The great streamer Asmongold is joining FFXIV

I don't know this Asmongold guy at all but went to watch all his FFXIV-related reaction videos in response to this thread and the apparent controversy going on. I don't know that he said he's coming to stay, but he's definitely going to try the game out. Bit sad, though, that a streamer can't just try a game out without people losing their nerves over it and instantly debasing themselves to make generic cringy accusations. Have these guys even watched him entertain the potential FFXIV has? He watched a Zepla HQ video, reprimanded his chat for offensive language, and then even greeted Zepla as she joined his chat to watch him watch her videos. For those who don't know what a big Twitch chat is like, that's basically all of them, unless you turn emotes-only chat on.

I heavily doubt it will dilute FFXIV's stellar friendly, open, inclusive community. Anyone doing Crystal Tower more than once a week already knows that the friendliness of the FFXIV community is definitely overstated, or if they spend any amount of time in this thread :P I realize I'm not bein the most friendly in my observations myself, it's just kinda disturbing to see the sort of stuff people write about some random influencer online and that apparently no one from the "rivaling" game can try out the other without starting a culture war xD

I really don’t care what Asmongold does, but his fans are annoying and toxic and I really hope that he doesn’t play anywhere on my data center. I feel bad for the people who do play on the data center that he ends up on. If we’re lucky, he’ll quit and go back to WoW.

Yeah, no. His fans and “community” ruined the classic WoW server that they were on. You couldn’t pay me to play anywhere that he was playing. I’m sorry if you’re an Asmongold fan, but the rest of the gaming community finds his community to be insufferable.

What did they do?

Didn't know you were a representative of the entirety of the gaming community. That's pretty outstanding.

"don't come to MY datacenter!" or what?

You don't have to be named to feel welcomed or appreciated as a player in FFXIV, whether you come from WoW or any other game. I watched many WoW streamers lately, playing FFXIV having a breath of fresh air and it's exciting to watch them enjoying it too. If they don't enjoy it then that's fine too, but do what makes you happy and move along simple as that. Leave the bitterness somewhere else.

Honestly the best take, it shouldn't matter who you are if you just want to try out the game. This is what Asmongold wants too, everyone paying attention to him trying out the game is so sensationalist for no reason xD "We have to keep the malding to a minimum. You’re entitled to your opinion,however a comment like this is extremely unnecessary and bigoted. You aren’t some ff14 princess. He’s entitled to enjoy this game as much as anyone else. Saying “if we’re lucky he’ll go back and quit” is such a childish stance. That’s what we call gatekeeping and it’s disgusting. I hope he stays, and if that bugs you, you can go ahead and quit then. Probably for the best considering this attitude you seem to have toward the situation. Please re-evaluate.
