Sorry, like Krr said. Not allowed by the ToS != Cheating.

Account sharing, an almost ubiquitous item across MMORPGs, is an extremely good example of this. While sharing your accounts isn't "cheating" and they're more or less exchanged or gifted like bought property (materially, not legally,) the concern is not that account sharing is inherently destructive to the game or the community but that they cannot officially support it happening, due to player safety concerns and liability.
("X logged into my account and stole my credit card! You're responsible!" "No, sorry, account sharing is against the ToS so we have no liability beyond our obligation to ban your account to prevent this behavior.")
Many, many things condemned by policy are done not because they are "immoral" or "wrong", they are done to protect the interests of the company in terms of legal liability in the event that an innocent activity turns into legal damages.
As a side-effect the universal bans of say, both account sharing and third-party software, also give the company convenient outs to ban actually destructive behavior, like people operating botter hiveminds. But their only purpose isn't to "identify cheaters" by a long shot.
It's more interesting to see how players defend parsers passionately yet claim in no way does it give them an advantage over someone that doesn't use them. If it was allowed "No Problem" but since it isn't under the current Tos it's just cheating. Getting real tired of people not seeing this simple point.
Of course parsers give players an advantage, that's the entire purpose behind them. An equally interesting nugget at the risk of sounding super elitist: Every strong anti-parser poster I've looked at with public achievements in this thread hasn't cleared T6. As a group you all don't seem to appreciate that the advantage parsers bring to the table is outright required at the very top tier of this game's content. I'd absolutely love to have you guys watching over my shoulder on a T6 savage attempt as it transitions. It's like nothing you've experienced in this game and I honestly think you are missing out. Don't take it too seriously (it's just a title after all!) and it's really quite exhilarating :)
Just stop posting about it then, we get it. Parsers need that so called competitive edge like a junkie needs their next fix. Don't threaten people either with words like people getting blocked, it only further proves how adverse you are to people that are happy to follow the rules SE has laid out to ensure everyone is playing fairly.
Pure crafting players not interested in raiding, only goal is to craft/make gil. One person buys extra retainers for £££ $$$ to double selling spots, gains advantage over people who don't buy/can't afford it. But wait, as long as it benefits SE, it's not against the rules right?
That's cute.
1) Of course parsers give you an advantage. You just don't know/understand what kind of advantage it is and honestly, it's pointless to try to explain it to you. Why don't you just boot a game where it's more than alright to use it and test it yourself? (WOW is a good example). Maybe then you can compose a valid opinion about them.
2) Cheating? You're still on this? A parser doesn't magically make you bypass mechanics and dodge red circles, etc.
Do you still think a parser is a gameshark or something? I thought we covered this over 40 pages ago.
It is against the TOS; but that doesn't mean people shouldn't voice their opinion on the forums about them. Besides, you'll likely see parsers sooner or later as officially supported. With the direction the game has taken, this is likely inevitable, specially once mod support becomes available.
3) People are jerks no matter what tools you give or take from them. Get over it; parser or no parser every MMO has it's share of them.
I haven't cleared T6 but I'm not anti-dps parser (legit one built in the game)..... :( As a few other folks as well here have said -that are not hardcore raiders, as well - with or without the dps parser, we're fine...I wouldn't mind it and I wouldn't be against not having it because it won't affect MY personal gaming life. I'm 100% sure this would stay within the confines of the statics and just like with everything, if someone abuses it in DF, just report them. People who are genuine asshats will find a way to abuse another person regardless of the tools you give them - I'm not going to go into the gun debate here where people kill people, not guns kill people because I'm Australian...we don't do that shit.
Your sig mocks them ;)

Threaten? If I wanted to block you, I would of done it long ago. The point was that if you keep making false claims and such, people will do it. It's not a threat.
And no, they just recognize how useful it is. Many of them might use them in this game, under wraps, many may not. Doesn't change the usefulness of a tool.
