I assume you are being obtuse or just ignorant about blue mage and its spells when you say its a 'stupid delusion of it becoming an all rounder that can steal a spot from other roles'.

I assume you're being obtuse or ignorant about the fact it's only allowed to do so through PF and in outdated content. A BLU is only tanking or healing if the rest of the party is OK with it.
Good luck building a roulette system where you can get a insufficient tanking BLU replacing an actual tank. And no, they wouldn't make its tanking and healing skills be good enough to replace actual tanks and healers, if made a full job. That goes against the design of the battle system the game has since the start.
Me too! Been saying this for quite a while, but Deep Dungeons and Eureka seems like a perfect fit for a Blue Mage solo. People are already soloing deep dungeons with other jobs anyway... They can create a scoreboard just for that purpose.
And also, Eureka elemental wheel system speaks a lot to how blue magic functions. I wouldn't be surprised if BLU got something like that as a "gauge" system someday.
Maybe they might, maybe in 5.4 but we won't know until December so I am looking forward to the Live Letter. I see no reason why it can't be a normal job. Doesn't matter if it can Multi-role or be a Pure DPS, I am fine either way and I support Blue Mage being a normal job while we trash the Limited Job system.
the way they are going with the jobs keeps darting back and forth, sb made thing so much complicated for certain jobs and then comes shb, BAM! it's suddenly the simplest job to play and vice versa. i just hope that they don't do that this time or else blue mage will take much longer than needed to be a normal job.
Blue mage currently have their own job development progress at this point and doesn't sync with all other classes. It's mostly updated during raid downtime patch for side contents. They are allocating their resource into this while they can allocate it somewhere else.
I think it's too late for that unfortunately. The problem is that Blue Mage spells are acquired and cutting the spells out may be a problem
The only way it'd work is if you set restrictions within the DF system (considering there's a toggle that allows or prevents players from queueing for certain things, the tech is already there) or within BLU itself. I've toyed with the idea of skill sets or totems that a BLU could equip to push them towards a specific role, with the catch being that once inside a duty you can't remove the totem, and in order to queue for DF you need to have certain spells learned and set in your ability bar. This means that BLU would have to jump through more hoops than other jobs to queue for DF, but that's more SE's fault for implementing the job as they did.
I'm not terribly mad at the whole limited Job niche, but just how its "endgame" gives little to no incentive for players to keep doing Blue Mage. The only thing I'm missing is the Morbol and it's quite out of my reach at this moment. It's been months since I've played the job.
I wouldn't be mad if they found a way to have it as a normal job, truly, because I love the aesthetics... But being realistic. What are the chances of Squeenix scrapping a concept this big (Limited Job), that was introduced not long ago? I'm holding my breath to them making more drastic changes to the system itself rather than they scrapping it. Though even at that, I doubt it will be on 5.4, or else we'd probably had "Big Blue Mage changes incoming" or something like that. Maybe for 6.0, then?
My personal wishlist for the changes (if they keep the job as it is) are:
- Adjustments taking every crucial spell (Aetherial, Pom Cure, etc) and quest-required spells OUT of instanced content
- Replayability incentive... For example, Khloe Aliapoh making a special Blue Mage journal
- Deep dungeons accessibility
- 5.5 level cap at 80, and being capped with the other jobs at some point in 6.0
More than likely considering Limited Job is a system similar to that of a normal job but with extreme restrictions preventing anything with random matchups. Since 2.0 till now the normal job system had nothing new added. Job gauges are the jobs itself rather than the Normal Job system. Normal Job and Limited Job are both a type of housing category, where each system houses jobs. With Limited Job system being empty and very restrictive, so at some point they will scrap it and brush it under the rug (I hope). Cause I am also being honest saying that Limited Job is duplicate of Normal Job in terms of system with some modifications to it and horrible ones at that and that is all there is to it.
We can take beastmaster as an example, already it doesn't need a limited job system as some of the ideas can be done in a normal job setting. I Already made a post on it and made it clear that Limited Job is not necessary for Beast master and Limited Job is obsolete. Link: https://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/...entation/page2 (Post18).
