Housing Ideas and Feature Requests

I'd like to see SE allow us more leeway in pushing objects into walls when decorating. This is particularly needed when trying to use floor coverings like Tatami Mats. You can't get them completely flush against some walls do to the limitations. Same goes for say Pillars when segmenting a room and trying to match up with the corner pillars. Let us push things into walls without limit!

I'd also like to see a partition with door option that matches the other wall types.

- One FC house and one personal house per account or just one house per account.

- Introduce the moving feature weeks after shirogane housing becomes available.

- Create new gathering furnishings that give bonuses to gathers.

- Add 3 more wards to help alleviate demand.

- Make deeds tradable and possibly sellable.

- Add a market board indoor furnishing.

You should implement an in-game feature that allows players and Free companies the ability to "preorder" a house, with the information you can get an idea of what type of housing people want rather than throwing an equal amount on each Server and hoping for the best.

If you setup infrastructure where a player can put a request on housing, then you can get a better idea of what each servers needs are rather than trying to keep them balanced.

It would be wiser if the design for wards was based on a per server status and could even serve as a means to automatically add in more wards as needed.

I'd like to see a Garlean flag/banner for interior decoration. There are numerous role-players who portray characters loyal to Garlemald...and many who don't role-play but still appreciate the wonderful nuances that Garlemald brings to the table. So it would definitely be appreciated, I think!

You can submit as many designs as you want, so long as you design/draw them yourself, either traditionally (either scanned or photographed) or digitally.
The submission period starts today (8/1) til 8/28, 7:59 am PDT. On 11/10, SE will announce 100 winners on the Lodestone. All the winners will receive a package of six items: The Gaelicap, the Noble Barding, The Mandragora Chocker, the Ahriman Chocker, The Bluebird Earrings, and the Scarf of Wondrous Wit.
Each design must include a Front, Side, and Back view of the furnishing.
You can submit up to 3 images for a single design, the total size of the email can't exceed 3mb, and only jpegs and pngs are accepted. Also, low resolution images or images with graphical issues will be skipped.
You must also provide info like what type of furniture it is (table, tabletop, chair, etc.), what material it's made out of (wood, leather, metal, etc.), where it's dyeable, its size compared to an in-game character, and any lights or effects it has IN the image(s) you provide.

I can't wait to see what people come up with. That multiple angles bit is going to be painful though. I'm going to need a box of crayons and an essay to explain what the weird shapes are all supposed to be.

Just to note, it doesn't state indoor only just no housing structures such as a fence or window.

Big outside signs that display your FC crest, and big indoor plaques or signs with crest too. We should be able have more ways to rep our FC

More unique rooms to buy like the workshop. Maybe a Armory/pvp room were you can display armor and weapon on the walls, a dummy and can 1v1. Idk maybe a huge pool room were ppl can swim and hangout.
Also, being able to place the door to rooms, and making member rooms door seperate from workshop(others) door.

Finally, pleeease make it so we dont get kicked from our house/room everytime we log or do a instance...please. Im sure theres a technical reason but figure it, i wanna be able you use my bed to log out and login like we can in the Inn rooms.

1.More Authorizations for Tenets like letting them move furniture but not add/remove.
2.Tenet list for FC houses as some FC's have friends that are not apart of their FC and dont wan't too make their FC house open to the public.
3.Link the mini Aetheryte too a players FC house(must have mini Aetheryte)/apartment/Shared estate (must have mini Aetheryte). QoL
4. Fences with doors or Gates on them.

Sure, Link them togather so that when you click on one you can transfer too one of the other properties. For example click the mini at your house and use it too teleport to your fc house, so that jumping between homes is free rather then being charged or running all over a ward.

Allow a setting under housing-> Estate Settings for direct warp. This would let you choose from warping outside your personal, fc room, or apartment (default setting as it is now) or inside the actual buildings. The miniaetheryte system that exists can already be placed in the far back corner of your estate and you always warp in front of the gate, so i don't see why you wouldn't be able to warp inside using it.

A better housing system would be nice in order to allow everyone to get their special place to call home.

Minion house. We got all these minions, we should really make an outdoor furnishing that you can anchor a minion too.

I'm sure its been said lots of times. But need more outdoor item limits for small houses 20 item slots fill up fast, would also like to see more exterior styles that are realistic (not everyone like the cheesy Paissa,Chocobo,Carbuncle,Moogle house walls} would like to scale items some items are way to big for lalas and some are too small for roe some way to big for tables

Here's what I'd like to see, a way to have an orchestrion only play in certain areas of the house. So you can blank off certain areas and have them either silent, or play the default theme, or possibly have different areas play different themes too (according to unlocked orchestrion rolls of the user adjusting it)?

That would be a good idea, but I also still would like to change the lighting on the floors differently. I have a cinema in my basement with spot lights to the "screen" and I would like to have the house light there in 0. But that would suck for the other floors. ^^

Maybe there is already some furniture trickery to achieve what I am about to request. If so, please tell me!

At any rate, I would love for an ability to lower the freakishly high ceilings in the lower part of the small cottage. I ain't Lalafell before you ask, but the high ceiling kinda robs the room of all it's comfiness.

I'd just like the water garden that they have inside the Gridania Inn.

How about having a house be shared across all characters on the account on a given world and a type of stash or box that could hold contents accessible to any characters on the account in a given world?

(That table is fantastic. and so is most of the stuff on it! various scattered coins? playing cards? an open book? Stuff like this gives a place a more lived in feel!)

Can we please move the entrance for the workshop/private chambers into the corner? It's in a pretty awkward place at the moment.

If you have a lot of extra furnishing spaces, a friend of mine used the wax vegetables item and the floating item trick to make a lower "ceiling" in his basement.

How about some more wards amirite

Please give us a menu to disable/lock certain interactions until enabled/unlocked. Stuff like paintings you never interact with until you feel like redecorating.

Could there be a communal spot for people with apartments to put gardening plots and/or outdoor furniture? really I only want a house to have a garden, but all I have so far is an apartment. which is cool and all but I can't grow anything ^^;

You can with special planters and pots. You just can't crossbreed.

Can we please having a housing skin that looks like a Yurt or one of those tents from The Steppe or The Reach?

Can we get some ukiyo-e/woodblock prints as wall decorations?

It's nice and all that plants no longer rot, but can I get an option to grow rotten plants for my horror-theme housing please? Also, please consider removing the shiny sparkles from a fully matured plant if players choose to leave them in the flower pot.

A dyable tabletop version of the rising balloon would be really nice as well as a smaller version with those features.

Exactly the same thought when I put them in my house. Would be nice if we can get some of those outdoor crystals too. The small round one along with the larger crystal pillar (not the one we got previously). Also, would be nice if we can get the aether portal that leads us to Yoshi-P as a new housing aethernet crystal.

Also, any chance we can directly teleport into house/apartment/chamber? I wonder how difficult it will be from a technical point of view. :x

Well, the Furnishing Design Contest has come and gone, and I don't know how many of you had the chance to enter, but I know I had a lot more ideas than I was able to turn into entries.

So! Since this is the place for it, I may as well post the remainder of what I'd prepared here, in case the community team feels like sifting through even more than the probably thousands of items already flooding their inboxes.

Deluxe Retainer Counter
A canopied wooden counter with well-stocked shelf for use by retainers.
The Retainer Counter is all right, but it lacks a few features. However, outfit it with a Merchant's Shelf to display inventory, some canvas to protect the stall from the elements, plus a few decorations to draw the customer's eye, and your retainer can sell in comfort and style!

Garden Shed
A wooden shed for keeping garden and stable implements and other miscellaneous tools. Also spacious enough to store out-of-season yard decorations.

Millioncorn Plot
A few short rows of ripening millioncorn stalks. Perfect for display during the harvest season!

Wastebasket
Though oft overlooked, the wastebasket is an indispensable household staple. Perfect for those who prefer to maintain a temporary repository for their light refuse, rather than pitching it immediately into a nearby hearth or campfire.
Meant to have Riviera, Glade and Oasis varieties.

Goobbue Beanbag Chair
A large stuffed leather pouch fashioned after a wide-mouthed goobbue. The multitude of lightweight beads used to fill the pouch lend it a puffiness and malleability that allow it to conform to and comfort any body type.
Makes a 'sneeze' sound effect when sat upon.

Terrarium
A rectangular glass tank that, when partially filled with earth, can serve as a home for select creatures caught in the wild. Perfect for creatures which prefer a warm, dry environment, including reptiles, amphibians, insects or arachnids, as well as dunefish and skyfish.

Model Phantom Train
Runs on its set of tracks and billows tiny puffs of ceruleum exhaust.

Magicked Picture Frame
An enchanted frame suitable for displaying a sequence of several paintings or illustrations.
Same size as a Grade 3 Picture Frame, but can store multiple paintings and uses an Orchestrion-like menu to make a 'playlist' for a slideshow.

Octopus Royalty
A commissioned black velvet painting of otherworldly abomination and Coliseum employee Ultros entitled Octopus Royalty. Original artist unknown.

Magicked Candle Ward
Circle of waxen candles, when activated it lights up a magic circle pattern on the floor. The candles' and magic circle's color changes with dye.

Kobold Diver Tank Trimmings
An assortment of items used to outfit an aquarium that it might resemble a treasure-laden salvage site. [For use in any tier aquarium.]
Features a Kobold Diver figurine, bubble-blowing treasure chest, and in a Tier 4 Aquarium, a derelict ship with hibernating sea monster!

Amphibian Familiar Permit
A Poroggo porter of your very own! Sells a small selection of medicines and fishing tackle, but more importantly, lends an air of marshland magicks as only a transmogrified frog can.
