LOL the main job for a MT is to TANK. If you cant meet DPS checks in any content then you need to look at your DPS's in the group. GET GOOD and GEAR UP if you can't meet the dps checks. If you like to go all out as a tank and try to pull high dps then go for it. If your healer enjoys going crazy with healing then why not but DO NOT try to tell other players how they should gear up. The last time I checked TANKS can only GREED on STR jewelry. Which means the devs made it crystal clear that VIT gear is for tanks GET OVER IT.
Personally I like to mix up my jewelry. I only use str jewelry that has skill speed the rest will be vit based. That's my preference if you have a problem with that oh well that is not my problem.
Tanks, please use strength gear.. :(

While I agree that it is nice for tanks that are comfortable with their skill level, to use Strength-based accessories, the important detail is just that - comfort. The more I read this thread the more it starts to turn into a "use strength accessories or you suck". I hate that attitude.
At the end of the day, tanks are meant to tank, you can't tell tanks out there that they suck, or are playing the game wrong, when in truth, they are playing correctly by being a VIT build tank. Can you make a suggestion that they can be a better tank if they learn to balance STR and VIT builds for maximum efficiency? Sure. In fact, I sometimes suggest it to my tank friends that believe full VIT is the way to go, but do I ever try to make them or tell them they suck at their job if they run full VIT? No. -

The day I hang up my VIT gear for STR is the day DPS hang up their STR/DEX for VIT so that they can survive more than 2 AoEs.

STR gear is an optimization. By all means, if VIT gear gear makes you comfortable or makes you feel more "tankey" then use it.
However, don't make the mistake that those of us that do use it and are practiced in its use are glass canons. I am every bit as survivable with a couple STR accessories than I am loaded up with HP I'm not going to use.
If you like VIT then cool, but don't think that STR is a bad option without your own testing. -

They take into account good DPS from tanks when designing the harder enrages like A3S and A4S, so unless you want to wait until you overgear a fight dramatically you need your tanks putting out good damage right now.Quote:

this discusion depend of the tank, war for example can go perfect to str because they have a freaking op burts, and some skill gain in str, for mi warr i go hybrid 2 vit 3 str.
pld and drk i like go to vit excep 1 str ring for me is more optime.
i think most ppl when some1 say tanking is tank and no dps miss undertand someting, tanks whe dealt dps no mather what 200 or 1000 they skills dealt damage when hit whit our swords and axes, when whe say fending is for us whe dont say, dont dealt any type of dps because is imposible.
vit never whas a problem for me or mi raid, and i kill all the most content from 2.1 to now whit mi on vit built, yeah im not the 1ยบ global player to beat raids in 1-2 weeks but i dont care and no1 complain from mi built never. -
