They hit AST with a nerf stick so hard I'm surprised the job is even allowed to make it to 80. Out of the three healers, AST is the only one I have to be careful with pulls with. I could pull all of Norvrandt and WHM/SCH could keep me alive without even paying attention. I get sneezed at and an AST has to blow four mana bars. I hate what they did to AST.... :mad:

Case in point.

AST at 80 is a walking heal factory with like 87 regens, if the tank dies in 80 dungeons big pulling it's because someone is bad, be it the tank, the AST or the DPS.

AST has Regens rivaling WHM and actually heals a bit more when apply them. Some of the things that suck about them are the gimped card system, of course, and Lightspeed cutting MP costs in half as their tool, as opposed to Aetherflow generating MP and Thin Air just outright ignoring it. You need to be more deliberate with your casts, but they are perfectly capable. I can't say anything about their Nocturnal Sect though ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

AST can heal just fine now (unlike pre-5.05, where it was in a far worse state). The card system is awful, but healing isn’t a problem for the job anymore.

It's just that Gravity has no stun. That 7s total stun WHM has, makes a world of difference.

I suppose before 78 there is the issue of ED being the only instant direct heal, while WHM has 858450485 of them.

(Never played SCH so can't comment on its tools)

Gravity has never had a stun and Astro has gotten along just fine without it from the beginning. The only stun they had was on Celestial Opposition and that was on a cooldown.

This is what I do as a tank all the time. I just roll with it and if it works, it works. And if it doesn't, it doesn't. I don't yell, I don't scream, I don't blame nobody. I just shrug it off and march on. I might try another pull but if it don't work, small pulls it is.

I cannot think of any other reason then. I played WHM the entire time it's been out, and I personally know without it, things would be very different.

AST heals are not weak, it is not difficult to compare their heals vs WHMs, it is around the same. Therefore I'm not a believer that the issue of trouble healing large pulls lies entirely with AST.

Also Lucid + Lightspeed nullifies any thought of mp burning, so there are other factors, besides Noct Sect's Aspected Benefic, that is straining AST's mp.

AST is fine, if you are hitting your cooldowns correctly while avoiding damage, they can heal you just fine in massive pulls. If your playing paladin you can heal the party too from time to time should the healer find trouble.

Just saying if I ever found myself in a position where I needed a pld to spot heal in a dungeon I would just stop healing because at that point it means I am washed up and suck.
