The frame rate wasn't the only issue.

We've been waiting since the cancelation of the E3 presentation for this "flood of information" to start.

Now here we are at the last major conference of the year and we still know nothing of value about the game. This trailer was rehashed and old footage. That's far more an issue than the frame rate problem.

And I'm not trying to sound entitled, I'm just trying to be frank about it. A trailer like this doesn't get me excited, it makes me feel like they should push back their release window by at least a year. Still take v1 off line as planned, but just take the time to get v2 right.

Oh damn.. what happened to gaming? -.-
It's just a 2 min trailer. You saw around 2 hours of gameplay and there was no lag at all. Why should they create a crappy trailer if gameplay actually looked good? Just the same with the 2D grass. Why do you guys expect that much from a game? It's just the same mistake you did 2 years ago.

I am happy they are showing stuff even when it is pre-alpha.

On the one hand, Yoshi-P's comments don't address the odd movement and "cartoony" looks that also seemed to me to be in some other videos. Most characters are shown are from medium distance and behind, or from longer distances during battles, which don't showcase the details of the face or fine skeletal movement.

On the other hand, we've seen that when it comes down to it, gameplay is what matters. All your awesome Hydaelynian graphics, the immensity of your galaxy far, far away, or your blockbuster budgets, can't make a game a lasting hit.

Surely everyone has heard that the game's graphics need to simplify from the current system. As pretty as FF14 currently is, it can't draw more than 40 characters on-screen at a time, and that's an insane limitation for an MMO. And while we have invested in gaming hardware that is up to the challenge, the core FF fans necessary for this relaunch to succeed can't or won't.

I, for one, am content to remain patient and not judge by looks alone.

I just went to Breakfast with my friend and he was telling me how nobody cares about FFXIV: ARR and that GW2 is top of the line stuff that it's getting a good reception ( and thats when I told him it feels like a clone of all the Generic games out there). and he doesn't play MMOs but he does go to the site Kotaku alot ( when I'm over there he uses that site as means of information.)

I really doubt they will do that. Siliconera might, but Kotaku or IGN... I don't think so.
