I think at this point Square Enix knows that a movement system "that focuses on a more creative way of doing things" isn't going to compete with other MMO's on the market. Animation locks are one thing, but to not have the fluidity of movement like WoW or SWtOR has, is putting them one step behind with a lot of players, especially veterans of any of the titles to which I'm speaking about. They'll also lose a lot of new youth players as well. The movement system as it stands is clunky and archaic, and needs updating/upgrading on the whole. Hopefully they understand this. It worked in FFXI, because it WAS the most fluid way of doing things back then. Now? Not so much.
I dunno about you but to me lalatrains are a bit more immersion breaking than seeing human controlled characters move like they feel like moving.
p.s. I love jumping in XIII-2!
Sigh
Damn you SE. God damn you.
One more layer of identity you are willingly flaying away. Just keep at it until there is nothing left but numbers at the end of the Game's Title and Chocobos. Surely that will be enough to stand out. No doubt that will be what keeps your MMO at the forefront of everyone's mind.
Jumping seriously means SE has lost their own identity? Really? It just seems like a "This isn't FFXI-2 so SE is abandoning FF" complaint, because if I recall correctly, they're overdosing the game in that "Final Fantasy" vibe.
I'm not getting or losing anything that i want. I just like to keep the thread going. Maybe since you are in graphic arts for your dayjob, you can comment on how to make a jump look realistic and make it have equal parameters for all races.
Or just fluff the thread with "you need a life" comments. Either is cool for me.
