Fair enough. I imagine that should they be rather restrictive about it that they would probably open up a short, and I do emphasize short, window where players can transfer their characters for free. While I do hope SE does not do this, you are absolutely right in that it is a very real possibility that they may charge to do so, or they may simply transfer excess players without any warning. I am hoping that this does not come to pass, as many people will be extremely upset, including myself.
Idk what you guys are complaining about. I mean, I love error 1017. We've become friends. So much to the point that I'm going to name my kid error 1017. I think we should all just stop posting so much negative commentary about 1017. He's just doing his job. It's not his fault that out of all the errors he's the one getting blamed for it.

Current Known Issues (Aug. 27)
As of August 27, 2013, the following issues have been confirmed in FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn.
- Monsters do not appear during instanced quest battles, preventing progression in the quest.
* This issue is scheduled to be addressed this week.
- The following quests cannot be completed if a player’s inventory is full.

Double Dragoon
* This issue is scheduled to be addressed this week.
- If an artifact quest is completed with the artifact stored outside of the inventory on a character that was transferred from the Beta test or Early Access, the character may end up with 2 artifacts.
* We are planning on addressing the above situation by removing the duplicate item.

Not only was I not able to log on most of the early access because of damn server issues, now that I bought the game I still can log on!! This is ridiculous!! How do you expect people to want to pay for 3months (or 1 month at that) if they can even play this damn game! With all of these server issues the game should be FREE until you figure something out Square Enix!!!
Hey, I know what it's like to have angry customers yelling in your face when there is absolutely nothing you can do to help them. It sucks. Still, you've gotta do something - they're CUSTOMERS. This is one of the only subscription mmo's on the market, in addition to the initial cost of the game- high.
SE said they won't be able to fix the problem until next week. If nothing is changed soon, by next week they will have lost a lot of money. SE says they fear widening population limits will crash the server. As a buisness, SE should be thinking of other ways to help alleviate this problem that aren't widening caps. I'm unable to understand how server queues, afk kick, and free server migration would interfere with population control. If this is the case, I really would appreciate SE letting me know why they are not thing up alternative solutions to the problem, or at least offering compensation.
You won't lose my business because the game is great, but you're definitely going to lose people, SE. I love the game. Just please. Throw us a bone.
I'd love to know why this isn't resolved already... How can you not expect this to happen on launch and not raise server caps or boot AFK players... What am I paying for? I've been trying to log in for almost 3 hours now and I keep getting that sassy message.
I cant log into any of my characters due to this error.... NONE of them....what am i supposed to do, remake a new character every night to play?? this is totally awesome, due to the amount of people who want to play, but also TOTALLY sucks that i cannot play my toons i have leveled already.. if a toon is a on a server it should be allowed on.....

Im just going to make another Character on a Japanese Server. No Worries here.
Why isn't there any NA Community Manager(s) to atleast post in here.. All we've gotten since the start of Early Access are "Login Restrictions Implemented" message 40 times on twitter, "Server difficulties" acknowledging there is a problem.. Then they mention upgrading the JP data center........... I hope this was a typo or so help me god I will be writing so many angry emails to square.. /angryface
I understand the work the dev team put in to re-make the game to what it is now.. It's truly a shame to see how this is affecting such a large population of players and resulting in bad publicity for FFXIV..
All we want is one little mention of fixing the server queue system.. Can you do that square?.. Can you, PLEASE FIX THE QUEUE..
Best you can do is wait it out if you are getting Error 1017. I'm sure it will lighten up by nightfall.

Maaaan after trying to get in all fkn day, I was able to get a queue. 58 ppl ahead of me. Then 15 seconds later I get an error message on top. So fkd up.
I can only echo what's already been stated before, but we really do need to kick every AFK player after a certain time and we need the queue implemented. I have books I could read, TV shows I could watch on my laptop while I wait, all sorts of things I COULD be doing while I wait to get into the game. Unfortunately, having to button mash makes those other options nearly impossible to enjoy. I'll be happy Even if the only temporary solution is to implement a solid working queue, even if I have to wait an hour or two to get in. At least then I can see where I am in the queue, walk away and still know that when my turn comes it'll happen.
I'm just so disappointed with how the NA/EU servers have been handled thus far. I really do think we deserved better than this. I realize that folks have apologized and Yoshida genuinely looked remorseful in that interview, but with the lack of communication the pain of not getting to play is just compounded by feeling like we're all in the dark.
We all know that we keep asking for queues. We keep asking for AFK timers. Well after going back over the User Agreement we all had to sign. Wouldn't not log in out be considered an exploit under the current conditions? And as such it should fall under;
2.1 Cheatingand Botting. You may not create or use any unauthorized cheats,bots, automation software, hacks, mods or any other unauthorized software orhardware designed to modify the Game and gameplay. In addition, you may nottake advantage of game system bugs and exploits during gameplay.

3.2 Disruption. You may not in any way disrupt or interfere with the Game experience of otherplayers, including the disruption of Square Enix’s computers and servers.
Now I'm not trying to be a dick but we all signed this agreement and as such I expected it to be honored which includes these activities falling under these guidelines and it is SE responsibility to fix this. And I mean real quick.
i remember when squaresoft made games that would blow your mind, but now...... lightening wtf was that about? i couldnt bring myself to finish ffxiii. i was lost in the plot line and the protagonist wasn't compelling to me. not like squall, or cloud , or bartz, or terra, or vaan, or even zidane and tidus.
I dont know man. Sometimes i feel that the NA/ EU players get no love from the Japanese. Its like their players are more important to them than we are. Im a paying customer just like everyone else. I never actually canceled my Subscription during 1.0. Im still missing my Goubbie Mount, and my Airship pass.
Both my fiance and I have been unable to log in since Sunday morning.. Error 1017 World is full. It's one thing when they had not charged my card during pre-order. However, this is launch day and they have been paid. Why can't I play the game I paid for?? This is ridiculous. Seriously.

Here's an idea, how about instead of reading the forums we get everyone to spam the hell out of log in until it finally breaks something, then maybe SE will take the issue more seriously.
grr... got into queu with two remaining... put on moogle cap and called out cait sith, finally found a nice spot oaway from the mass of AFK'ers to take a screen for daughter, minimized to send the email and the GPU driver reset. Spam login... get in queue with 102 remaining... thinking, cool.. seems to be getting better, hear the familiar ding sound when it refreshes....getting hopeful... error 1017.

beginning to wonder why we even bother at this point.
I didn't mind having 1017 every time I tried to log in during Early Access weekend.
But now that I'm home with my paid PS3 copy I've waited years for, I expect to be able to play the game I purchased or at least be reasonably queued. At least have a notice in loadstone showing they are aware of concerns with limited log in.

Got into a que after trying for over 30 mins only to get the 1017 error. This is getting silly.
Why don't they make a longer queue instead of having us waste time trying to spam start, and then character just to get an error.
