Apparently the problem is gone on JP and EU datacenters so why are NA still fucked?
I've been trying to get into this instance since yesterday morning. Took a break midday for work and resumed later last night while streaming. Had to end stream early because we literally couldn't get past this point. Got Q'd in last night (at long last!) and the instance crashed, booting me from the server, locking me out of my account, and then making it impossible to re-enter for about 20 minutes. Worst part- my FC members in game said that I was showing as actually being in the duty even when I couldn't get back into the game! Cruel fate.
The saga continued this morning. Woke up early, saw the announcement that they'd increased the cap of these instances...and still couldn't get in.
I absolutely understand that there are bugs to work out, but this has been a serious problem. While funny for awhile, and memorable, something needs to be done to provide an alternative to allow people through consistently. A release generates the momentum and hype that will draw people into purchasing if they haven't so far. Negative press of this scope, immediately after opening the doors, leads to hesitant buyers and loss of subscriptions.
Hope it gets fixed soon! Until then, may the god Raubahn look kindly on our souls.
Everyone on the Dev team apparently went on vacation already to celebrate their great work this expansion. :(
Likewise.
That the situation has - apparently been resolved on the JP and EU datacentres is great. Now, hopefully it can be resolved over on the NA datacentres very soon as well.
I suspect that a large part of the problem is the sheer player bloat on Gilgamesh and Balmung where Aether is concerned.
I actually really like instance duties ( I prefer 'em to dungeons most of the time, because I get a tad anxious playing in groups for some reason ^^; ), but I just want to advance in the story as well and explore all the places!
Sadly, I don't know how servers (and FFXIV's particular servers) work so I can't suggest anything "better." orz I'm not too terribly keen on skipping these instances but I'm not keen on being stuck either. I also kind of doubt any of these suggestions would be taken into consideration, but I'll try not to be the debby downer. D:
