If he will progress offline, maybe even just make little vids about his journey, Id say thats a smart choice.

Yes you are trivializing their achievements. That is what jealous people do. They never admit any of the achievements that others have done. Same. A one and done story for me. It's too much, and it's linear. I only really play linear games once for the story anyway. Few times will I ever play them more than once - and that's really only if it has decent gameplay... which ARR most definitely does NOT. SWTOR, for example, had a Bioware style story, and each class had a bit of a different storyline, so it was worth making and playing alts for the story.

ARR is probably worth a skip, especially if you are going to be streaming the game. The story overall is probably around 2-3 LARGE RPGs in length, and it would be BORING to watch, as half of it is not even voiced. Not to mention, any 'fun' content is locked behind this story, so all there is to do is run around from dialogue box to dialogue box doing dungeons that offer zero challenge, and a couple skills.

No skip means weeks of Zzz's on stream, I'd say. Maybe he can make it into a sort of podcast for his viewership.

That's probably his main concern, and why he said to keep the negativity to a minimum. That, along with people telling him how to play. If he wants to go around doing whatever instead of the MSQ, people should let him. But "backseat gaming" plagues multiple streamers that I've seen, especially if it's someone trying an older game for the first time.

Nevertheless, part of the appeal of his content is getting his reaction, and that would include his reaction to the MSQ as that is an unavoidable part of FFXIV. If he ends up not liking FFXIV, his viewers would at least be able to see his full reaction live. (Of course, if he wants to continue, he may also decide not to stream all of his play time, depending on his schedule.)

He's expressed...and I agree with him that he Shouldn't Buy a Skip.
If he HAS to buy a skip, that is a negative mark on the game...and even if ARR is abit of a slog, its one worth going through, as it lays foundations for the games lore and storytelling later down the line.
He might actually care about story and lore, because Ive seen quite alot of videos of him watching lore dumps, and FFXIV doesn't have such videos (to my knowledge) of people explaining events and giving funny easy to digest tidbits about Eorzea Lore like WoW has with Azeroth. ""Warcrafts Most Incompetent King"" for example.

I kinda think he might be able to view ARR as a Game for its time, and might understand it will be slow because of the time it was made.
