It’s just a really niche hill to die on and the peculiarity of the argument draws attention

More to illustrate some have very small minds, very large egos, and take "offense" at something they feel is "reserved for them alone".
Any rock concert anywhere these days uses FAR more sophisticated technology to make that music come to life. Ask yourself how many "celebrities" use auto tune in their performances.
This assumes the necro isn’t just some random troll alt with 5ish posts to their name and nothing to add to the conversation. Which is assuming a lot.
IMO, any post that’s been dead for a month should require the person to fill in a reason for necro-ing in the same vein as an edit.
A mandatory “and why are you deciding to necro this?”, in addition to some kind of flag that watches for a pattern of necro-ing multiple threads in a short time.
But that’s also assuming the devs will put any work into moderating this place. This also assumes a lot.
The problem with necros is how often people quote old posts. Where that person may or may not even be playing the game anymore and might have moved on. They may not even hold the same opinion or stance anymore if the necro is of a 2 year or older thread. There have been times I have even seen necros where they quote the person and say, "But it's not like that" because of a change that occurred within the game after that person made that comment. It wouldn't be so bad if people were more aware of the dates to things they comment to.
Get a real gig and stop worrying about FFXIV so much in lieu
It is never too late to be against bot users. ;)

Yiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiikes
Since everyone is necroing, I really love listening to live music and get sad when it turns out it isn't. Indicating you are live somehow, and just doing a little riff or anything, would probably get players like me to follow you around...
