the new trial is too hard

This trial is very well designed IMO. Considering we're dealing with dragons and Ishgardians, cannons make a fitting staple in this trial. After all, they've been involved in both Stone Vigils so far. And the fight is also such that high level gear doesn't trivialize the encounter, current difficulty is right on target as the last official battle of the 'A Realm Reborn' main story. Joining a blind party in the PF, my group took 1 attempt longer than a full lockout to down this, so groups with even 1 or 2 veterans should have little difficulty finishing the trial in 1 go.

It's not that hard.... Got through it after a single wipe in one DF attempt on my first time in. And that was with one tank in the first wipe (second tank proceeded to afk as soon as they got in, so they were kicked).
FC mate that was in first day got it done within a second DF attempt.

It has more to do with positioning the canons blasts/ADDs and knowing when to use the towers, etc than being 'too hard'..... and having enough DPS before he reaches the gate (which is what killed us the first time).
Coordination and awareness of surroundings.
Granted, I had a good party that weren't asshats in chat, but still >_>

I'm a really bad combatant. I cannot think on my feet, get out of most AoE's, etc. Crafting and gathering and other turn based, think in your own time-y things, that's what I enjoy. Even so, I was able to complete this fight. First time was via DF and it went horribly... Like really, REALLY bad. I was scared I'd hit my wall of content I couldn't get past and never see the rest of the story outside YouTube.

I walked away from the computer for a couple of hours and then came back and decided to give it another go. There was a half full PF group already up so I joined them. I stayed away from the cannons (because I can't aim or time worth a damn) and I just healed the tank and anyone else who got underfoot. We wiped but it wasn't a bad wipe. We wiped 3 times, none of them were aggro filled nightmares the DF had made this fight out to be.

In the end we won.

I can assure you that if I could get through a boss fight without being carried (as my FC does for me through most primal battles), actually doing my job, actually succeeding, then ANYONE can. I swear I suck ._. But we did it!


TL;DR: PF it guys, seriously. It makes all the difference in the world! If there isn't one up, make one.

Wait.. Too hard? We wiped twice but then realized what we had to do, and beat it. Just takes time, and have people willing to help.

Seriously though, dragonslayer needs to hit. At least 2. I did it once with 2 shots and we just burned it down.

Its not hard. Its just different. I've cleared it a couple of times now and as long as at least three people know the mechanics and the rest can keep the adds under control and do some decent damage to the boss, he is quite killable.

The thing about this fight is its outside the box for what we are used to. It requires people to learn a new way of doing an encounter. This is a good thing as it allows for more dynamic and varied encounters in the future. Once people adapt how they perceive encounters you will see groups adapting far quicker.

It already got figured out, that you can down him before he reaches the las set of canons when using all stuff in the area without issues. Its not needed to deal any damage directly.

Not exactly true.

I was in a DF party a few days ago that got the dragon to only 57% at the end of the bridge. That was after 3 slayers (that hit), a Melee LB3 and a Melee LB1.

I am still trying to figure out what happened there.

in that type of situation only thing could be the issue is dps wasnt focusing boss and was on adds instead. was dynamite at end destroyed by adds? if so then that could be another reason boss didnt lose that much health. other then that cant figure out the issue unless cannons wasnt used correctly

Cannons probably were not hitting the boss. Aiming at his feet and firing non-stop will down him with room to spare alongside the shackles / dragonkiller. The mobs are really just a distraction, let them die by the cannons aoe if the tank gets them within it, never ever focus on the mobs.
