oh really... damn that locks me out D: no paypal options?

It is amazing how hard it is to GIVE money to SE for an item we all want. People are angry because we can't just throw money at you guys for this one item. How absurd is this.
I tried to purchase the starter edition (because it's in the list of items...), but the website crashed out. No order was created, but money was taken, I've had to put in a ticket with ShopTo to ask them to fix or refund that order.
But I've just found out that despite the Starter Edition being listed, it isn't actually a valid item. SE representative on Reddit says it was listed by mistake and they can't change the Lodestone until Monday :S

What about everyone that buys Starter Edition between now and Monday? Or has already bought that item?
There is a paypal option. Buuuut, it only becomes available after you give them your entire credit card info. Including the 3 digit code on the back. No site ever asks for that if it's not for the purpose of actually purchasing. At least no reputable site. It's extremely shady.
I can't even log in...it keeps crashing.... why couldn't they use a site like amazon
This campaign has been six hours, for most of which the ShopTo site was either non-responsive or down for maintenance, and now EVERY item (except FFXIV itself lol) is out of stock.
Could you please step up and send ShopTo a huge restock of items and get them to accept our orders again so that we can get these codes?
That, or choose another partner who has the stock levels to fulfil the campaign!
Hmmm, I'm really digging but I've gone through several items and they are all sold out, even the xbox steelbook version of the hitman game which I wouldn't want.
Why would the promotion begin without them having any of the promotional items in stock?
So anyway I linked my paypal account, but that didn't work, so I caved and added a credit card too and put in a back order for the FF XIV time card.
I guess because the item isn't in stock, it got added to the preorder section of my account instead of the order section, which is where the in-game item code would be.
So I don't get a code, and it says they won't have stock till mid-November, after this campaign period is over :-/
I'm hoping NZ/Aus will get an alternative promotion, the free delivery only applies to UK and spending a huge amount on shipping alone isn't ideal...
Doesn't help that the only thing applicable to PC are the physical game time cards, which are already out of stock.
Can't they have a universal Amazon promotion instead?
They have no stock of time cards but still ask me for my CC details when its in back order. If I am paying for it now when its not even in stock, than I want my code please.
PS- This is another case of the vendor underestimate the popularity of FFXIV, they should have had in stock hundreds of thousands of time cards and other SE games when they agreed to do this promo. Epic fail!
"Your first two orders with us must be shipped to your billing address for security and fraud prevention reasons."
Yeah right, keep doing this purchases-that-will-never-be-delivered because not every EU players are in EU/UK countries. There are Asian players, you know that right, SE?
At least get a general store that's not too strict over this kind of thing, so many Asia players are having hard times to get the EU promotional items.
I think hanabee did well last year, from what my friends told me.

Logging to the ShopTo site this morning in the vain hope that they've sorted this mess out with you and there's been a significant update since 1am last night!
They've taken the FFXIV Promo Microsite offline altogether and instead when I click the link, I get told to buy FIFA18. So now the S-E social media are promoting FIFA18 for them. Great!
/sigh
Yeah, seems they pulled the promo site. Happened once last night as well.
I ordered something early on but no code is displayed on the site - it says I have a code in the order tab but there's seemingly no way to display it. I assume it hasn't been assigned yet...
Again, UK players are screwed over by having to compete with the rest of the European region which includes the likes of New Zealand and Australia. Not that I blame them for wanting the promotional items but given that this happened with some of the other promotions I would have thought the amount of promotional items would be very high to compensate. I'm still struggling to understand why European players can't get a promotion that involves something as simple as going to Amazon or Starbucks, buying a product and then getting a code that way.
They may have actually tried to get the different Amazon branches (or other equivalents) on board, but that for whatever reason it can't be done. What puzzles me though, is that knowing how in-demand these in-game items are, why do they keep keep choosing these obscure methods of giving them to us? It only causes friction and displeasure within the community. If their main goal was to make them available for everyone, they should've just put them on the Mog Station.
At this point I fully agree. It would've been one thing if they could provide similar or even comparable campaigns to everyone, but they obviously can't, time and again. The problem is that that's the sort of thing they need to look into prior to kickstarting the first campaign in the chain, but I really don't see them passing up on the JP and even NA campaign because of the rest of us. So we're screwed, in short.
Firstly I agree that this Shopto arrangement is a mess and everyone complaining is correct. However, I was lucky and managed to buy the last time card yesterday (checked out at the same time as a friend and his was removed during checkout due to stock - so sorry, my friend!)
So I'd like to clear up a few queries people have.
1. You absolutely do not need to enter a credit card. I didn't make an account at all. If you have PayPal just use express checkout and avoid the pain. It will create the account and log you in automatically without a card that way, though if you switch computers you will need to reset your password since they never let me set one in the first place.
2. It took about two hours between receiving my payment confirmation email from Shopto and the order actually showing up on my account. This was stressful. Apparently their support staff answer quickly if you open a ticket, according to a friend.
3. To view the code, which is really non-obvious, you go to Orders. If your order is there with a status of Processing or something more advanced, click it and right at the bottom under your address there will be a button to claim your code. Doesn't seem to work for preorders, but unshipped orders will still issue a code.
Good luck everyone, hope there's a big restock as soon as possible.
I bought something and order shows nothing, when do I get the code?
what seriously?? I jsut pre ordered something because everything else was out of stock?????? FUCK THIS
Wow. This is just horrible.
Seriously SE, what the hell are you thinking? 175 pages of this thread with loads and loads of people who are ready to throw money at YOU for a few ingame-items. What do we get instead? S...tuff like that. Seriously, I don't get it.
Now instead of finally having happy customers again, who are willing to rip the cloud and the attire out of your hands, you'll be again met with rightful complaints about not being able to get said items.
Why those campaigns? Why not just putting them in the Mog Station? No one wants those campaigns. No one wants to be forced to buy a product from a shady looking and horribly working website they don't really want or need, if they're even happy enough to be able to get something.
Whoever thought that this was a good idea... No, just no.
I'm just gonna go wait a couple of days to see if anything comes back in stock. Because of course there's going to be a run on everything the first day. I wasn't surprised to find the site down yesterday, either. That's how these things go.
1. Promotion partner not capable of handling the regional user base
2. Nothing worthwhile for us PC players
Yeah. No. I'm not even bothering this time around.
I thought I could not be further surprised but it seems I am..really who is creating all of these campaigns? It really feels quite unprofessional...just put them in the mog station and be done with it please. :/ You are just going to anger more and more people.
I'd love to know why Yoshi-P has not commented on this issue...
Is he even aware of it?
Doubt it and if he was aware, I doubt he would care. The fact that we reached 175 pages and year of complaining and asking SE to just put the items in the Mog Station, shows that people are not happy with the current way and that SE is not handeling this very well. SE knows that we want these items, they know that we are willing to pay money for it via the Mog Station, but we are ignored and get events that are not handled well.
I am going to wait for few days and hope they restock fast, but this is disappointing and one can only think of next years event, because from what I can see, we will be experiencing this all over again next year.
community team commented on the official thread, don't act like there is no communication.
Website is slow loading because their traffic is far larger than usual from the sheer amount of XIV players trying to get in on the campaign. Everything is out of stock because of the sheer amount of XIV players trying to get in on the campaign. Ordering a back-order copy works for me.
Website is slowly loading now, but everything is out of stock and I can't even back-order a copy for when it restocks because it doesn't let me login. Does it work for anybody else?
Why are you replying before my comment..? Oh, whatever, look, I said I understand that the page is slow for the reasons we all know, but it's been a day now and I still haven't even been able to log in into my account, let alone try to queue for a back order. The rest of the website goes fine, but I get error 500 whenever I try to login. I've tried different browser, a different device, nothing, and the only way I can request their support is by logging in, lol.
And now I'm wondering, are they going to leave it broken all the weekend long and fix it on monday?
Everything concerning cross promotions with square enix has been nothing but trouble, but what can I say, I guess I should be happy because for the first time ever I even have the chance to partecipate?
The inner pessimist of me says: I dont think so because we are not the Japanese player base..and I am not sure if he would truly care if he knows it.
This has been going on for a long time and we barely have any community team responds here..at least if some time has gone by they could at least say a bit about the future. Just "we are still planning campaigns" or "everything will be in the mog station at least till xx" would be better than barely any communication at all. I mean we still dont even have the butler sets in the cash shop and that was quite some time ago..even if they need to wait a certain time to release them in the mog station thanks to some contract (which somehow does not include the other Asian regions..) they could just inform us when we will see it.
I missed the event I'm from NA servers. I'm kinda poed they've been blowing it off. I mean I know Japan got it twice. \(•▪•)/
I think the best thing SE can do is add those items to the Mog Station. There are players who live in regions where they are not able buy the items from the promotions and we will always have newcomers who might one day want to own these items. Selling it via the Mog Station is the best path, SE makes money and majority of players can have it aswell.
Or in my case broke and have bills xD
why everything must be locked ? ._. Do you think if we can use a NA or JP code and them EU code , it would resolve problems with this type of promotion ?
Most yes, but then there is the shipping cost, the need to own a creditcards etc. An example in my country (The Netherlands) most of us dont use a creditcard, because we dont need it and to own a creditcard means you need to pass a certain requirement (its not as easy as getting one in the USA), so for the 2016 and 2017 event, I had to get a prepaid creditcard. I was lucky that in my country this was a option for me to get, but others dont have it as easy.
If I was as SE, I would do the following:
1. Release the promotions at the same time for every region (I hate as a EU player that I need to wait for 5-6 months) and make the codes usable by all regions.
2. When the event ends, put the items in the Mog Station. Not wait a year or two, the week it ends, the next week sell them via the Mog Station.
Players get the items, players are happy. SE gets money, SE is happy.
Seems these items are available on eBay if anyone is still looking for them.
I would rather get them from the Mogstation but I can't rely on SE ever putting them up for sale.
Once 31/12/17 comes they could be gone forever, never to be seen again.
I'm not going to risk missing out!:D
i hope they will never add in mog station exclusiv items, otherwise they wouldnt be exclusive and less special. sure you want them, but bcs less people has, when everyone had it would be casual^^
They truncated the amount of time it takes to get veteran awards. So many people now have the Squall outfit. Furthermore, we already had 'exclusive' items show up in the Mog Station - we have the moogle attire. The question isn't necessarily if things will remain exclusive, but how long will each item enjoy exclusivity.
