Back on topic:

I can understand the JPs opinion of not rocking the boat. Iirc, Their opposition to same sex relationships was of a different variety (ideas of maturity in Japan instead of the religious opposition in the West), not to mention feudal japan has had a history with same sex relations.

I wouldn't be surprised if it is a bigger deal here than there.(and thus, less civil here)

Hmm, I dunno
Same sex relation between samurai is a well known issue that been adapted in many format. Might worth to mention that those relation was kept hidden because it against their code of honor maybe, or something like that
