Post Your Healing Horror Stories.

Well for meteors i always position myself to take the center meteor so i know that i can heal the MT from where i am at all times. Most of the spawns will have one in the middle the only time you need to move is during the cloud phase and then the Tank is fine since the boss is too busy sucking in clouds. There is nothing to do for Healers so it's best in that phase they handle the 3 meteors as they spawn between the 6 of them they can cover the room. I think they are only Healer specific for that phase I'd rather DPS kill clouds than chase meteors around the room if they can.

Just finished a 'fun' run of Tam Tara Hard...

It wouldn't have been so bad, but I got stuck with a summoner who didn't quite seem to know how to use their abilities. I don't think I saw all three DoTs from them on any enemy, not even the bosses, which means either no Fester was being used, or it was severely weaker than it could have been. Somehow they did manage to attack enough of the first boss' adds for everyone to end up with 7 stacks of the debuff there, so near wipe (everyone lived but me). The second boss went all right, save for the fact I was laying more DoTs on the boss than the summoner and the tank didn't pull him around the edges, instead leading him right towards the NPC, who took several hits from the boss. Last boss... again, no sustained attacks from the summoner, so we wiped hard from the zombies reaching the middle when we didn't burn the boss down fast enough. Second time we beat him, barely, thanks to a good lb from the blm.

Simply healing in CS in T9.

Well. Everyday the same. A tank pulls a set or 2. Them tanks for a while. You be like "this is what he grabs" as soon as you put regen + medica for holy spam. He walks to the next set. I try to compensate but get interrupted. We wipe. And I'll be the one who caused the wipe. In all the time I've played only 1 tank clicked medica + regen off.. Story of my laif.

lets say a Lalafell (tank lol) was sacrificed in the hopes of progression. (static alt run)

Hmmmm good idea, in ref to just taking the middle meteor (in ref to first phase - there's not so much a prob for meteors in the Cloud phase, that I've seen).
o_o;a *derp* Not sure why I didn't just do that in the first place since I tend to start moving back towards the middle after second Feint Particle Bean (usually the meteors appear by the time the tracked person reaches the back), but I guess bad runs instilled fear of the distance of the rear meteors...
I'll try to modify my behavior and aim just for the middle of the room for that specific phase and similar issue (I don't know what else the healers are paying attention to, during that - only damage should be to the MT >_> or if someone derps a crowd with Feint Particle Beam), like you described - and just wash my hands of the back of the room, for the MT, if no one else is sharing the MT healing. Que sera, sera at that point.

Is it bad that what would be (trial) healing horror stories are becoming TOO much fun to me? o_oa Or am I just getting that bored/in need of challenge? I feel the only horror stories I want to flip tables over, now, are CT raid related. >.> /shrug I've come across HM trials that were more challenging to maintain healing the party a lot more often lately, and quite an influx of new players doing them... - creating chaos via the new peeps not used to the mechanics and hit by everything, my being overgeared and dragging the bosses off newer tanks (/grovel sorry, tanks ._.;; ) and so on.

Don't get me wrong, I've absolutely no problem when playing with newer people and they're seeing the mechanics for the first or so times. I really don't rage at that unless they have bad attitudes or don't listen. I like being able to help them out and watch them learn as they go. But I used to be, "WHEW @_@ Okay, I need a break...OTL" - now I'm just, "+_+ MOARE CHAOS! MOARE NUB PARTIES! AAAAHAHAHAHA! \*O*/"

Funny enough, about that bolded bit, I that intentionally when I'm in a trial DR and I see a low level tank versus high level DPS. I get a HUGE enmity lead on WHM via Medica II / Cure III then tell the tank to Provoke off me. Afterwards, I Shroud and the new tank now has solid hate for the entire fight (hopefully).

Not too long ago I got partied with a presumably new whm in ST (I was learning as sch). The whole time it felt like our heals were weak or perhaps too many mistakes were made(esp at scylla with near wipe at 4%), then I realized my fellow healer wasn't healing! Didn't even cast an occasional regen, and when s/he died, s/he tellied back from start! I confirmed it through the chat (which I barely read bec too busy) that s/he would just watch how things go T______T I wanted to be upset but somehow the run was a great crash course on solo-healing so I still thanked him/her :P

If you have a competent raid then soloing healing can be pretty easy in ST. I had to solo heal Amon not too long ago. Yeah I'm way over leveled but I had so much free time it was unreal. I was DPSing most of the fight.

Edit: But, of course, when you are learning it gets way messier. And its awesome that you took something positive out of the experience. Soon you'll barely notice bad healers unless you make a mistake, because you can keep up most of the healing.

Oh man, I just finished a run of WoD that was both fun and infuriating.

So, it started out off on a bad note, someone pulled the Garms and one of my DPS was locked out, which is fine, but the other healer didn't seem to like it because he left like right after. So I solo healed that and the first boss, because no one wanted to wait the 30 seconds to vote kick him (wasn't even 5 minutes in). It went well, my team was mostly competent and the only time anyone died was from Doom or standing on the wrong side too often.

Well, so after that we kicked him and we started on Scylla and Xande. Easy enough, and we got a new healer in while doing it. Little did I know that this was not a good thing.

Right as Xande fell the new healer asked if she could have the bard drops, and if the bards could pass on them "lol". One of the bards said "no. I still need gear". Well, that wasn't the right answer because "I left another group as a bard to come here to give you a healer. so no healing now." Got to Hydra and she refused to enter the fight. So I solo healed this boss as well. Again went fine.

After this my team vote kicked her before Atomos fight. One of my DPS got mad and left, and then she returned as the "new healer". She was all "reported." contacting a gm right now". I asked her "for?" never got an answer. Solo healed Atomos because even though she was there she did nothing but stand on the lower platform. Cerberus was basically the same, though she always went and got mini'd then stood under the boss. Also her fairy was placed in a far corner. My team wanted to kick her but she kept bring up "vote to abandon" and everyone trusted me to keep us alive that the decided not to try voting her out on Cerberus. For some reason, I dunno.

At this point she started complaining in Alliance chat about my team and me. We filled everyone else in on what was going on and many of them stated how disgusted they were in how she was acting.

On to Cloud of Darkness (couldn't vote kick because of loot rolling and I let everyone who asked us too that) one guy said she sounded like a disease you can't get rid of. She stood in the far back with her fairy and did nothing else. We were doing great until we missed a meteor (I was in one and for some reason three bards ignored the last) most everyone was wiped and she got 11 stacks from clouds and wiped us.

After that the other healer brought up a vote to abandon again, everyone was telling us to vote kick her (which you can't when there is another vote going on, duh) and right as the vote to abandon vote failed someone said "she's pulling cloud". Well, half of us got locked out and another person said "good, now we can report her for griefing." Which me, and a few others did. She was finally kicked and everyone just wanted to get it over with so my group was all "this is on you." and I just did what I had been doing, solo healed. We got a new Healer but she was too late, and the DRG on my team was locked out because she was too busy writing the report out. But it went well, and we were able to take her down. It wasn't very hard honestly. My team was amazing at dodging and dealing good amounts of DPS.

We finished and everyone on my team was like "awesome. Lucas (character name) you did great." the DRG evrn said she wished she could give more than one because I deserved it. I got 6 of the 7 commendation (7th was probs new healer) and I got my Gloves!

All in all it was good practice but hectic.

People like that are so childish. Come in demanding loot that others need and then throw a hissy fit when they don't get everything their own way. Good it worked out for you though. I think if the Healers in the raid are awake you can cope with less than two per group. It's when people can only manage to heal their own group that there are problems.

My healing horror story..... I believe I WAS the horror story. For the healers. In Ifrit EX, while on my bard character/alt... first time in, ever..... always disorientated as to where the debuffed healer was.... 1 am in the morning...... nervousy.... I think you can get the jist.... (yeah, did watch the vid right before queuing, but was still a moving shit-on-a-stick). I'm pretty sure they wanted to strangle me.

If it makes you feel better, you don't actually have to clear Ifrit EX to unlock Shiva EX. There's two paths for unlocking primals.

Garuda -> Titan -> Ifrit
Mog + Leviathan -> Ramuh -> Shiva

Ifrit is really really simple unless you get those weird Healers who try to do things backwards. I will always be standing on the west side with the debuff apart from when nails are cleared in the east then if i have the debuff i'll move that side so the DPS are clear to kill the remaining nails. That's literally the whole fight apart from a couple of explosions and running in front of Ifrit to dodge plumes. If a Healer keeps standing on the other side i just want to punch them. If a DPS comes to stand next to me when i have the debuff i'll just let them die until they learn exploding Healer is bad XD.

This is more of a friends horror story then my own but, as a healer main I feel I should post her experience. She is a SCH.

She is relatively new to end game content and qued up for Keeper of the Lake for the first time, she was almost done watching the video for it but the tank would not let her finish saying she did not need it. She went along with it and began her job. The tank proceeds to pull the everything which overwhelmed her quickly since she had no experience with large pulls, after a few wipes tank admits he is drunk which makes my friend even more nervous. Fast forward several wipes and to the final boss. My friend had not seen that part of the video and asked for advice on the fight, they refused to give her advice, claiming it was all obvious. After about 3 more wipes, she ends up getting kicked by them with 12 minutes left on the clock.

Fast forward to today, she wants to try again so I que with her on my bard. Tank and other dps seem fine and well mannered, good feeling about this. First boss, tank keeps aiming cleaves at bombs and blames her for the wipes we had after *double big bomb on a fresh SCH can be horrid*. Things calm down and we proceed, everything goes smoothly, we beat second boss with no deaths or issues. My friend is looking at the loot pool and the tank goes and pulls while she is not even around and we all die. He says "Heals would be nice :/" to which me and my friend respond that she was looking at the loot and that we were sorry. My friend catches up and casts protect, we are ready to go...but wait...i see the vote kick window pop up. I of course vote no, but it made no difference as my friend was kicked before my eyes.

She ended up going to bed upset and maybe crying. All she wanted was to clear and both times she wound up kicked, I find this horrible. I left right after she got kicked...after telling them they had just kicked a friend who only wanted to clear for the story. (no swears, just informing them just who they kicked without mercy or patience). Tomorrow I will be taking her back in with two friends so she does not get kicked again, I don't want her to go threw this more then twice. And its sad she had to more then once or at all. People at end game are way to impatient and unforgiving of those who are new to content. (not all endgamers mind you, just an unfortunately large amount of them, as I bump into more jerks then nice people.)

And your point being? All I was pointing out was that I never understand why people do it. It doesn't change the fact that she was kicked for a stupid reason, but makes it even worse. The tank being drunk makes it harder on the healer. Her being kicked was even more unfair because they were drunk. I don't understand what you are trying to say...

Been thinking about KizunaBlade post for quite a while to find some words, hit refresh, and just read you bashing drunk players in general and thought: "that's all you have to say about those asshats?".
Pardon me.

Honestly, I've seen some people play "better" when drunk. But yes I've been that healer too examing the loot in KoTL early-on and the tank just trying to hurry up on the next pull. I'm sprinting my way to keep them topped-off. But realistically a tank should know they shouldn't be pulling without the party near. :/

Yep, pretty much a competent alliance can just have the other healer mostly DPS.

We we would do a cross-FC premade alliance for WoD almost weekly and go with 1 tank/1 healer/6 dps in each party. Totally fun when everyone knows what to do.

A thing about the first boss, tho. The location of the party members equates as important as the Tank's position. Keep yourselves stacked to one side and kicking all bombs to the other one, that way any AoEs oriented to the non-tank party members wont involve hitting the bombs.

Hmm, I might try the Mog/Levi/Ramuh route on my main char/WHM (.....though I might just MNK through Levi since I already have problems reacting to the body slams... less stress on the party if a monk goes overboard, than a healer :/ ). Mog EX didn't seem too bad, at all, also (haven't cleared yet, just couldn't kill him before he blows us up when he no longer revives his moogles).

I'm pretty sure they were in the same-ish spots as the video (Mr Happy) had so it was more than likely my bads. x_x (east/westish opposite ends)... though, my monitor is small, so I sometimes got pulse smacked by an offscreen healer after a knockback o_o (from Ifrit's rear) so it's possibly they were more southwest than west-west? o.Oa /shrug
Eitherway, I done fails on a few things... xD; (didn't take into account the healers positionings during nails, etc ._. the fight was all one big clusterf* whizzing by for me x_x)

This is the easiest way to do it. Stack little bombs together and purposely ge a few hit/ It will clear them so they can't explode the large bombs which you want to avoid. A competent Tank will understand what you are doing and direct attacks to the bomb pile. Making all the bombs explode is a rookie mistake.

I've not actually seen what Mrhappy did for his guide but the way i was taught onmy first run was the two Healers just swap places for the debuff change on the west side that way everyone always knows where it is. The DPS want to start killing nails clockwise from Ifrit so the east side should be clear until it's nails have been killed this roughly takes about the same time as one debuff cycle for most groups so the next Healer will move to the east side just cleared then after that Ifrit will do his ultimate then debuffed Healer back to west side swap. Rinse and repeat. It avoids so many problems with DPS running around and having to always watch which Healer with the debuff is standing where.

It's simple lack of experience and knowledge so she can't carry a careless group which is what you will find a lot of in DF. When you get kicked from groups or told you are crap whatever else i always thing you should ringfence that feeling you get and remember it. It's a good driving force for learning to get better at your class. It's not nice to be put down but i just think that one day I'm going to prove people wrong who told me i was useless.

I had a brutal tank earlier, I typically laze around in AK Hard Mode, my fairy heals most of it for me, and I DPS as a Scholar. Except, this time I had to spam heals on this Warrior constantly. He wasn't using anything to keep himself alive, no Inner Beast, no Foresight, he used his Thrill of Battle once, when he was already at full health and at the end of a pull. He had dexterity accessories, He couldn't hold aggro, and he used Flash more then Overpower. We get to the first boss, and we wipe. I died first, my fault I didn't dodge behind the pillars and wasn't overly paying attention. He then dropped a few seconds after, and his only comment was "Really?", I apologized as our Dragoon and Bard tried to finish it, but died. I apologized for not getting out of the way and we all ran back.

I'm in Skype with the Bard, and she giggles because he tried to kick me from the first boss. The Dragoon then says in chat "I don't think that's a reason to kick someone". The Tank then loses it, saying if you can't heal you shouldn't play a healer, if you can't dodge a simple mechanic you shouldn't be playing video games. Goes on about how the game isn't hard and he does this all the time, so the random Dragoon steps in and asks him if he bought his account. Tank asks why, and the Dragoon goes on to explain to him that he shouldn't be tanking trash constantly like he was, the Scholar shouldn't be spamming the party with heals the entire time because enemies are everywhere, that he's wearing dexterity accessories, and he can't hold threat at all unless the Dragoon stops doing anything after a rotation and that he didn't move out of the Debuff Beam on the first boss either, making it even harder on the healer. The tank then proceeded to call us all scrubs and left.

Now, I haven't had someone come out and try and blame me for something since Pharos Sirius first came out. But the last month or so, I've seen a lot of bad players blaming others for dumb reasons, like the tank not using cooldowns, mass pulling and dying, and it's magically the healers fault. Or a tank who repeatedly spins the boss around getting everyone hit by breaths and cleaves. I'm actually a little concerned about the tanks in Heavensward now, as I'm sure a lot of this is because people want to play Dark Knight.

Same, but I've had plenty of DF tanks that come in saying they're drunk somewhere down the lines or that they 'need another hit' and do fine. I wouldn't have known the difference if they didn't say anything. I don't always notice that they're acting out of the ordinary, other than losing an ADD or two (but even then, that's not horrible) here and there.
But I wouldn't know... - never been drunk (or high or whatever they're doing), so I don't think it's always going to be bad. Last drunk tank I had was pretty easy going and not doing anything crazy, so I didn't really mind.
I can't even stand the smell of alcohol (it all smells like taking a super strong whiff of permanent marker, up close to the nose... and the taste is like what it smells. People think I'm crazy to compare it to a permanent marker, but that's what I think of when I smell alcohol o_O... /shrug) and I can't stand things that alter a person's thinking/clarity. Only alcohol I'll tolerate, taste-wise, is a bit of Guinness or some Irish coffee (till it all settles at the bottom and nowhere to dilute it...) and even then that's rare.

Yeah, sorry about generalizing drunk players. It's just that I've had exactly the opposite experience as you guys. Every player who I've known was drunk was always a detriment to the team. Like, I had a ninja a few days ago in KotL and he was dying 2+ times on every boss. I found out after we wiped on the final boss that he was drunk and needed to go grab a new drink. The BLM was not amused lol.

@Cariborne: That kind of reminds me of a run a did of Qarn HM a while back (I posted about it a few months ago) where I was blamed for us wiping. It was a bit different (everyone blames me so I had no one to defend me :( ) but those kinds of runs kind of hurt my motivation to play at times. And I've also noticed a bunch of issues with tanks lately. Not all of them, just some... Like a tank I had in WoD earlier today who let the entire raid wipe because he refused to MT after the original MT died (he had pulled hate from Cloud of Darkness so the 3rd tank never had a chance to prepare to MT).

Not really a "horror story" but just more...annoyed? I don't know.
I was SCH and the other healer was WHM in World of Darkness. Second trash pull and the WHM tells me to get out of CS. I'm like, fine okay, if you want to DPS just let me know and I can just heal then, I don't care. I get bored really quick when just standing there so. Time for a nap.

During Cloud of Darkness we were having a bit of trouble so I get out of CS to heal since we're all dying some more. I take over on main tank healing so the WHM can focus on the party. I notice the WHM cast a single non-CS Aero II and then just. Stand there. Nothing.
After we wipe I went back to DPSing on the healing downtime because uuugh. (we passed that one).

Like, I'm not sure if the WHM knew I could mainly heal with my fairy and didn't really....need... to be out of CS all the time. Especially since I've run WOD over and over and over (give me the heal chest omfg) and I know when big damage is going to hit.

I did a noob dungeon as SCH for relic, was almost dismissed because the tank wanted me to get off cleric stance.
I did WoD, got lots of complaints about using Selene.
I did T10 and T11 hoping for farm shit for my caster, already having all 6 healer items from them. Of course I see those 6 items drop over and over again and still no buttwings.
Still no WHM Cane from T13.
Overall it's been a shitty week.

I know that one. One time a guy started emoting at me "looks at you in disgust" and so on because I was in CS...
Same situation in dungeons where you have only 1 X-Skill and I select CS over Protect... that awkward feeling when they're waiting for protect but "sry got CS instead of protect :P"

If people play well i don't even care if they have been drinking or not XD. I don't drink,smoke or use drugs but I'm not going to look down on somebody that does it's a personal choice for me and my own lifestyle that doesn't mean I have the right to push it on others. Had plenty in runs who have been drinking or smoking drugs and if they turn up and do their part I'll have nothing to say to them. In game matters in this case not who they are in the real world.

Drunk bards kiting T-7 pre nerf. Apparently this was an epidemic on my server.

That's basically what I'm saying ^^;
I personally don't like all that stuff, but I don't really care as long as it's not throwing everything to hell or the person isn't being crude or rude to the rest of the party.
An old guild leader back when I played Ragnarok Online (the first one... second one kinda sucked) used to level his GC Sader while high. Fun times, having me FS while he's leading the two of us around the same rock five times and not even noticing... rofl. Wasn't a fan of his habit, but he was harmless.

and I didn't have to smell anything from my side of the computer.
