An Open Letter to Yoshida-san: Please Slice One Zero Off the Housing Prices

What makes you think that personal housing will not be as expensive as a small house?

Big thing here is the people on nonlegacy servers saying pricing is fair when they don't have to deal with the prices we're seeing on Balmung, Excalibur and others. Some perspective please, people, come on.

This isn't personal housing. This is FC housing. The point of FC housing is that everyone comes together to buy it, not just the one person.
Moreover, it isn't as if people are starting at 0 gil. People already have some gil saved up that they can use to contribute to FC housing.

If 4-8 million is what my RP FC is expected to amass, that'd be one thing, but the cheapest plot on Balmung (popular RP server since 1.0) is 20 million. You're asking every 2.0+ created FC on this server to amass more than five times the amount of gil you do on yours. You are not thinking fairly about this problem at all. Most of you aren't.

Where there's no more than 8 men content, do you think I should force my members to dump everything into the FC?

Because it's meant to be affordable by a single person. Based on Yoshi's "20k per day for 3 or 4 months" statement, I'd guess personal houses will run around 2.5 million.

But that's going based on what we're seeing today. Since the prices of FC housing are sure to fall in the weeks ahead (and I'm not talking about the .14% drop every six hours), there's a good chance they'll be able to put up plots for personal housing for less than that once they've got everything ready.

If they buy rack space and and hardware only to later find out they don't need it, they don't get that money back. Rack space isn't cheap, and no one is going to buy used servers for anywhere near what SE paid for them.

Thusfar, 'the servers may not be able to handle it' has come up with respect to:
1) Continued log-in issues after the initial 'upgrade' after launch.
2)The display system that makes Odin/Behemoth such a nightmare (though I'll grant them this one, as it is also partially designed to alleviate stress on users' CPUs and culling issues tend to plague a lot of games).
3) The .3 second delay. It's being reduced in some places, but to universally fix it would apparently kill their set-up.
4) Player housing not coming at the onset.
5) Player housing potentially not coming at all and FC-rooms being forced in instead.
6) FC housing in general, so it seems...

It's a common trend and, "Maybe we should just anticipate the worst, bite the bullet, and enhance the setup to cover ourselves" seems to never be a solution they actually consider. It's always, "Will we be able to do that without spending anything?" :-/

Really? Because I'm pretty sure they never confirmed personal housing in the 1st place. They are still debating whether ppl get personal homes or just rooms inside the FC Housing
