Bard shut up after that. I honestly expected him to wait until we engaged to drop group, but was pleasantly surprised when he did not. He even stayed when we wiped the second time.
Turns out we weren't hitting hard enough, and the WHM urged us to dps harder. Only my wife and I were unsynched 58's, so I know everyone outgeared and outleveled us. We killed Bismarck on the third pull, and I gave my comm to the helpful WHM replacement who coached rather than mocked.
Ramex... whm kept standing in front of boss and died constantly after the fourth rez on third attempt i told him that if he died again in front of boss after being told to stay behind he would stay flat ln the floor and i would no rez him again... strange how he stopped dying from there on
Reset day is Wiping City day! I sign in on AST as I want to have the healer jacket.
I use a macro to explain the bosses to the raid in case there is a firsttimer (as you don't get a bonus message, so you can't tell) - most times people appreciate the explanation, but this time about ten people start raging at me, but whatever. During the first boss, I die close before the second add phase, the moment I get raised, the tank and all the DPS have run down while the WHM and I are still above. Chaos occurs, both WHM and I kinda get lost so we don't find the hole to get below, resulting in our party dying, but we clear, and I apologize to the party for getting lost.
Then the summoner rages at me, I shall stop giving the raid any orders if I can't do my job. I'm the worst healer ever because I don't do anything, I shall admit my fault, etc. When I use the macro for the second boss, people tell me to "stop spamming or we'll report you", while the summoner still insults me, in fact he even gets himself locked out from the boss on purpose to have enough time to talk more bullshit.
I tell him that I did admit my fault, but as he won't stop raging at me and about half of the rest of the raid seems to hate me as well, I decide that a run with these people won't result in anything but myself being frustrated, so I take my leave and spend the penalty time crafting.
For the second try, I get into an alliance without any capable tanks - both first and second boss are tanked by a ninja in my party who survived only because both my co healer and I notice that soon enough. After the first boss, we kick our tank who gets replaced by someone who doesn't have a clue about mechanics (died to every single Mega Death), but at least she can hold aggro, so that's a win, I guess?
During Ozma, we wipe three times because people keep stacking meteors. After the third wipe, half the raid leaves but gets replaced fast enough, unfortunately it doesn't prevent us from wiping two more times as the people stacking the meteors all stayed. The run ends in a vote abandon.
Third try - a bard keeps pulling and this way locking several tanks and healers out, so we wipe a lot before the bard finally stops pulling. At the miniboss before Ozma, I stay in the middle as I'm in group B, and I'm used to group B being in the middle, A being left and C being right. Then the bard (he's in A) yells at me, I'm a bad mentor because I'm standing in the middle - for no known reason, A decided to stand in the middle while B "belongs" left. I have never seen this before, and if people silently making new rules makes me a bad mentor, so be it, I just shrug it off.
People stack meteors at Ozma again, so we wipe two more times, but this time we make it in the third try. Hooray, after three hours of wiping I finally get to see Calofisteri! The maintank is okayish in the first phase, but after the ultimate he kinda finds it funny to haircut almost the entire raid. Several times. It's a miracle we don't wipe here, but it's about a lot of dying, getting raised, raising, and getting haircut to death again.
Now I'm tired. And just glad I got the jacket I wanted to have. At least something good on this Wiping City day.
Well, I just met a very confusing DRK in ARF. Not a bad one, she actually seemed really competent, just confusing.
During the first two big pulls her HP was dropping like a dragoon in an AoE. Had cooldowns on and all, but I still struggled to keep her up. Later on in the dungeon, she was somehow holding aggro AND eating damage like a brick wall on steroids WITHOUT Grit or Darkside.
How does this even happen with the same tank?
Also, the moment when the tank and the healer combined have better DPS than the 2 actual DPS combined... :P
I met a Ninja that did nothing but Throwing Daggers, and claimed that he was RPing.
Two days ago. A few hours to complete roulettes. I queue for expert as WHM. We get in, it's Hullbreaker hard. Ok! No biggy. Healed this place a few times. tank starts pulling, and like out of nowhere, he dies. I was watching the whole time and I have no idea what I did wrong, had divine seal+regen on and yet he just dies, in like what? 2 hits? I was using cures etc and I was so confused. Tank respawns, we get to 1st boss and all of a sudden, he afks, so obvious he was typing in chat, I believe the 2 DPS were his friends. We finish the 1st boss fight with me nearly dying, as tank etc just didn't help me take out the coeurl. Anyway, we move up a bit and tank pulls everything up until the gorillas. And what happens? He gets 2 shot, like again, outta nowhere. I check his gear and it was fine, and I have no idea if it was broken or not. Then the dps get 1 shot, and then me. We all go back to start and access the shortcut, at this time I was waiting for the vote kick. I had given up with this party, bearing in mind I did Pharos hard just before and it was completely fine. I was super baffled at what occurred, it was just so odd. Vote kick went through, and of course bye-bye me. That was one of the worst dungeons I've found myself in. Squishiest PLD I've ever met.
That was the 3rd vote kick I'd ever gotten since I started this game :o
Thanks for kicking me Mr Roegadyn (EDIT: Not his real name) from Odin ;) I did Sohr Khai with a DRK friend, and that run was perfect.
