This is the other problem that seems to gloss over people's heads. It's not Blue Mage. It's Limited Jobs in general. This is a worrying trend to accept now because Blue Mage may get its own focus of content now, but what about when Beastmaster comes in.

Any other job that would be too nonconventional to be part of the main game? Suddenly Blue Mage stops seeing content made to justify its existence because now content has to be made for the other jobs to justify its existence. Every job that gets put into Limited category that requires its own facet of the game to keep it from being Gold Saucer but with Combat means more development work, and this means something suffers for it, because odds are they aren't going to greatly expand their team to accommodate 3-4 limited jobs getting something substantial every patch.

The Masked Carnivale is the only source of content to do until new skills are added, but when additions to it become bipatchly, tripatchly, or once per expansion memes, you're going to run out of things to do once you collect your skills, and fast.

When Limited Jobs have to share the developers making content for them, -they all suffer-, where as full fledged Standard jobs with -unique- leveling processes, you make a different path to the same gameloop that's kept the game going. You lose nothing in this philosophy of all paths converging to one.

1, The Developer are Say Don't worry Focus on getting your Spells (don't worry about feeling Rushed, Don't Worry about MSQ and Don't worry you have plenty of time)
2, The Next part of MSQ is in March and New EXP is in 6 months but you Blue Mages have 9 months to get clear up to Level 50 and get your 49 spells Plenty of Time) can't wait for all the blue Babies
3, Have fun at the Carval.

My whole point is play it after it comes out and then you can knit pick at it.

I'm not trying to be confrontational and I'm not directing the anger to anyone specific it is generalized frustrations and arguments. I am trying to understand where the devs are coming from and support their ideas instead of being negative of what the class can and cannot do. I don't know how else or how many times I can say it: trying the job DOES NOT MATTER.

Imagine you're hunting for a real job in the real world to make money. Someone tells you that you can work for me. You'll have to work 80 hours a week for half the pay you're getting now. I am able to know, WITHOUT TRYING IT, that I don't want that job. Because I've had jobs in the past. I have a job now. I am able to discern, based on past experiences, what I want and what I don't want.

It's not tasting vegetables AT ALL. You can't know what a carrot tastes like until you try one. You can absolutely know a sh*tty job that you don't want when you're offered one, though.

If it was just about the design of the job, how it played from moment to moment in combat, that would be one thing. But it's not. It's the concept of a job that can't participate in the DF or current expansions that I hate. There's no "try it and see" about that. Whatsoever.

I wish I could like this post five million times. THIS is the point of pride as a Blue Mage, that maybe you haven't achieved some overpowered broken status, but you know you're bringing something somewhat unique to a party because you went and put in the work beforehand. It does take extra work. So what? Right now, they cut that extremely vital second half of Blue Mage being able to apply their hard work to a party setting completely out because of...well, who knows anymore at this point.
Yoshi P in an interview said that a little baby Blue Mage would have to go out and hunt their AoE skill when Black Mages and other classes get things like Fire II for free around Tam-Tara time. EXACTLY. That's why not many people play Blue Mages or use Blue Magic in games, but that's what makes the Blue Mage very proud of their job.

I meant, you know, in games not called Final Fantasy XIV.

One thing that has been made abundantly clear as I've read this discussion over the past two months; people are so desperate for something new and unique that when something fresh does come around they will willingly accept any and all drawbacks associated with it even if those drawbacks are completely unnecessary.

That's honestly the part that upsets me the most about all of this.

As a fully function job, nothing would stops you from continuing to play Blue Mage within a "limited" environment (collecting spells, playing Masked Carnival, avoiding raids, etc.) if that's what you choose to do. All that would change is that those who enjoy other content would be allowed to bring Blue Mage into that content.

That's it. That's all the "anti-limited" crowd wants. The only thing that has to change in order for that to happen is people's mentality.

Heres the thing though, your post implies that the "anti-limited" crowd is providing constructive feedback that may improve what could be an enjoyable experience. That's not what is happening though, what is happening is more akin to "WTF sqaure, I want to main BLU, your new content sucks". Thats not constructive, and does disservice to what the content actually is.

Are there problems? yes. But both sides can't seem to grasp the reality of the situation. We don't know anything about how successful the content will be, and we need to wait to see how it works and performs within the game before we can make any kind of final judgment or complaint, both good or bad. Speculation and skepticism is absolutely fine, but that's not what is happening.

I disagree, past some general anger and frustration and some more vocal rage on both sides, I do see quite a bit of options presented to work towards future compromise. I do agree that it's important to let Blue Mage release first and get a better understanding of the facts. It's my hope that after a period of figuring out just what is realistic based on what we've been given, both "sides" might review and present a unified front of suggestions to the dev team going forward, satisfying more of a majority than this initial launch. Is that a notion you'd agree to at least entertaining?

That's oversimplifying the situation. Time and time again people make what they want known crystal clear. Most people pushing for Blue Mage to have access to more things aren't saying they hate Blue Mage as a whole-they want it to improve and be what it should instead of a ghost of its original self.
