Data Centers/World Locations Info from the LIVE Letter

Currently EU players face hellish lag connecting to the JP servers. At the end of the day though, it boils down to lag and playability.

My hope is that the lag from EU> NA, NA > JP, and any permutation you can think of is less than it is today. The only exception would be JP > NA or EU servers, since they've had a natural benefit of low pings (although if the 25th talk show is any indication, they get the lag problems on things like ifrit too). If that's the case, then this is just a matter of coordinating your ls (and future grand companies) on which server to select come ARR.

Japanese players have the best parties. I had such an awesome time playing with them on FFXI :(

Denial is a hell of a drug.

This is incredibly upsetting. The spirit behind Final Fantasy Online is uniting players all over the world to participate in cross-cultural gaming experiences. I've met awesome online companions from all over the world through FFXI and FFXIV and this course of action is basically spitting on those experiences. Link the regional data centers so that they are still worldwide! I don't want to have to choose between a low-lag experience and one of the best things about the online Final Fantasy titles.

I don't get the whining. So you play with an all JP linkshell or something? Stay with that group and joing a JP server. Linkshell is mixed? Make a group decision. Or do you just like saying "kawaii" things in chat and love that you can pretend to be Japanese?

I'm still confused or am I being dumb w.

Will each world have a JP/NA/EU data server or lets say 3 EU 3 JP 3 NA?

Obviously people will choose a server in their region, there for splitting people up.

I'm obviously going to be sad panda because I have made some true NA friends over the years but in the long run it would probably be the best for me, I have had enough of playing through the night end-game lol.
