Thank you for these charts. They are really helpful for me.
FC Housing - OVERPRICED - please fix!
After thinking about the housing, the more I think, the more I want my moghouse and mog keeper back
http://zl22.files.wordpress.com/2009...D500%26h%3D373
SE updated its schedule of price reductions last night.
Small housing, all worlds:
SE changed the first cut of small housing plot price from a big drop of 25% tomorrow, to five weekly drops of 5% of original price. They didn't mention a change to the final drop to 50% of original pricing previously planned for late February.
The 25% drop actually happened as announced. The five weekly drops of 5% were for the 2nd half of the 50% drop. Apologies for misreading this.
Legacy world housing:
Group B (NA data center Legacy worlds) pricing will reach parity with Group A (most expensive new world pricing) on January 30 ~7pm PST. The price of cheapest S/M/L should be just over 5M/22M/74M at that time on those worlds.
Group C (JP data center Legacy worlds) pricing will reach parity with Group A & B on February 13. All 3 groups' pricing should be just over 4M/20M/67M for cheapest S/M/L plots, assuming no other price changes by SE before then.
It's on The Lodestone. The first few are in the news list. Click "Notices" to see older ones.
id like to see some stats on how many houses were bought since their arrival , how much gil has been spent overall etc.
The game is too controlled for my enjoyment anymore. With the way things are now, gil wise, it'll take a year maybe two for the average FC to afford a house. Do most FCs even last that long? Nope. Well play'd SE... keep those hamsters on the wheel and those subscriptions flowing.
There are many Free Companies on my server with houses. I think there are 13 houses as of now. Three of which are "Mansions". If your Free Company has less than 20 people it isn't really a Free Company its more of a group that really needs to be a linkshell. You may not even be Rank 6 if you are new enough meaning you can't even buy it if you had the gil. I think prices are fine and they are still falling until February. You had to have actually planned for the house but that is the way it should be anyway. Also remember, this isn't personal housing. That will be coming later. Prices for Free Company Housing are appropriate in my opinion.
Nope, the other guy just posted wrong information.
The 25% price drop already happened as anyone that actually checks house pricing can see for themselves. The rest of the 25% decrease in pricing is what's happening gradually.
See, this is what happens when you're quick to throwing out bile. You end up looking like an idiot.
Dude, you're not even on a Legacy server. In fact, your server has the same prices as Phoenix where I am and I alone have enough gil to buy an S sized house of my choosing (hell, 2 other guys in my FC also have enough gil to buy an S plot of land).
Housing prices should be lower, but let's not pretend that it's hard to get the Small house. A year or two is ridiculous.
EDIT: And just to clarify something. I'm not a level 50 crafter that got rich when the game was launched. I have hoarded enough gil to buy a S plot after 2.1 launched.
Then please share what you're doing right, and what many of us are doing wrong.
Good for you and your FC, 30 truly "active" players is a lot for an FC on my server. To get that many active players you need to recruit a lot of people, but then the FC start to become just this mass of people that just share a chat channel. Not all FC's out there should feel obligated to have a mass of people just to enjoy a house with a bunch of people they barely know.
EDIT: Btw, just for clairification, I'm referring to housing to include the land plot.
I craft stuff to sell on the AH, I do my leves every day (only have access to level 35 leves, so only around 3k per day from this) and I try to do Treasure Hunting as often as possible with my FC (a group of 8 people doing 8 peiste maps generates 100k gil guaranteed, with the possibility of more if the chest drops 5k gil each instead of 1600ish).
I can't even do the daily beastmen quests yet.
The game has plenty of ways for people to make money, they just have to actually put some effort into it instead of waiting for it to drop on their laps.
We just bought a Medium sized house on Balmung, it's pretty sweet. It took a lot of crafting and grinding but it was obtained quicker than we thought. It is do-able, our FC only has 12 members to it and we managed. Reading the comments on the small sized houses, I completely agree. They are tiny, they aren't worth 1/10 of the money people paid for them.
That's me. I did just check and yes, SE did drop the small plot prices 25% on January 23. The follow-up post with the 5% weekly drop schedule was for the second 25% drops for small plots to bring the prices to a total of 50% off initial pricing. Currently small plot prices are at ~30% discount across all worlds. Apologies for not catching that.
FWIW SE just announced an additional floor (downstairs) will be added to small houses, either in patch 2.2 or soon after. So they're more valuable now than before. And at twice the size, half the original price (late Feb), and time listed devaluation, that's like (*does weird math*) pretty much worth the money paid for them. :) At least in comparison to the other house sizes and prices.
The bottom floor I believe is reserved for airship building, so I don't know if it will actually improve the size of the living space. Would be nice I know a lot of people who dropped a good amount of coin only to be disappointed with the size of their small house. To me the small house would be the size of personal housing.
The floor they showed here on Saturday's Producer Letter LIVE XII should be for living space, and the underground airship hangar or whatever should be a different below-ground area. (Besides, an airship wouldn't fit in the space they showed Saturday.)
lets get back to the topic shall we ? please continue complaining about how expensive dat house is :D
Your 10 mil should have been able to buy a medium house in December. I'm still really confused about what is taking so long. FC housing prices should be dropped like a rock - what is all this decreasing over months strategy about? Its killed the economy. I've yet to hear a clear reasonable answer from SE. Very frustrating.
I've yet to hear a clear reasonable answer for why the economy is dead.
The economy has been working well for me on Phoenix at least. Maybe things are different on Legacy servers, but if that's true, the problem stems from players having been allowed to bring their gil and equipment from 1.0. Sometimes I think people only consider the economy alive when they can synth one item and then sell it for millions.
Houses prices should be cheaper, but people need to stop making up BS arguments as to why prices should drop.
It has been over a full month since the release of Housing.
Currently each ward in each city is occupied by a staggering number of 1-7 houses.
First ward of the Limsa housing development is occupied by a full THREE houses by the same Free Company (One large, two medium.) Many of you might be wondering.. that isnt even possible, ah but it is.
"LGCY" FC requires its players to have alternate characters, with these characters they have formed subsidiary FC's in which they use these FC's to buy additional plots.
Clearly the gil in which Yoshida is using to balance the housing is massively hoarded by a small number of players on legacy servers.
AKA, RMT, or people who use exploits/cheats or are simply greedy.
My FC sits at about 60+ active members and our FC bank isnt even capable of buying a medium house, and with that many active players it is absurd to think we should buy a small or even medium house.
Simply re stated:
Housing is drastically over priced, the economy is horribly imbalanced, and there is nearly no way to obtain gil via NPC (aka generate new gil.)
Please look into this issue more closely.
Thank you.
On Odin we have only 1 fc 16 players that own a large house and 5 fcs that own small and mediums. My FC we have about 28 mil in the bank and at this rate its not going well towards a large as we a 178 man fc.
When affordable personal housing comes out this game and economy will revive again. But that is a long ways away. Look forward to it.
When they lowered small housing prices by a 50%, I think that they said that they woud evaluate if they shoud lower prices again at the end of february if.
Or I'm mistaken and it's a dream and not a memory? :D
Anyway, any news regarding to this? The state of housing in the game is pretty sad.
BRA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HAHAHAAHHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHA. Personal housing will just be another vehicle to keep the economy deflated and designed on the scheme of ingame vendor/npc economies like single player games. WHY: that is the question. Some grand design experiment by SE...after all they wanted to be 'accessible' to allllll the players. Stop thinking the economy (*woes in many players minds) is the way it is by happenstance. This is a credible corporation which has access to huge amounts of data on what makes them real money in the real world.
Its how it is because the suits want it this way. Find a method to enjoy it, or leave as soon as you find an mmo which provides you with more for your entertainment money. Suggestions on the forums is NOT going to suddenly make them go "AH....what a great idea. We'd never looked at it in that light. Thanks so much. We'll get right on it. *Look Forward To It"...
Please.
Necro thread cause we trusted the Producer.
Right, cause complaining when a representative says they'll do one thing yet does something else is being a baby. Your attitude or more of being a push-over.
"Stubborn people learn from mistakes, smart people learn from history".
SE isnt learning lol.
White Knights are getting dressed up for battle!!!
Prepare yourselfs.
Yoshi had that form letter response pretyped and ready to go because he knew before hand that this was a total failure. He's already back at the cafe eating his breakfast and not giving two shits, on our dime. Typical corporate uncreative bullshit crap. Go get back on your company jet and do some more glad handind and baby kissing at the next gameshow you have on your list and steal more money from people for something you have always known is inept trash.
If you really feel this strongly about the personal housing, why even put yourself through the stress? Walk away and be done with it. It's just a game. No one is forcing to you pay for your sub. No one is forcing you to buy a personal house within the game, either. Being that upset over something so minor is unhealthy.
So I'd like to know; how is it that Yoshi can't speak a lick of english, yet in less than an hour he can digest everything being said on these forums (in english), and respond (in english) with a two page letter that is properly formatted, well thought out, and in perfectly fluent ENGLISH!? IN LESS THAN ONE HOUR?!
That response is to the FC Housing Price uproar - from about 9 months ago.
He's had about 9 months to change his statement:
And he never said anything different - but the patch notes for 2.38 are precisely 180 degrees from this statement. Obviously there is a disconnect or a lack of transparency - the Live Letter sessions aren't keeping the community in-tune with their plans.

Could have fooled me.
